This is THE place to go, especially if you're a strength athlete. I'm a semi-competitive powerlifter and had been dealing with a nagging SI joint injury, lower back pain, and glute tendonitis for the past 6 months. The first thing you'll notice when you walk in are the power racks, barbells, plates, and rack full of dumbbells. I've been to a ton of PT places over the years and have never seen anything like it! It's a lifter's dream. Dr. Amato was incredibly thorough in his evaluation. He's a powerlifter himself and was able to modify my movements with precision to get me back under a barbell as soon as possible. During my sessions I never felt rushed, or like I wasn't getting enough specific attention to detail. His virtual programming, load management, and immediate feedback not only gradually dissipated my pain, but allowed me to add 30 pounds to my deadlift max- COMPLETELY PAIN FREE! Terrible experience. After discussing my treatment and making an assessment on how best to treat me, I had to remind the therapist on multiple occasions, she was being too aggressive. She'd back off for a few seconds and then while she was chatting it up with others around us, would completely forget and get right back to over doing it! The worst part was when I called to cancel my future appointments, she asked how I was, I told her not well at all and was in pain from her treatment and that was it! She said "ok" and we ended the call without any real concern on what went wrong! I won't go there again. read more

Can't say enough good things about this place, the staff is amazing. They truly care about your well being and rehabilitation process. I've been a patient since February 2018 for ACL rehab. Unfortunately for me I was one of the 0.5% of individuals that got a post-operative ACL graft infection (completely unrelated to PT) there was just bacteria that got into the operative site during surgery. I under went a knee scope and wash out about 6 weeks post op, which didn't get rid of the infection. At 7 weeks post-op my surgeon decided to remove the ACL graft and supporting hardware. Why am I telling this story? I want to highlight the unconditional support I received from the staff at BPT&W. I was hospitalized twice for this infection and my main PT, Steph, was always in contact with me each step of the way offering encouragement and positivity that I will make it through and get better. The entire staff had my back, my rehab-aid (at the time, now full time employee) Danielle was extremely supportive as well. Even though I am ACL deficient in my right knee, I have achieved a full recovery. During the time I was hospitalized with the infection in the Spring I lost 20lbs and could barely walk. Fast forward to now and thanks to the rehab and strength programming (thank you Nick!) at BPT&W I have put back on all the muscle that I've lost and significantly strengthened my right leg back to normal. I have the option of re-doing my ACL surgery in another 6-12 months, if you've read this far you should already know what my choice facility will be for PT!!! read more

I'm so glad I found this place. I had been told by a few doctors and PTs that my high hamstring injury would be chronic, and there was no real way to fix it. So when I got an additional injury (this time I aggravated my lower back), I was pretty frustrated. Thankfully, I went here to see what they could do. I'll spare the details - Not only am I past both of my injuries, but they're also setting me up with a workout plan for my own specific goals. I'll update later once I've been at it for a while. These guys are the best because they keep themselves up-to-date with the latest research (specifically pain research). Simple as that. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this place and its people. From the owner, to reception/admin and of course the therapists. You can tell everyone truly enjoys their job and their co-workers. I just finished up multiple months of PT with Danielle and found her to be so caring, knowledgeable and professional. Getting old isn't always the spectacular fun they tell you it'll be. As we age, the regenerative balance that optimumly repairs our body before small issues become larger issues loses its ability to keep up. That being said, at age 41, I just woke up one day and my neck/shoulder/arm where injured and in serious chronic pain. In any similar situation prior to this, if I took it easy for a few days, just about anything aches or pains would correct themselves. Not the case this time. My pain was pretty consistent and debilitating with no improvement. My primary care physician put me on some medication, recommended that I see a massage therapist and the chiropractor, and provided me with some exercises to try to work my painful trigger points out. The medication didn't do much to help (other than to dull the pain), and the massage and chiropractic care made the pain much worse. Finally, a friend from out of town suggested that I look into dry needling. Having few other options before me that weren't going to be very costly (like an MRI) I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot. I called on a Tuesday to check availability of dry needling appointments, and they were able to fit me in the very same day. Driving through Boston in the evening is quite an endeavor, and due to traffic backups and accidents, I ended up being half an hour late for my appointment. They were very understanding and accommodating just the same. I purposely didn't take any pain medication or anti-inflammatories prior to my treatment, because I wanted a proper diagnosis. After a series of questions and muscle strength/mobility tests, they had it narrowed down to where my pain was radiating from. Needle time. I'm not going to lie, because of the nature of my injury sticking a needle into my trigger point was very painful. The second needle even more so. By the third or fourth I was used to it. By the end of the session, while still in pain, I could definitely tell that something had changed. I seem to be a little less bound, moving was a bit easier. By the time I made it home an hour and a half later, the pain had changed. Instead of sharp, shooting pain, my sensation had changed to more of an ache. That first night was the first time in several weeks that I hadn't taken any pain medication to help me stay asleep through the night. It's been a few days now, and while still tender and sensitive, I definitely feel much better than I did prior to visiting. I look forward to my next several dry needling appointments. You should certainly look into Boston Physical Therapy and Wellness if life's aches and pains are having a negative impact on your quality of life. read more

This is the absolute best PT clinic I have ever been to before, and I have been to MANY PT clinics as a result of being an endurance sports addict. I came in for a nagging back issue while training for Ironman Lake Placid. After a few weeks and an MRI, I then found out it was a herniated disc - cue freakout! I was considering dropping out of the race, but instead my PT Zak designed a plan to help get me to the start line. No day was the same as they tailored each session to HOW I WAS FEELING THAT DAY. I have simply never had that before and it was a breath of fresh air. Zak was incredibly supportive and helped get my back strong and get me to the starting line of Ironman Lake Placid in July. I owe my entire race to him as I certainly could not have done it without him. Aside from the wonderful and strategic care I received, these people all genuinely LOVE their jobs and helping people. I never write and barely read reviews, but felt in this instance it's worth it! I broke my ankle and because my orthopedic was affiliated with another local'ish PT place, I just went there. Needless to say, I wish I took the time to read reviews, and find a better place! There is no comparison between where I went and Boston PT. Not only was the experience better from the DPTs, to the PTA's but I actually got results, and feel close to normal. What everyone else is saying is true, there is definitely more hands on treatment, exercises and stretches that are adapted to you and your needs, and definitely a comfortable collaborative environment. I came to Boston PT and Wellness for my stubborn runner's knee. I had it for 2 years on and off and have seen a couple other PTs. However, I never fully healed. I chose Boston Physical Therapy and Wellness because maybe I could try dry needling or something new. I worked with Stephanie who reassured me strength training was the answer. You will sweat. You will work hard. In the end my knee pain significantly improved!! I'm now able to train for a half marathon. The PTs see you and another patient at the same time while a PTA or PT student assist and answer your questions. I was use to more 1 on 1 PT sessions prior but this format did not change my outcome. AMAZING STAFF! I went here for close to 9 months for a shoulder injury pre and post operatively. I mostly worked with Zach- he was exceptional. Very smart, motivating, and energetic. Caroline at the desk was always such a friendly face and so helpful, Danielle, Matt, Dave, Sean, and all the students were always there to help motivate and give words of encouragement. Found this facility a couple months ago on Yelp and figured to give it a try. My reasoning for needing to find a PT was due to an annoying pain I had in my lower back/hip area. I self diagnosed it as an SI joint issue and went from there. I scheduled an appointment with Zak, who is amazing, hilarious, and really down to Earth by the way. He reassured me that the pain I was feeling wasn't from a sprained SI but due to lack of hip mobility. He gave me a couple of stretches and exercises to perform at home and prior to heavy deadlifts and squats. After seeing him for a month which equated to about 6 visits I believe, the pain is no longer there! I've been able to deadlift in the 500's on a weekly basis PAIN FREE! I couldn't thank Zak enough for taking the time to help me thru the pain. I would recommend the facility and Zak to anyone who is willing to get better, not by stopping certain movements or exercises but by taking a step back and tweaking their form/technique for their greater good. read more
