Office is listed as a provider covered by my insurance. Called at end of day that they don't accept it though they are a provider listed as part of network. I think they cherry pick patients and blame insurance. Hard as hell to find a decent psych in this town. read more

I went to Dr. Porto first in 2010 for some antidepressants and saw him once and only once. He is by far the rudest doctor I have ever met in my entire life and both of my parents were doctors, as well as my grandparents. Around 2020, I attempted to make an appointment with him again (my general practitioner wanted me to start seeing a psychiatrist for my meds instead) and Dr. Porto personally called me and asked "what I wanted." (Very rudely). He said he had a blanket rule on not prescribing any patient benzodiazepines from bad experiences with them. He noticed I get an ADHD med in the day and a benzodiazepine at night on my prescription record. He told me that if I am prescribed these two medications at once, I am a "walking drunk" in his words and that he would not see me unless I quit both RXs for 3 months before an appointment with him. (As if I take them together all day long you idiot). Anyways when I attended law school, I sat in on family court one day and there was a lady there who was wanting to amend her custody case so that her kids could be around felons again bc her friends were from AA and she wanted the kids to meet her new boyfriend from AA/NA. Low and behold the man she was dating from these programs was Dr. Porto. So what I gather from this is that HE CAN'T HANDLE HIS OWN ALCOHOLISM AND DRUG ADDICTION, so he projects that onto all of his patients! Turns out HE IS THE LITERAL WALKING DRUNK... The exact words he called me.... HA!! Looks like that "problem he has with benzos" was probably HIS problem with them, not his previous patients. A total hypocrite! Additionally, He has the worse bedside manner of any doctor I have ever met or seen. A horrible man who doesn't care about his patients a single bit. Funny my little brother told me he had met a horrendous psychiatrist experience and once again, it was Boris Porto. His reputation is accurate. He is a piece. My mom, also a physician, agreed he lacks a good reputation and has only heard bad things. Pick anyone else in the city specializing in psychiatry and you will have found a doctor better than him. I'm a 35 year old female who Dr. Porto wrote an evaluation on @ Charter Plains when I was 11. He wrote another evaluation of my psychiatric health and needs with recommendations when I was 14. Again Dr. Porto assisted me with my psychiatric needs as an adult at the age of 30 and so fourth. At the time of my youth, it was a major stigma to medicate children with stimulants and my mother chose not to. On top of not being able to swallow pills whole, my mother found it difficult to medicate me or treat my behaviors behind my own unwillingness to cooperate with the recommendations of Dr. Porto. I have now had time to look back on my life and raising and asses my mental health history and my mental/medical records and notice that Dr. Porto was absolutely correct and on point every time with his evaluations and recommendations of me and those surrounding me and what the outcomes of my life would be if the lifestyle did not change. I am exactly the woman today that he said I would turn into with the parenting I had and self harm I continue to do. I do what I want instead of what he recommends. I now value Dr. Porto's opinion I'm not always in agreement with it but I value it and will continue to seek mental health treatment through Dr. Porto when he agrees I'm the patient he want to medicate.
