Borjon is a unique tasting experience in Plymouth. The tasting room has several tasting areas and three tasting menus. There is a different charge for each menu but is clearly marked on the tasting note sheet. Mostly big and bold reds- the Barbera is one of the best in the valley. They also have a great Rose for the summer! Staff is friendly and personable. Lots of parking and a cafe with patio seating next to the tasting room. read more

Wine was good service by a blonde girl with curly hair I think her name was Sarah... Left much to be desired. She was extremely rude, and an attitude problem. She doesn't do your wines justice. We would ask her a question about the wine and she would just sigh like she didn't really want to be there. When we asked her about the tasting Fee some we bought six bottles, she became very argumentative. She even raised her voice and started pointing her finger at us. First time picking up an order as a wine club member. The indoor area is nicely decorated. But that is the only thing I found nice about the experience. First of all I got an email saying that they would make an exception and "allow" me to pick up my case of wine instead of shipping it because they only have so much space to hold it. So, once I got there I figured the case was ready. I was wrong. Once I got there I was the only one at the counter. I was greeted by one girl at the counter and two others in the office. While the one girl gathered my 12 bottle order the other remained in the office on her cell. I was not offered anything as I waited. Once the order was ready I was handed the large case and not offered any help to my car. They couldn't even get the door and only offered to close it on my way out. I'm not sure how they thank others for being a member of the highest tier of there wine club but I hope it's a better welcome than I received. The discount is nice and I do hope I enjoy their wine because otherwise I will not be continuing my membership when I get treated much better at Scott Harvey's or Tera D'Oro. read more

The wine here is amazing. Really great quality for the price range. We came on a busy Saturday afternoon but we had someone take care of us and was as attentive as she possibly could be. We came to Amador County specifically to get away from the pretentiousness of Napa, etc. If that's what you are looking for, then Borjon is the place to go. When we walked in, noone greeted us, just got a few stares from the staff. At the counter, we were bluntly asked which tasting flight we'd like to try. The pours were literally a sip per wine for tastings that started from $5+. I couldn't wait to pay and get out of there. Highly unfortunate since we had a great experience and delicious lunch at Nora's, which is just a few steps away from the Borjon tasting rom. read more

LOVE this place, though I'm prejudiced, of course. The full mariachi that was playing the last time I was there, and a great trio the time before added so much to the atmosphere and it's a lovely place inside and out. My second visit here was better than the first and the first time was absolutely delightful. Staff here are so inviting, personable, and knowledgeable. The wine is delectable and the pours here are generous; you definitely have more than enough to savor. I purchased a 06 Xinfandel and 06 Barbera, which was a tough decision to make because the 07 versions were very nice. But I opted for the more peppery of the years. The Xin didn't even make it home; we had to pop it open at dinner. The logo is very sleek and cool and the decor is hip, southwestern ranch style not Italian villa like most wineries. This winery is fairly new to the county, so it may not have the word of mouth that other Amador co. wineries do, so stop by and welcome this youngin'. Loved the wines. Hated the service. A young blonde girl by the name of Sara I believe really stained the impression your wines made. She was very rude and when we asked her questions about the wine she would sigh like we were bothering her. It's funny that she even got involved since another very friendly young man was actually serving the wines. We bought six bottles of wine.. unfortunately the wine Isn't worth being treated like intruders instead of customers or guests. I went here a couple times and both times, there was an event going on. This seems to be the "fun, young and good looking" winery in the area. And Noe, aka Manuel, was awesome! He was working the counter and he was so funny and knowledgeable about the wines and the company. And the wines! I'm torn. I would give five for the wine and the atmosphere, but I would give zero for the service. We were referred here on a wine buying trip by the great folks at Turley down the road. The rose at Borjon is exceptional and a real treat. The blonde pouring it? I thought I must have done something to offend her, but couldnt imagine what. She seemed actually put out to be pouring for us, as though she could barely stand us being there. Strange vibe. The other employees who were helping other customers seemed very friendly. This young woman seemed very impressed with herself and practically disgusted with us. I still bought bottles and they have been fantastic! But next time I would see if someone else can pour. No one needs to be treated like that! read more

Went on 1/26/19 disappointing since there were many sold out wines. They also advertised new releases but you couldn't taste them or purchase them unless you purchased an event ticket. I started trying out amador county wines last year and have been suprised with the quality of some of the wineries in the area however this place fell short of the others. A couple of wines were ok but nothing worth buying. If you're looking to make some rounds in the area don't waste your time here. read more

Great selection of red wines! Prices range from affordable to pricey so there's something for everyone. Our favorite at this time is their Barbara Selecion. They also have a delicious rose which is perfect for sipping outside on a warm spring or summer day. Their sparkling rose is also quite good and would be great for a special occasion or to give as a gift. Borjon is one of our go to wineries in the Plymouth area. I first went to Borjon Winery around March of 2012 with several friends of mine. We frequent the Amador area quite a bit and decided to finally check out Borjon because they are fairly new. We were blown away by the friendliness, the atmosphere and the wine. It was a fantastic experience and we were looking forward to coming back. We walked away with a bottle or two. One of my friends who was with me that day quickly decided Borjon was his favorite winery in Amador. Unfortunately, that friend passed away in early June. We decided to honor his memory by visiting Borjon near the end of June. We were excited to be back to Borjon and were planning on walking away with several bottles. In addition, I was bringing with a friend and fellow wine enthusiast who had yet to experience Borjon. When we arrived, they were fairly busy and we were asked to stand around a table instead of near the bar. This was fine, as we had five of us there to taste. It took them several minutes to acknowledge us again and bring us glasses, but then they did, we thought we were in for a treat. We were mistaken. It took about another five minutes to receive the first pour, and after that, our wine pourer disappeared. It took another ten minutes or so before a different wine pourer walked over to us, and realized we were waiting on the next taste. It took her several minutes, but she finally came back and poured the second wine. The third wine came after about five minutes, so I thought things were turning around, but then we were literally left there for about twenty minutes, waiting for the fourth wine on the list. They didn't bother to spend any time with us and tell us about the wine - just pour and leave. This was a complete 180 of how I remembered Borjon a few months back. So, we decided that we had enough waiting. After being there almost an hour and only tasting three wines, we all left without finishing the tastes or buying anything. At no point did any of the workers attempt to talk to us or acknowledge the length of time between pours. I could see that they were busy, but we could see the other groups just getting more attention and our group being ignored. As good as I remember their wine being, that doesn't make up for the lack of service, and acknowledgement of it. We are not impatient people, but to me, the lack of service was a huge put off. Ultimately, I know I will go back (their wine is really good), but It will probably be quite a while before I give Borjon another chance. I will re-evaluate them and re-write a review next time I finally decide to go back. read more

Not sure who is complaining, or why, on these reviews. Clearly these downers don't understand good wine. I've been to almost every winery in the region and the wine, service and Mexican deli are amazing. The wine is made with special care, a strict process and a style that is not like any other. Quit complaining about the tequila display too. It's their heritage and brand, not for tasting. It's not a bar, it's a winery. They would need a liquor license to serve the high-end tequila that most complainers wouldn't buy in the first place. read more

Not to be missed! If you're in Amador County for some wine tasting you definitely want to stop at Borjon Winery. This boutique winery produces some of the best reds in the Shenandoah Valley, my personal favs are the Barbera and the Primitivo. The staff are very friendly too, expect to be treated like family! This is a great stop in Amador. A friend insisted we stop here last time we went, and it was a good call. Luckily, we were the only ones in the tasting room, and the pourer was awesome. We had a couple first-timers with us, a total veteran, and me (who is half way in between: I love good wine, but I'm not impressed by a high price). The pourer was a true pro. She engaged each person- the first timers, the vet, and the in-between- all equally. The wine was good, and there wasa nice variety. My veteran friend has almost opposite taste from mine, and we both found wines we liked, and even a couple a we agreed on. I love true, family vineyards and stories (which is why I love Amador), and we got the story of this place. I won't expand on that...ask yourself, and hear it from your pourer! The logo has significance, and they do sell glasses (expensive, but my husband couldn't help but want one! He recently broke his "special" glass, so now we HAVE to go back....oh golly...) The prices are decent, not great for the area. They had some fun art and even Mexican food in warmers available! Pretty, fun, good wine. That's a win. read more

We visited 11 wineries this week in Amador and El Dorado counties, and Borjon was my favorite. We liked it so much that we joined the wine club, and we had previously agreed to cancel our two current memberships at other places and jump ship after this trip. Instead, we decided to join Borjon and drop another winery we've been with for four years. I'm pretty serious about my red wine. I'm not going to carry on about the greatness of a winery and then say that my favorite wine was the almond flavored sparkling wine or the port (which they don't have here, by the way)! The people at Borjon know what they're doing. They're serious about making good red wine, and WOW is it good. We loved everything we tasted. Seriously. We almost didn't go there because there isn't a lot of internet hype surrounding them. Yet. I was intrigued by them because almost every one of their Reposado wines won an award at the SF Chronicle competition last year, and after tasting them, I could see why. We were helped by Wesley, who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and generous. I decided to join the club, and the four of us ended up tasting everything on their menu for free, which was insanely long, and all of us enjoyed every single wine. No one dumped anything, and that's pretty rare in our group. If you are not a member, there are several paid options with tasting. I highly recommend the $10 tasting; you get to taste around 10 wines, and the fee is waived with purchase. You'd be crazy not to buy at least one bottle here, so it's totally worth it. read more

The wines here are REALLY good! I just wish they didn't charge a fee for tasting. The fee can be put towards a bottle purchase, but it was kind of a bummer when almost all of the other wineries offer complimentary tastings. Borjon had one of the best Sangiovese and super great deal at 50% off only $10 per bottle, I regret we didn't buy more. The Zin Reposado, and Barbera are also incredible. Borjon has a Saturday evening "Music and Wine" event during the summer months. We were in the area tasting and buying wine and decided to attend this event after dinner tonight. They charge a $5 per person cover and a glass of wine was $7. Tonight's music was a young jazz duet, a guy on guitar and a woman singing some great old mellow jazz classics and they were very good. The one star was not for them. There were 5 couples there for "Music" and Wine as well as 2 employees to collect the cover charge and pour the wine. The table with 2 couples talked without stopping so loudly that it made enjoying the music almost impossible. Rather than suggest that they hold the conversation down the two employees chatted with each other most of the time, not as loudly but enough to hear all this noise in 5.1 surround. This was a small venue under a tent and the loud conversations really overwhelmed the cool jazz. In a bar where music is the background you live with this, but this program was listed with Music first. It was a lousy experience and it cost me $10 bucks to suffer through it read more

I am a wine member at Borjon and it is one of my go to spots when I go wine tasting in Amador county. I first fell in love with Borjon a few years ago when I was wine tasting with my folks and we stopped at the winery because we liked that their logo had a cowboy hat on it. We are simple like that ;). What we found when we went inside was a super cute little tasting room with great customer service. The gentleman that poured for us was very informative and most importantly he made us feel special and welcome. We had so much fun and as a red wine lover I was beyond tickled that they only make and serve red wine, SCORE!! They also had a fresh salsa pairing to go with the wine. Red wine AND salsa!!! I was in heaven. While I love all of their wines my favorites are the Barbara Reserva, Differente, Complejio, and their Zinfandels. I highly recommend this winery and I will continue to come back time and time again. read more

Great winery with a good selection of affordable to expensive wines. The petite sirah seleccion was a favorite for me as a blend that was off the $15.00 taste list. They make two cabs from Napa Valley grapes. Both were well made but the $130.00 price for the St.Helena Cab was a little ambitious. read more
