I will start this review by saying that I am not one to leave bad reviews for honest, hardworking…read morepeople and businesses - however, this is a time that I am making an exception. I was referred to Michael Overmann by a friend of my Mother's after my Father passed unexpectedly. He had no written will, therefore we needed to open a probate account to manage & distribute his assets. We also needed to appoint an administrator of the estate, which ended up being me. Upon reaching out to Michael, he was very responsive and gave us the base amount of information that we needed to get started, but that's about where it starts and ends. My family and I were VERY clear from the start that we knew little to nothing about this process, and would need to be walked through step-by-step, which we were assured by Michael that this would happen. Any time that I called (and he actually picked up), we were rushed off the phone without clear answers, AND THEN subsequently charged for the call on our final ledger. After the initial opening of probate, we went legitimately several months, after attempting to reach his office to close the account, without hearing back. It took me writing an email through his free consultation form on his website to get a message back. Along with the above issues, there were 2-3 instances where he either sent mail to a wrong address, or failed to make corrections to addresses, thus delaying court dates. We were not charged for the extensions thankfully, but due to my aforementioned lack of experience in this area, this created a lot more unnecessary stress on my end. I didn't even hear from him once the probate account was open. I had to search on the court records page myself to find out - the same situation occurred closing the account, even after I requested to be informed of these changes. I don't know if it was just because he knew that we were blindly going to pay him anyways, or that my Father's estate wasn't very big, but throughout the entire process, Michael and his office could not have been more apathetic towards my family and our needs, during what has been clearly an emotionally draining time in our lives. Again, I do not condone ruining business' ratings on Google/Yelp/etc, but I feel that my experience with Michael Overmann warranted this 1 star review. DO NOT hire Overmann Law to handle your estate or probate account. He may be better in other areas, or if you are richer than my family, but his work is not up to par compared to other *honest* lawyers that I could have given my money to.

Every step of the way, Karen was there to help me and respond to emails in less than 30 minutes. She was always available to talk to me and answer my questions. Also, she notarized my documents promptly when I needed them. Matt was also so incredibly helpful. I set up a few call appointments with him since it was a bit far for me to drive to their office. He explained things to me in a way that was understandable. On the day of closing, he showed up on time and was very to the point. We got out of there in no time and the keys were handed over to me. Matt is knowledgable, professional, trustworthy, and good at negotiating. Working with them both was a very comfortable process. My main thing with them is that I like how they just MAKE time for things. Not only was the closing waaayyy quicker than usual, I work in healthcare so my schedule was chaos in this process. They made sure that if a time couldn't work for me, they would make it work. I'm grateful for this flexibility. I would reccomend their services to both family and friends. In the future, i'd also love to work with them again.

Hired O'Flaherty and paid a flat fee for their firm to complete ten (10) quick claim deeds to transfer properties from individual ownership into our family trust. Normally this process would take a few weeks, and the majority of time is waiting on the County registrar to process the deeds. Started this process in October and finally completing the transfer seven (7) months later. A short list of O'Flaherty's performance - Incorrectly filled out all ten (10) quick claim deeds - incorrectly inputted multiple parcel ID's, after I sent all of them in the correct format - incorrectly submitted eRETR transfer requests leading to multiple rejections by the County Registrar - Incorrectly tried to charge me a transfer fee of 3% on our total property valuation ( over $75k), without having any idea that transferring property into a trust does not incur charges in WI (I was forced to spend hours calling into the County to confirm the transfer fee exemption process) - was scolded by their lawyers stating that they were only contracted to complete the quick claim deeds, and had no responsibility to submit any documentation for transferring deeds, when this is the only reason I called a law firm in the first place Never once in 7 months followed up on the status, or lackthereof, of the deed transfer process; every update was predicated on my countless emails and phone calls - leaving the names of specific POC's off this review as this is indicative of the entire firm and not one person in particular

BEST FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY!! I'm not a trustworthy person and…read moreI especially did not think I could trust a lawyer even one working for me but I was proven wrong. We had gone to multiple places over the years and we showed all our paperwork and told our story and not ONE of them actually looked me in the eye and showed any sense of, well a soul, all they would say to me is this is our retainer, this is how much we charge, get it give it to me sign here and we'll be in touch. Yeah so I knew that once I got all this money together the retainer would be gone in two seconds and they would have drawn up one thing and made a few calls. They didn't even tell me a plan of action or explain what the process they were thinking of. They had a fake smile, offered coffee or water and made me feel like "were pretty much done after you sign here." When I didn't want a drink, I wanted some sense of footing that what I wanted to be done would be handled. So, a friend who had used Fran white before suggested I give her a try. She was the first lawyer that looked me IN THE EYE and said this is how much, this is what we want to happen, this is what could happen. We will take it one step at a time. And ever since I signed with her we have gotten nothing but DEVOTION, decency, and skill. She knows her stuff. She knows all the courthouses Cook county, DuPage county, etc. She is always calm because when you're that good at what you do you can be that calm. The process is tough because family law is basically figuring out how to put your family together so it's best for your children and everyone. One shouldn't have to worry about your lawyer using your resources. I recommend the law offices of white and white. I wish whomever is reading this a blessed journey. You will get there it just takes time
