Cake 2 Go - Their cake display

One…read moretime, though, I found this branch almost beside the bed and breakfast I was staying at for the night. Of course I had to try it! I was immediately drawn to the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake, but when I asked the staff for a recommendation, she mentioned that the bestseller was Toblerone Overload. And so I tried a slice of that (all cake slices are usually P100 up, so it's the usual price in cafes too), and it was quite nice with a mousse base and some Toblerone bits. Another time I was able to try their chocolate cake (I think it's the Mom's Chocoholic Fudge Cake), which a friend brought for a birthday celebration, and which I believe she also got from this branch. It was definitely one of the richer, more chocolate-y chocolate cakes I have tried. I definitely had to drink plenty of water in between bites!

And for those occasions, there's always a go-to place and for me, it's Cake 2 Go. Conveniently located on President's Avenue in BF Homes, Cake 2 Go is a one-stop bakeshop made for people like me who basically have no time. Their cakes are huge, reasonably priced, presentable enough for any occasion and not too good that you wouldn't want it all for yourself. Their cheesecakes are a must-try along with their famous Toblerone cake. Just make reservations in advance as their top selling ones are usually sold out on weekends. Their cake prices range from P 500-700 pesos and can usually feed up to 5-7 people with huge appetites.

Park Avenue Desserts - More Than Just a Sweet Stop! Rating:…read more4.5/5 This charming café may be known for desserts, but Park Avenue Desserts deserves a bigger spotlight for the wide range of goodies it offers! From gorgeously made cakes to indulgent pastries and local favorites with a twist, this place is a hidden gem for any sweet tooth or carb lover. Let's talk sweets and treats! Here are some standout items that caught my eye and taste buds: Dark Chocolate Clusters - Crunchy cornflakes generously coated in rich Belgian dark chocolate (PHP 225). Addictively good and perfect for gifting or munching during a Netflix night. Molten Brownie Bites - Rich, gooey, fudgy brownies (PHP 260 for 8 pieces). They taste homemade but have that polished, luxurious finish. Brookies - A brownie and chocolate chip cookie in one bite? Yes, please! (PHP 290). The best of both worlds, chewy and chocolatey. Ensaymada Queso de Bola & Cheddar - Fluffy, buttery, and topped with a generous amount of shredded cheese (PHP 130 and PHP 110 respectively). The Queso de Bola version had a distinct, nostalgic richness that I loved. Cinnamon Rolls - These are soft ensaymada-style rolls with cinnamon and raisins (PHP 130). Not overly sweet, which I appreciated. Cheese Rolls - Classic and satisfying (PHP 65). Savory-sweet, soft, and perfect with coffee. Smores Bar - Honestly, this was a surprise hit. The browned marshmallows on top give it a s'mores-like vibe--unique and super comforting. In the Chiller: The cake chiller is like an art gallery for desserts: * Macarons (PHP 65) - Light, crisp shells and creamy centers. The pistachio and strawberry stood out. * Mini Cakes and Mousse Treats - Beautifully crafted and Instagram-worthy. I didn't get to try them all, but the pink-striped cakes and salted caramel mousse domes looked divine. Perfect for gifting or special celebrations. Ambience: The space itself is cozy, modern, and warmly lit with gold accents and wood finishes. There's a clean, minimalist vibe, with enough space for catch-ups over coffee or solo dessert indulgence. What I missed (but coming back for!): I didn't get to try their savory menu like sandwiches and brunch plates--but they looked really promising. Based on presentation and their overall quality, I'd bet they're just as good. Final Verdict: Park Avenue Desserts delivers on its promise of beautiful and delicious. Whether you're after classic Filipino pastries, elevated sweets, or something gift-worthy, this is your spot. And yes--I'm definitely coming back for brunch.

Cinnamon roll and croissants have a sour taste that I cannot identify. It's not a terrible taste but noticeable. Cheese cake is delicious. Small area available to sit and enjoy pastry and coffee. Purple Oven - Revel bars, quiche and macadamia cookies!

But Purple Oven's decadent revel bars changed that opinion pretty quickly! When I moved to the area, I was happy to find out that it's just one tricycle ride away from my condo (and I've abused that ever since). It's always been my go-to bakery for special occasions. Of course, the revel bars are always a party hit, as well as their cakes. But I think their cookies are one of the best I've tasted! (And i've tried alot, mind you.) The chocolate macademia cookies don't scrimp on either, and is absolutely mouthwatering, especially when they're just fresh out of the oven! (You can cheat this by putting it in the oven really quickly, at the lowest setting so you won't burn anything.) Purple Oven doesn't just do desserts either! They've got a pretty good selection of bread and quiches! Perfect for a lazy brunch at home. Just pop em in the oven the next day, and they go so perfectly with some coffee or tea.

I love everything about that place, I could really spend hours just smelling their food and staring at their desserts. And it doesn't help that they actual load a new batch of goodies in the oven every hour (with a schedule posted on the chalkboard of what's cooking by what time), I think I sat there for half a day and didn't even notice I've been there that long. Whether you're in for a savory treat or a sweet-tooth satisfier, they have so much to choose from. My top picks are still Grandma's Chocolate Cake which has layers of caramel between moist, rich chocolate cake topped with chocolate ribbons and the Banoffee Pie which has a pie crust filled with banana, cream and butterscotch. If you want just a quick bite, then try their cookie selection. I love the chocolate macadamia, very chocolatey and chunky and not too sweet.

Guess what was delivered to our place? An EMPTY birthday cake. It ruined our family celebration. (picture attached) We were truly unsatisfied with your service, uncooperative, and neglected communication. We asked for refund, however, you mentioned that you can refund the amount paid for flower decorations. We even asked to even add at least delivery charge to the refund.... But still, only P800 for your mistake??? We feel that it is very unfair that we spent a lot on it, ordered it 5 days in advance, called everyday for update if you got the design, did our best to make communication work out on our end, and in the end a disaster. How could you let this happen? How could you give an empty birthday cake when we paid extra for each flower and mentioned the dedication? We are very disappointed that our order wasn't taken seriously. We hope other customers won't experience the same situation.

This caramel cake is not too sweet and has a light and fluffy chiffon base so you'll want to have another slice :3 Their cakes and other baked goods need to be pre-ordered at least a day before and picked up at their lovely home along Polaris St. Bel-Air, Makati. It's not convenient, but it's super worth the travel! I love how the staff can be accommodating sometimes especially when we just ordered on the day of pick up (oops), and words on the cake can be personalized (without character limit!). My family's usual order is the 9x12-inch caramel cake that's worth P1000 (with free personal message on cake and 1 candle). Not a bad deal when we know how much dedication and quality this homemade goodness is done (and taste) over the years. Highly recommend this to those who want a light cake for family and friends. Kudos to Costa Brava! ;)
