The croustillant baguette was excellent and it was nice and crunchy and chewy. I love baguette with a crust and the ones make here is very good. The chocolate and coffee eclair was excellent as was the Mille feuille with a vanilla custard. This place is open on Sundays unlike many other places in the village. The line up was constant and the service very friendly and nice. A great place for your baked goods in town. It's a short distance from the city centre.

It's also where the locals go as the prices are much lower than in the village a couple of km's away. Just as an example we went to a cafe just before popping in here and, a coffee and croissant was about €4-5. Here it is €2 for the same thing ;-) They have a huge open kitchen in the back and, you can see the baker feverishly working on making bread. The bread was warm when we picked it up. They say they make artisan bread which means, made by hand and almost all the bakeries around say that. The quality of the bread is ok. It's no comparison to the quality of the barkers in Marseille. The bread was a bit more chewy and not as nice as the ones we had in Marseille. The pain au chocolat was the same as was the cheese stick. A bit too doughy and chewy for my liking. Some people love that stuff. Service is good and English is spoken here. All in all not a bad place to shop for cheap baked goods in Ste-Maxime. As we are staying within walking distance to this place it's great to have a decent baker close by ;-))

This place is very popular, so if you are in Saint Tropez and you want to have some amazing pastries, you GOTTA get there early or all the best selections will be gone, especially during high season. Which reminds me, if you are planning on going to Saint Tropez during high season, you GOTTA stay in Saint Tropez or you will experience gridlock traffic. If you are staying anywhere else like Saint Maxime, Canes, Nice, or anywhere else in Cote d'Azur and you are planning on driving to Saint Tropez during high season, I beg you to leave your hotel no later than 6am to beat the traffic going into Saint Tropez and don't leave Saint Tropez until about 10pm to avoid the traffic going out, unless you leave early like around 5pm. It's probably best to have made reservations at a hotel in Saint Tropez for that night. Besides, you do not want to miss the nightlife in Saint Tropez or Ramatuelle/Pamapelonne Beach, you GOTTA-DO-IT. Club 55 and Nikki Beach will be an experience you will never forget. Lot's of celebrity sightings. Sorry, kind of mentioned Saint Tropez more than La Tarte Tropezienne. :-)
