It's located in Quincy Market, which means it's super crowded with tourists and also it's hard to find a table to eat at. There are also many other food stalls here, which probably have better food than this place. Looking back, Boston Chowda is not bad, but it's not worth imo. read more

Why 3 stars? Jeez this place is overpriced.... The lobster rolls here were around $38. I went to Row 34 (a nice sit-down restaurant) and had a CHEAPER lobster roll. They are one of the more popular restaurants in Quincy Market - but I'm assuming it's because it's a bit of a tourist trap. I didn't have to wait in line for too long. This is a food court style restaurant for easy to-go orders. There is seating in the hall, but it can get crowded so don't count on it. I loved their Lobster Chowder. While in Boston, one of the things I was looking forward to the most besides Lobster Bisque was the Clam Chowder! While going to Boston Chowda I made sure to get anything I was the bit least curious about. I ended up getting the New England Clam Chowder, Rockport Lobster Bisque and Cold Maine Lobster Salad Roll. The New England Clam Chowda was definitely the best clam chowder I have had in Boston. If you are ever in Boston this place is a must if you like chowder. The Rockport Lobster Bisque was really good as well. The only thing is it was all liquid. I learned here that if you wanted lobster chunks ask for Lobster Chowder. I can only imagine how amazing the Lobster Chowder would have been. The only downfall is the Cold Maine Lobster Salad Roll. Disgusting was the only way to put it. After I took a bite I threw it away since it tasted like a stomach ache waiting to happen. Overall, the soups were pretty good, best I've had in Boston. We visited Faneuil Hall and Boston Chowda in July 2021. This was our second time dining at Boston Chowda over the last few years. I like that you can grab some food and have a seat in one of the Hall's main dining areas. It's a great spot to get a bowl of that famous Boston chowder that you come to Boston for, although it's not the best you can find it town. Even still, it is definitely worth a try. read more

This is the best lunch to order in Quincy Market, in my opinion. Although the line around lunchtime is typically long, it moves extremely quickly and the people behind the counter are scarily good at their job. I should have tried it somewhere else. The chowder here is okay, but pricey and nothing special. It really could be Campbell's. The soup is 85% potato chucks, a thick cream base, and some decent size hunks of clam. There was a lot of room for improvement, try a hint of lemon, more herbs and seasoning, better potatoes, more clam stock, more something! I suppose this is a good choice to try some chowder on the go - there is another seafood shop a couple of shops down that may be worth a shot. Whenever I have family or friends visit Boston, I always take them here because it's a quick way to get a taste of two Boston food staples (clam chowder and lobster rolls) all in the heart of Quincy Market ( a tourist destination that one MUST visit during their visit to Boston). Sure it is a bit pricey, but nothing beats the convenience and location! I always get the special that comes with a lobster roll, clam chowder and a small fountain drink. 9/24/22 -hot buttered man lobster roll: this was my first time ever trying a lobster roll and it was everything that i wanted and more! the roll was lightly toasted and filled with a generous portion of lobster. the butter really made this a satisfying meal since it paired so well with the lobster and bread roll. they also give you a lemon wedge on the side if you want to squeeze it on top. although it looks pretty small at first glance, it was still pretty filling. not sure if it was worth the ~$29, since i probably wouldn't get it again unless i was really craving it. the price also tends to change, so it could be more expensive/more cheap depending on the day, i feel like i wouldn't have gotten the same experience if i ordered the cold lobster roll for cheaper. so, i was really glad that i tried this one out since the wait in line was only around 15 minutes that day. Visited Boston and tried this place out. The New England chowda was phenomenal. First point I would make is to order it in a bowl and not a bread bowl. Unless you're a regular, you won't be able to appreciate the true deep and rich chowda without the bowl eating up your soup. The blend and aroma takes me back to the days people knew how to make a good NE chowda.
