Beautiful, clean and fairly well maintained park with trails, restrooms, two cafés and a small…read morestore. The trails are easy enough for children and the views are great from so many spots. Free parking at the entrance but it is also one of the stops for the city tour bus. It was mostly empty on a weekday but unfortunately the water features that make the man made waterfall was off. Despite being mostly empty, the whole place felt safe. Definitely recommended.

Weird ruins of old houses along the tracks, giant 2 foot long butterflys... all ending in a pretty town, Morretes, with a river and known for a specialty beef stew dish. The restaurants were dirt cheap even by Brazil standards. Our trip included a bus ride to some rundown colonial town that I don't know the name of but the views of the water was great. Its got pretty, its got quirky, its got typical Brazilian wackiness, its got great Brazilian drink and alcohol- it's got everything you would want in a Brazilian train adventure.

When you have the chance you should really check out this train ride, it will take some hours but you are passing by rainforest and lakes, going through tunnels and even having the feeling you fly on some parts of the route. It is very expensive to go with the first class, but the cabins are amazing and it would be some adventure you can't have in whole Europe anymore. 2nd class is typical open coach so you better get a seat next to the window ;) When you arrive in Paranagua there is a bunch of people on the streets, a big river and some cool places to see, so the trip is an adventure from beginning to the end. Make sure you get your ticket early enough!
