Amazing tasting room!
Nicole P.

It had been at least 5 years since we came to Borjon. They are even better than what we remembered. Their reds were truly to die for! The lady in the tasting room was extremely knowledgeable about wines and Amador County. We tasted 5-6 wines a piece - we were able to share to be able to taste more. I highly recommend walking around the tasting room. They have beautiful Spanish saddles! They also have a restaurant on the premise that serves up Mexican food - who can resist that!?!

This is an update, and I've been a club member for some time, and so I sometimes get to be a bit persnickety. My wife thinks I'm high maintenance, and, on occasion, she's known to be right. That's relevant here because the wine is so good that it's often very crowded. it's also on the main road with a huge parking lot, and so it's pretty easy to find and park. So, they've got the formula down. Good wine + good visibility + plenty of parking + nice employees = happy wine drinkers = big crowd. What a pleasant experience it was to be there on a Thursday afternoon on a glorious Spring day in April. For the first time ever, we were, for about six minutes, the only customers in the tasting room. As it turns out, it's a nice room. The other new finding on this trip was that they are now allowing you to taste their very expensive wine. We got to taste $100 Barbera and the $130 Cabernet. Without going into a whole bunch of detail, I'd simply suggest that you plan for a crowd, have a good attitude, and enjoy some good wine. All the best!

All the wines we tasted were delicious! The grounds are beautiful, well shaded and spacious too. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely return.

Borjon Winery has been a home away from home for our family. They provide customers a warm welcome to their well-kept grounds, a clean and inviting tasting room, and even-better home-cooked meals right from their central Mexican heritage. The wines here have been consistently top-notched, and well deserved of Amador's climate and fantastic grapes. You can taste the care placed in making their annual vintages and a palette robust of fruits, chocolates, and mild vanilla. Our favorites are the Seleccion colleciton and their Barberas- to die for! Thank you to the Borjon team for always treating us like family. Visit here for a picnic, enjoy the grounds, and taste beautifully crafted wine.

Borjon Winery adds a youthful, Latin flavor to the uber-traditional wine area known as Shenandoah Valley. Not all wine tasting has to include serious discussions about tannins, "nutty or fruity" flavors or what the wine pairs best with. I doubt most people actually know what they're talking about when they have these discussions. At Borjon, they make serious wine for the casual drinker. I didn't feel inferior because I didn't know a thing about blends or varietals. It's an energetic atmosphere with a fun, casual staff who know that some people like drinking wine for the sake of drinking. I first stopped in during an Amador wine event and they had pulled out all the stops: a mariachi band, free tamales and burritos and, of course, some great wine. I had a chance to chat with the owner and he is obviously enthusiastic about bringing a different vibe to stodgy old wine country. Again, I don't know much about wine, but if I were to recommend one bottle from Borjon, I'd go with the 2007 Xinfandel.

New kids on the block http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lsZFL3gNXe6K4CATSuyX-Q?select=r4skMsmyCivxjSejWTgMXA Joe Shebl is the winemaker and he is making some good wines for not having many years at the winery. All the wines I tasted were young, fruity and tight. These have aging potential and most likely will be getting bigger notice as time passes. These wines are going in the right direction. We tasted Primitivo, Barbera, Zin, Petite Sirah and Los Portales (blend). Noe Avila the tasting room manager is very talented with people and has a natural grace with folks. We purchased ECKS 2001 Rose Wine at $17 - it is a steal. Don't start on me about Rose wine - try it and then tell me.

After a couple years of driving by this winery and never stopping, my husband finally said "you know, we should check this place out!" And I'm glad we did. One quick call to the winery later, we were all set for a tasting the following day. Red wine lovers (especially Barbara) you are in for a real treat! We enjoyed a lovely tasting hosted by Alyssa, which included 1 Reposado flight ($5), and 1 Selección flight ($10). We will for sure be back again!

I purchased a 06 Xinfandel and 06 Barbera, which was a tough decision to make because the 07 versions were very nice.

In my opinion, they are doing so many things to enhance the wine tasting experience, it could blow away the competition. Examples are as follows: 1. Rebuilding, refinishing and updating the tasting room and facility. 2. Hiring the former Sous Chef from Taste restaurant to create food offerings/pairings and provide a small bite sample with wine tasting. 3. Display unique and unusual art in and around the property. (They have seven full size panels from the Berlin Wall adjacent to the tasting room.) 4. Staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. 5. The wine pricing is reasonable when compared to the quality. 6. Both the food and wine are excellent. That said, I think the one possible stumbling point could be their attempt to blend in their east coast sister wines and styles with this region. It might be an interesting idea, but I am uncertain people locally will appreciate or understand the effort. The Amador wine region is not Napa Valley, and I don't think it possesses the international appeal, notoriety or demographics that will support the concept of bi-coastal wines. In any event, we will return to further experience the ongoing evolution of this remarkable winery.

I had to show them the email confirmation. It was fine and we were still able to sit down right away. The inside wine tasting room is kind of small but the outdoor patio and area makes up for it. It is quite big and open. I think someone can host an outdoor concert or a wedding. We got to taste about five type of wines (Sauvignon Blanc and few blended red wine). They were all good. I particularly like the 2020 Interlude and purchased a bottle for my sister. We also got to sample from their gallery collection library club that's like 20+ years old ( I forgot the exact year) and that was special. They also have dumplings and spring rolls for purchase. I skip that because I wasn't sure if that would go with the wine. We bought some cheese with us and we had that with our wine. Of course, we asked for permission before bringing in our own cheese and crackers. The gentleman that served us was really nice and friendly. We didn't feel rushed and wine was poured at a good pace. I do want to mention that most winery at Amador will comp at least one tasting with purchase, but not at Di Arie. If you're not a member, be prepared to pay the full wine tasting fee per person.

It's a Terri blend of Cab Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Syrah and Primitivo! The host and hostess were all very friendly and knowledgeable! And of course to meet and chat with the wine maker himself, Chaim, was a wonderful treat! The grounds were small, but very cute and relaxing. It made for a warm, friendly ambiance! Of course we walked away with a case of the Sierra and the 3 OG vintage wines! We're definitely coming back in a few weeks. Thank you Di Arie!

The tasting room is nicely decorated. While most people tried a few wines they then bought a bottle, which Tracy put in a bucket of ice along with glasses which they then took back outside. They have lots of seating with a covered patio along with other tables with umbrellas for a more intimate experience. Apparently, this is the related winery to Villa Toscano located nearby, which we had previously visited. Once again, I found myself a fan of this place also! It too, is surrounded by eye pleasing countryside views, with lovely ponds, fountains, flowers and comfortable seating areas along the outdoor patios. The entrance opens into a large room where the tasting counter is at the far end. The walls are decorated with assorted flags and a family style crest over the focal point of the wine tasting bar. The wines offered on the wine tasting list were similar to what we had tried before at Villa Toscano. But we ordered another $5.00 flight that included our favorites along with a few we hadn't tried yet. We enjoyed the flavor variations, but had a hard time deciding on what to purchase, so we went outside for a while to take in the scenery and discuss which ones we liked the best. Bella Piazza also offers a wine club membership that includes discounts on wine, other products and a free lunch buffet every weekend.
