This is kind of a head shop style location with the usual suspects. Incense, bongs, tie dye, vape items and up in the back they have CBD oils. My main issue is the price and selection of CBD... when I asked about analytical for it, they didn't have it to show me. So much of this stuff in KY, if you want to sell a reputable product then you need analytical. I went twice to purchase, but after my last time I decided to go elsewhere for my product. Someone else mentions the parking lot... to say it's challenging is an understatement... don't go here after smoking a bong, you may just fall over trying to get out of your car. read more

The staff are rude, I think they don't like working in the morning, the girls weren't familiar with the laws and denied me and my wife service. It was completely understandable for not allowing me to purchase due to an out of date ID, I had one but it expired literally a month prior to entering the store. My wife which was with me was denied service due to my ID being expired yup dumb girls messing up a business. Save your self some time and find a more friendly place to find what you need. Whoever the girl is with the light pink hair has a horrible attitude. I went in with my friend to look at nose rings and she was super rude. Treated my friend like she was stupid because she didn't know what size gauge her nose ring was and the girl said "well I'll just get them all out and you can decide for yourself" If you're going to sell jewelry you need to be at least a little knowledgeable about jewelry and more understanding to people who might not know what they need. My friend has long nails and had trouble getting some of the cases out to look at the nose rings and asked the girl to help her and the girl said "I mean..." and started trying to grab the one my friend wanted like she was frustrated. Is she not there to help people? Just because you work at somewhere "edgy" like Botany Bay doesn't give you the right to treat people like that. Sorry girl. read more

First off the location of this place is weird. The parking lot can mess your front bumper up if your car is low to the ground. Guess there's only so much they can do about that since the building is shared with other businesses. When entering the store you'll find that it is small, dark and dirty. There are products just sitting on the floor making them unappealing and not easy to read. It's very cramped. Watch what they ring the items up as when you check out because I was charged double for two incense sticks! The check out lady wasn't really interested in what I read the prices as and asked a guy who gave the wrong price. I was so annoyed by this place at this point that I didn't even bother to fight it. My biggest complaint about this place however is the fact that one of the men working there was kind of out of line with a person in my group. He simply asked the guy if they sold e-cig/vape supplies. This could have been answered with a simple, we just sell the juice but no. This dude decided to go into a rant about how it's a closed market and it's going to be outlawed soon. Yeah, buddy we didn't come into your store looking to hear your opinion. We wanted to know what you currently sell. That was enough to guarantee we go up to Lexington from now on. The Botany Bay up there is 100x better than this shady looking place. read more

A lot of the reviews below are pretty outdated, I'm a pretty frequent shopper at Botany and have had a pretty good experience with them! Pink hair girl sucked but I haven't seen her my last few trips in, so I'm not sure if she's still there but almost all of the other employees are really great and friendly to work with. They have a good selection of almost all of the different things they carry- from gemstones to water pipes. My only complaint is their stuff can get pricey, especially anything for smoking/glass. I get everyone needs to make a profit but unless you have your eye on something really specific I'd check other places first. Still, with their monthly deals and rewards program it makes it more affordable. Still, it sucks when you spend all that money on an item that doesn't work like you wanted (wether it's broken or just not what you thought you needed) and there's a no refund policy. Still, it makes sense they can't take those things back. Overall, they're a pretty good place! Especially for what else Richmond has to offer. read more

They have great service, the owner is especially helpful and nice. The have wonderful products at fair prices. They're always willing to give advice on what kind of jewelry you need or what kind of glassware is best. I've been going here for over a decade and never had any problems with their products or people. Very cool place to shop. read more
