This shop provides two things students in the area need - new heels on their fancy shoes at a cheap price because they are students and a key cutting service for when they lose their key after a night on the sauce. I know because I had to use both facilities more than once when I lived around the corner on Cromwell Road. I wasn't going to buy new boots every time they got a little scuffed or the sole started to go so I would leave them in here for a day and get them mended for a great price. They have been in the area since the 50's and know what they are doing when it comes to shoes and boots. I also love the nostalgic feel to the place with the old tins of boot polish in the window and the old posters advertising all this shoe-y. Plus the place smells like old leather and shoe polish, an odor that is hard to wack!

After a misjudged attempt to get a pair of boot resoled in a down town cobblers a friend pointed me towards this place. They specialise in doing old brand boots/shoes eg. Dealer boots and having been there since 1954 have the experience to back the claim up. My boots came back, if not good as new, but definitely with a few more years left in them yet. I thought the waiting time of a day was a bit long but I get the feeling that was to give them a bit of breathing space in what appears to be a busy little shop. Talking of the shop it's full of old posters, cobbling tools and some amazing looking footwear. It looks like the sort of place Geppetto would have been working on puppets years ago. Do pop your head in if you're passing. Pros: Expert repairs, quirky shop. Cons: Turnaround could've been faster.

Keys cut and they didn't work. Second time in a row it's happened, won't ever be going back. Avoid.

I can't thank Botanic Boot and shoe repairs enough for all the repairs they've done for me over the years. I wear custom made othopeic boots supplied by the hospital but the soles are very poor quality and wear far too quickly - so as soon as I get them I bring them here and get a good quality hard wearing sole put on them. They have extended the lives of my shoes many times over which, given how difficult it is to get a new pair, makes a huge difference to my mobility and quality of life. read more

This is without doubt or argument the best and most skilled shoe and boot worker in Northern Ireland. I am so happy to re-acquaint myself with him after many years in the desert of throw away footwear. I hope there's an apprentice to learn from the master. My Trickers boots are like new from the maker's. read more
I've had a few pairs of boots and shoes I've loved, but contemplated binning when they've reached the stage were heels and soles have worn away and they've been coming apart at the seams. I always plan to bring my footwear to be re-heeled before they get beyond hope, but I rarely do! Instead they tend to get to the stage of being only fit for the bin - that's when I decide to call into Botanic Boot and Shoe Repairs! However this repair shop has never failed me. They've managed to completely re-sole, re-heel and patch back together boots that were falling to bits. A brilliant shop which does a super job of bringing old shoes back to life, so they seem as good as new. It's also competitively priced. Unfortunately one small drawback is that I've never had them repair any footwear while I wait - even just the standard re-heeling. Instead I've found it can take up to a week to get such repairs done - maybe a mark of their popularity though. Would recommend this shop. read more
Stepping into this shop is like stepping back in time. From the classic shop front of this wee hidden place off botanic to the smell of treated leather when you get in the door. It's compact but the guy who works there is very friendly. Super handy if you need a key cut in a pinch. I've also had it on good authority that his heel and soul repairs are excellent, although sometimes there can be a bit of a wait. Great wee shop and super handy for when you need the type of services it offers. read more

This is a cut price repair shop that reminds me of the good old days where I wasn't born but have seen enough television to imagine I was there anyway. Located in what seems to be someone's front room, this terrific, great value shop will repair everything, cut keys and often will do it there and then if you need it. My friend's favourite pair of boots are on their last legs (unintentional pun) so they break more than most boots. However, Botanic Boot and Shoe Repairs breathe new life into boots that should have been put down by now! Lovely fella behind the counter and they do a great job at minimal cost. read more

BEWARE! I have had one of the worst customer experiences of my life. I left boots for repair, paid a deposit and was told they would be ready in a week and he would phone me then, he also showed me the soles and heels he would use. I waited 10 days and tried several times to phone him but he didn't answer. I don't live in the area or drive and I have to make a special journey which I did, only to be informed that he had ordered my materials and they sent the wrong ones. All lies - he had already showed me the soles etc. When I challenged him about not answering his phone he became aggressive and tried to make out that I was lying - that he did answer the phone! He informed me that I would have to wait a further week.. This is a developing situation and will be updated after my next (and final) visit. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! read more

Went in a week ago to get a boot and belt repaired... small jobs, but happy to pay for them. Similar jobs in the past in London (you know, the most expensive city on the Islands) cost me exactly zero, but I was happy to pay this guy. One look at the work & you can see immediate he doesn't want to do it... "the work won't last long", "you sure you want me to do it?", "I'll need a fiver deposit"... so I say yes, give him the cash & ask when they'll be ready. Monday this week he says. Thank you I says. So of course, on Monday I'm away with work & I can't get the time to get back to him until today. In I walk and I don't even have to produce the ticket - Him: They're not ready, they'll be ready on Saturday. Me: Will they be ready for sure? Him: What do you mean? Me: Well, you said they'd be ready on Monday this week, it's Thursday now. Him: I'm busy. Tell you what, do you want them back? Me: Yeah, I'll take them & my fiver too Him: See the moment you walked in, I knew you had a bad attitude Me: Oh Really? Him: *out back getting my items, comes back* Thank you mate, thanks Firstly, do what you say you're going to do. Secondly, if you're that busy, you wouldn't have known me from Adam - it was the first time I ever darkened his door last week, today was the last. Thirdly, he was the one who didn't have the courage to say he didn't want the work... happy to take a fiver deposit though... goodness knows what he'd have charged. I'm sorry for having the temerity to ask him to do what it says on your shop window! Won't be back - attitude stunk, can't keep deadlines on small jobs. Go elsewhere. read more

I often have brought down whole heaps of heels for proper repair and they've been done quickly and repaired so well. Many pairs have had a hard night on a dance floor. read more

Never use BOTANIC BOOT & SHOE REPAIRS! I Took 2 month old Bertie Boots in as the heel was wearing down a tiny bit and I wanted something on them to nip it in the bud so they wouldn't wear down more. Anyone who knows Bertie shoes, they are real leather with traditional wooden soles and the best quality. When I went to collect them I was told they couldn't be fixed as they were broken. I was completely shocked when I saw The wooden sole of the boot was now completely broke in half where the sole meets the heel! I informed him that was not how I left them in and I was then accused of leaving them in like that and lying to him. I would of noticed a boot broken in half, as I was wearing them the day before and put them in a bag that day to bring to the shop. You could clearly see where he had attempted to pull the top layer of the heel off in an attempt to add a heal but obviously used to much force and pulled the heal completely away from the leather and broke the wooden sole in half. He was extremely rude and aggressive while attempted to discuss the issue. If he had admitted this I would of seen it was an accident though hugely careless. But his attitude was shocking. It would of been physically impossible to break a sole in half in that manner through walking, not even climbing a mountain for two months! Plus why would I ly? Why would I bring in a shoe with a sole broke in half, falling off, thinking it could be fixed?!! Surely I would of returned it to the manufacture if such an unimaginable feat of physical science like that happened through walking! His aggressive, hateful attitude was disgraceful. My boots, an expensive treat I saved for are gone. The memory of this horrible experience and him will last longer unfortunately. He should be ashamed! I just want to warn anyone else of this place. I'll not get my boots back but I don't want others to be screamed and belittled in his shop like I was. Since this, I've had other people in Belfast complain about his attitude. Clearly I am not alone and this wasn't a one off. Try the InShops in the city centre instead, that is what I have since been advised. read more

It has been one of the worst place I have been so far looking for shoes repair. The person in charge, I don't know his name but he has blonde hair, blue eyes, fat, short height, is just stupid. I took two pairs of shoes there. The first, he said that he could not fix because was 'crap', and he will not work on cheap shoes; the second he said the could fix, but he almost destroyed it to show me how bad quality it was, and to overcharge. Also this person was very rude, mean and was blaming about his honesty and good values. Really don't go there. This person has serious mental problems. read more
