    Butter pecan cheesecake
    Amira I.

We tried this place for the first time on Monday evening. I can't believe how busy they were! The parking lot was full and you have to do valet. It's complimentary. But even on a week day, this place is packed and they don't take reservations. They really should because I don't have the patience to wait so long for a table. We ordered different appetizers but devils crab was my favorite. I also really liked their original snapper. It was delicious and my favorite part was the butter pecan cheesecake. See photos below. Overall if you don't mind waiting and paying $50+ per dish then this place is worth it!

Boshamps lived up to the hype. The daily special was blackened grouper or red snapper over cheese grits with corn maque choux. I got the grouper and my wife got the snapper. Both were delicious but we probably could have split an entree it was so much food and we got the sauteed crab claws as an appetizer. This was an expensive lunch at around $120 before the tip so splitting the main dish would have been the way to go since we didn't finish everything but live and learn! Everything was great and we will definitely eat here again when we go back to Destin. This is a top 3 spot in Destin for us.

I have been wanting to eat at this place for years. Every time we have visited the wait times were extensive. This year, it was our first stop. We arrived at 11:30 there was no wait . We had a party of 11. The server was prompt. Now the food is kinda pricey but that is to be expected as they mostly serve seafood. I ordered the catch if the day special. Red snapper blackened atop garlic mash potatoes with lemon butter. I subbed the vegetable for the bacon braised collared greens at an extra cost When I received my food, I was expecting an actual side of greens but it was about 2 tablespoons under the fish on top the potatoes The meal was 10/10! However for the cost, more greens should have been provided as I had a ton of potatoes The others ordered the fried seafood and it was really bland! The cheese cake was delicious I would go back but it isn't a place that I would just HAVE to go.

This restaurant was recommended by the tiki pub, Driver and one of my friends that has been to Destin. We went for lunch. There was no wait for a table. We got seated inside by the window.it had a great view of the harbor. For my meal, I had the summer salad and the catch of the day, which was a snapper. The summer salad came with berries and goat cheese. It was really good. I give it 10 out of 10. The fish portion was a good size. It was about $20 more to add fish. For my drink, I had the beautiful disaster. It wasn't sweet. You could definitely taste the liquor. Service was great. They have inside and outside seating. They have their own parking lot, but I can see how I can get very full when busy. They do have free valet parking.

We had another great meal at Boshamps and the oysters were fantastic. We also tried the grilled Swordfish and it was fantastic. Service was fast and friendly during our lunchtime visit. The wait can exceed 2 hours in the evening. Love the decor and the view at Boshamps.

Aside from the wait to get in, this was an excellent experience. The food was top notch. Blackened swordfish was excellent. We tried about half the appetizers and they were very good. Drinks good. Service was excellent. No mandatory gratuity for large parties! That was wild but I gave more anyway!

This restaurant is so highly rated and now I completely understand why. It's that good! Honestly, this was the best meal I had during my trip to Destin. If I had to recommend just one place, it would be this one. Starting with the kids' meal, my daughter had, the chicken fingers were so delicious. I always try them and they're usually just okay, but these were actually great with incredible seasoning. My husband ordered the Bobo burger (yes, I tried everyone's food lol), and wow... it was out of this world. It was so good I almost wanted to swap meals with him! That said, my dish was amazing too, I got the catch of the day, and it was very interesting, it had tomato sauce mixed in there. Sadly I only got pictures of my meal. You'll just have to trust me! Everything we had was on point. So what are you waiting for? Go give this place a try!

We came here with a group of 12 for a bachelorette trip and overall had a great experience. We were originally told the wait would be 1.5 to 2 hours, but we were pleasantly surprised to be seated in under an hour. We sat outside, enjoyed the live music, and the atmosphere was perfect for a group celebration. Service was quick and attentive, especially considering how busy they were. Food wise, the pimento cheese dip was unfortunately not a hit for our group. It had a very thick, almost paste like consistency and was difficult to spread. I also ordered the corn and crab bisque, and personally was not a fan of the sweeter flavor. For my meal, I ordered the summer salad and absolutely loved it. I finished every bite. Our server also highly recommended the first three fish options on the menu, and everyone who ordered fish completely cleaned their plates. Portion sizes were very generous. The only issue we had was the bride's steak being overcooked, but the manager personally came over, addressed it, and made sure everything was taken care of. Overall, great atmosphere, live music, generous portions, and solid service. A fun spot for groups and celebrations!

While on vacation in Destin, my wife and I wanted to grab dinner off our resort so we came to Boshamps. She has been before but this was my first time. We got there around 7pm and it was a two hour wait! That's how popular this restaurant is! We decided to hang outside by the outside area and were able to grab seats at the bar. I ordered a blackberry cocktail which was decent. For an appetizer I had the oyster Rockefeller which were really good. For my main, I had snapper on top of mash potatoes and collard greens. It was really good! We both ordered cheesecake to take back to the hotel and it was amazing. I can understand why this is a popular spot in Destin. When we return we will definitely come back.

The only thing I ever order at Boshamps! The Original Snapper Destin! Sooo fresh and amazing!

I've been here a few times now. First time writing a review that should've been written long ago. I'll start with yes, the wait time can tend to be very long. But 100% the food is worth the wait. There is no other restaurant that even matches close to the taste, quality of food as this place does. Their oysters (we did raw)- amazing, the grouper with the feta soufflé- amazing, my spouse got the snapper (their most popular dish) with the collards-amazing. We came with our 2yr old and when they told us the wait was going to be about 1.5hrs, we were a little hesitant because she doesn't like to sit still but we knew it would be worth it. (Bring toys if you bring your little ones). They do have a sand play area with little tractors behind the restaurant (very bottom of the steps by the water/boat dock). We didn't realize that till 15min till our table was ready but super helpful in keeping little ones happy.

My brother and I had a nice time and nice meal here on my last day in Destin!! It's a big place with great views of the water, boats and activity. Our server was super nice and the service itself was speedy. I looooove my food! I got a dozen raw oysters and they were HUGE!!! As a Florida girlie living in NC this was such a welcomed sight. Along with the low price. Oysters in NC are super expensive lol. I was in heaven eating these fresh caught oysters. It was one of my fav parts of the trip. I also had a yummy daiquiri and salad. This spot is a great option and I will def come abck in visit next time I'm in town!!!! I really enjoyed my meal here.

We ate at Boshamps after our friend's destination elopement, and wow -- what an unforgettable wedding‑night dinner. They wanted something special, and this place absolutely delivered. We arrived around 7:45pm and were told the wait would be about 2.5 hours, which we expected since everyone told us how insanely popular it is. But honestly, the wait ended up being part of the fun. We grabbed drinks from the dock bar, found a table, and enjoyed live music right on the water. Instead of 2.5 hours, we were seated in just a little over an hour -- a total win. Our appetizers were incredible. We ordered the raw "Nekkid" oysters, Oysters Boshamps, and blue crab claws. It was my first time trying oysters, and the Oysters Boshamps blew me away. Then my husband and I shared the Pan Roasted Gulf Grouper, and even though we're not big seafood people, it was shockingly delicious -- like, "I can't believe how good this is" delicious. And the feta cheese soufflé? Truly next level. Our waiter was fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and genuinely made the experience even better. I wish I remembered his name because he deserves major credit.10/10 recommend Boshamps. The food, the atmosphere, the service -- everything was outstanding. And we were surprised by how huge the restaurant actually is, especially since it looks so small from the front. A total Destin gem!

Boshamps Oyster House Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Boshamps Oyster House

    Are they Pet friendly?

They are on the outside deck.

How is the parking here? We have been to several restaurants and parking is so crazy at some?

    They have valet at dinner.

    Do they take reservations?

No you have to wait, but it's worth it. Go early like 5 and it's not that long of a wait.

    Do they add gratuity?

I don’t think so on small party’s. You will like

Can you tell them you want to sit outside before they seat you?

    Yes you can 😀

Do they have happy hour food menu?

I called them and Happy Hour every Monday-Friday from 3pm to 6pm. Discount on drinks only. Food menu is the same typical menu.

We have a party of 8 adults and 3 children. Do they take reservations?

No, they don't take reservations. The wait is usually not quite as long as they say it will be and you can go out back by the water. It's worth the wait!

Any Happy hour specials and times?

Is the outdoor dining dog friendly?

    Yes

Do they have allergy information on the menu? My daughter has a peanut allergy and I could not locate anything.

I did not notice allergy information on the menu but everyone is very friendly and would be happy to answer your questions.

How do I get added to the waitlist?

When I called about making reservations I was told it was first come first serve and they don't take reservations. This was May 2021. The restaurant has lots of seating though both indoors and outdoors.

How is the restaurant practicing covid concerns, do the staff wear mask?

The servers were when we were there! Not important to me though!!

Is there any non dairy options?

Well the menu has a lot of fish options with vegetables. It would seem easy to avoid dairy ingredients as long as you make a special request. They could be using milk and/or butter in sauces, etc. and there equipment would not be completely dairy…

What is the "least busy night", or does such a thing exist? I have a compromised immune system and am trying to find the best night to go where I will not have a long wait with lots of people since they do not take reservations.

I would pass on going at night all together. There is usually a long wait and especially after the sun goes down and the beaches close up. Go for lunch and you won't have a problem.

    What time is Happy hour?

Boshamp's Seafood and Oyster House: Monday-Friday 3-6 p.m. offering well drinks for $3.50, House wines at $4 a glass, 16-ounce domestic beer for $2.50, and 16-ounce imported beer for $3.50.

Is this restaurant open tonight? Or are they doing parking lot resurfacing? They didn't answer their phones.

I’m not sure they would close for that. A lot of their business comes in from the boat docks around back. I would keep calling. Certainly with checking, that place is amazing!

    Is this location wheelchair accessible?

Yes. You can access the inside by wheelchair, and I believe there is outdoor accessibility as well.

What is the dress code here?

There isn't one that I'm aware of. We saw everything from shorts, flip flops and t-shirts to slacks, loafers and button down shirts.

Anybody know if they have shrimp Alfredo? The menu isn't loading

I do not believe so. But their menu is diverse and food is amazing! Worth a visit.

    Do they take reservations?

Not quite sure but my guess is no because they don't take to go orders over the phone.

A fun detail is that the Destin family and the city of Destin have been closely connected ever since Leonard Destin, Dewey's great-great-grandfather, founded the settlement in 1835. Our server recommended the sheepshead, a local fish species. Until then, I had never even heard of sheepshead, which made the recommendation all the more interesting. We always appreciate tips like that, as trying something new is part of the fun of traveling. It tasted very good, although it was topped with teriyaki sauce and served with remoulade sauce. As a result, you don't really get much of the fish's natural flavor, but as a dish it was very enjoyable. The service was friendly and efficient, and we liked the place so much that we'll definitely be back. It helps that we also find the history behind it fascinating. The menu is quite varied, with plenty of dishes that sound tempting.
