The food is okay, huge portions and they don't really tell you that. You could easily share most of the plates. The taste is good, meat is succulent and tender, yucca is great, soft, crispy. Caipirinha at $4 during happy hour, that's a good value! However for a family of 2 adt, 1 chd 1 baby spending $75 for a dinner in a simple brazilian restaurant like this is a lot. When we were here the restaurant had no power, so it was hot inside and no light to see it properly. Not sure why they stayed opened. We'll be back, hopefully for a better experience. read more

Tuesday night is definitely the night for ladies. Came here with some friends during our spring break per a suggestion of another friend. Every Tuesday is Ladies Night, and although I'm not a woman, is a great deal in my opinion. With a purchase of an appetizer, you get unlimited vodka caipirinhas until 11PM, which is a highly alcoholic drink containing vodka, limes, and sugar (similar to a mojito, but much much more potent). I just sipped on an original caipirinhas for the night and nibbled on my friends' dishes. The drink was so tasty and well worth the $7 I paid for it. It uses an alcohol called Cachaça, which tasted a bit like rum. I nibbled on multiple escondidinhos, which is basically a casserole of some sort of meat, cheese, and yucca potatoes. I loved the seafood one, and the hot cheesiness was a great compliment to my drink. I also tried some of another friend's steak, which was unbelievably tender. The music and dance floor was popping for a Tuesday night. It was jam-packed and the DJ played a good mix of top 40s, some salsa, as well as Spanish pop. It's not my first choice of music to dance to, but hey, we were in Miami and we needed to get down like the locals do. From capirinha to Brahma beer, they have all of the classic drinks that REAL Brazilians are looking for, with great prices. Not going to lie, after two capirinhas, you will be buzzed and proceed with caution (LOL). Aside from drinks, I would HIGHLY recommend their picanha, stroganoff, and carne escondida. Their salgados (fried appetizers, for those who don't know) are amazing and have great prices as well. Needed to let people know how RISKY it is to go to this location as it is NOT covid safe! Besides the fact that food was horrible. Service was horrific. We quickly finished our food and left the establishment as fast as possible. Not one employee corrected customers for not wearing their masks while walking around. The male hosts, owners, employees, whomever they are that worked their when we were greeted upon, weren't wearing masks themselves. We should have known then. Just a total disrespect for the pandemic and covid regulations. I am all about going out and supporting restaurants, but they need to get a handle on this. Went for some appetizers and a drink... my first time trying out brazilian food. I must say I enjoyed not only my time there but the food was great! I had about 3 different options for the appetizers section and of course a Caipirinha you have to try! Everything was fresh and tasty! It's a small place that doesn't seem to get busy until the Samba band arrives at 9pm. As soon as I walked in there was a strong smell of floor cleaner so we sat outside. Unfortunately some people were smoking outside (so rude!) I ordered the Italian salad. It's more like a side salad but they charge you $10.95, excessive price for what you get. Went to watch a soccer game and have dinner. We ordered an appetizer and beer that came pretty quick but with no utensils and the beer was warm. It took about 30 minutes before she returned. She apologized but clearly they were understaffed. She left again and didn't wait for our order. I found the owner and complained and he got mad and said they were doing the best they could and walked off, I would have been satisfied with a simple apology because they were pretty busy. A few minutes later he confronted me very angry and and told me to f... off and walked away. We never got a chance to order our dinner and it took another 30 minutes to get our check. I've lived in the neighborhood for nearly 10 years and I've seen this place in continual decline. This used to be THE neighborhood spot with great good quality food and a fantastic happy hour. The place was always packed and fun. Now, it's expensive, can't even say they have a real happy hour anymore, and they can't even get their air conditioning to work. Tucked away on NE 79th street is this small Brazilian gem. It's a restaurant/lounge that brings an authentic taste of Brazil to our backyard. My friends and I are always looking for something new to do around town. I came across the listing for Boteco, snooped around their website, thought it sounded great and made the suggestion to my friends. We went on a Tuesday night for dinner and drinks. Parking was a cinch; valet is available on premises or you can opt to park on the street. I chose valet. Upon entering you walk onto an outdoor, wooden deck area with tables and chairs. There is a bar inside, along with more tables and an area for dancing. We opted to sit outside as it was a balmy Miami evening, perfect for outdoor dining. The music was still audible out on the deck so it provided a nice, lively background. We were promptly greeted by a gracious server who introduced himself and explained the menu. He took our drink order; we decided on Caipirinha of course ;) we looked through the menu and discussed our options. The menu is written in Portuguese with English descriptions below. It's a nicely varied menu with traditional Brasilian fare. Appetizers, chicken, steak, fish, a few sides, drinks and desserts. Our drinks arrived promptly, and tasted great. A bit strong but strong pours are nothing to complain about :) We skipped out on appetizers and went straight to a meal. I chose the Picanha Fatida Na Chapa (Grilled sirloin steak with fried yucca) and my friend ordered the Filé de Frango (grilled chicken breast with a side of black beans and rice). Friend number 3 wasn't hungry and just stuck to drinking. Our food arrived a short while after and wow, that first bite: mmmm memorable. I can still taste it and it's been a while since that visit. The meat was cooked just right: juicy, moist, almost buttery. I literally paused after that first bite just to savor the experience. The yucca was equally great, good crispy outside and soft inside. Friend's chicken breast was equally scrumptious. For dessert we wanted to try something different so we asked for a traditional recommendation but unfortunately they were out of it.. but they had flan, which is always a favorite. The flan was great and provided a sweet ending to a delicious meal. We paid our bill and decided to walk inside to enjoy some dancing and more drinks. The inside of Boteco is a nice homey ambiance, very down to earth. I swear it reminded me of a latin abuela's (grandma's) house. There's shelves adorning the walls with religious images and little cups of rum/coffee and tobacco as offerings. Very spiritual vibe. For my spiritualists/santeros out there, I swear this looked like abuela's house with the glasses of water and offerings to the saints. I fell in love, I had never been to such an authentic-feeling place. It was refreshing to see a place so simple with so many happy people (I forgot I was still in Miami). We literally stood for a moment and just inhaled the happy vibe emanating from the crowd. Everyone was dancing to samba and having a grand ol' time. We ordered a beer and joined the happy people until closing time which was at about 2am. The dress code is very casual. Menu is very reasonably priced. Everything is below $20. Credit Cards Accepted. They offer happy hour specials and live music throughout the week, so it is definitely something to keep in mind if you're in the mood for something different. This has definitely become a favorite. Can't wait to return. I would definitely recommend this spot for a great lunch or dinner experience. Good place to just casually hang out, have a light, non-compromising meal and cheap drinks in a mostly outdoor setting. It's far from intimidating which encourages me to come more often. I particularly enjoy coming when there's a Brasilian Football match being shown. The energy is unbelievable! They do charge a cover when they show the games, and it gets so packed in there that they end up with a line of people around the establishment, trying to get in but not allowed because the restaurant's over capacity, almost an hour before the match actually begins! Great Brazillian eats here in the Upper East Side. They often have dj's or live music. I have yet to go there on a weekend, but there usually is a line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot. I need to go on a Sat or Sun because on weekends they serve up Feijoada. It's a long-simmered black bean stew (feijao means beans). Always a terrible experience. As a Brazilian, I can really say Boo to Boteco. Last time, I went there was on a Friday, it was full of people. And it was extremely hot. We had to twist and turn to be able to get to our table. We sat in the covered "outside" area. Fans blowing the mist, raising the humidity to 110%. And my hair... let's not even go there. We were joining a party, and most of the people in our group was not hearing what the others were saying and nobody was drinking anything. The only drinks arriving, were for the person that had left 15 minutes before. They were lucky, the caipirinhas were lacking alcohol and overly sugared. O meu amigo, Boteco lindo... I love when a place you go to feels authentic, and Boteco gives me that warm fuzzy feeling of a laid back Brazilian bar with no strings attached. It is the perfect place on a nice evening to enjoy a refreshing caipirinha (or four)... My favorite thing about this place is that it's open air, you can dress however you want, and you can stay for hours either at a table watching futbol or by the bar to catch up with a friend. The back patio looks like the perfect place for a booty shaking,brazilian frenzied barbecue, and I can't wait! I come here sometimes on Mondays to get my shake on...yes they have free Samba lessons on Mondays! Down a few caipirinhas and it's on baby!!
