Really nice woman mans the front of the house. She doesn't appear to speak English, but she is very friendly and helpful nevertheless. We ended up coming her twice during our short stay in Blois because everything there looked so good inside. The first thing you notice is the rows of bread. pastries and other baked goods. Several varieties of quiche and chausson; batard loaves in olive, chèvre, lardon, and more; boules, baguette viennesoise (regular and au chocolat, croissant, etc. they also had some heart looking salads like lentil and salmon. On the menu they have available various panini and sandwiches as well (though these appear available only through lunch as we tried ordering one at 5 without any luck). In all we tried a salmon quiche, chèvre loaf, and a chicken panini, which were spectacular (and all very cheesy). When we stopped by in the morning, we also noticed that this is the place in town for baguette, as it someone walked in literally every minute with a huge bag that was promptly filled with at least half a dozen baguettes. Seriously, the quality and service here really is what you think of when you picture a cute French bakery.

While the menus come in a range of prices, we took the lowest price menu "the confidence", which is 38 Euros. For that you get amuse bouche, a starter soup, a starter, a main, a dessert and the mignardise. That's a lotta food for 38 Euros. We also added wine onto that, of course. We started with a glass of rose (at 5 Euros!), ordered a half bottle (can't remember which), and then finished with two glasses of Chenin. our total bill came to 120 Euros - a steal, I think, for everything we had. And for a Michelin starred restaurant (which i believe it is...) The only thing I might criticise is the food didn't seem super inventive. But, we did take the basic menu, so maybe things get a little more unusual the farther upscale you. Regardless, everything we ate was fantastic. The potato/chorizo emulsion/soup thing they serve before the meal is amazing. The service was excellent. We took a seat outside on the terrace directly in front of the chateau. Having peaked inside, it looked beautiful, but maybe a little stuffy, so I'd eat outside again if I return.

I have a food allergy and cannot eat food cooked with alcohol. The head waiter tried to convince me that the alcohol cooks off and he had an attitude. I did not ask for special treatment and would have been fine eating bread and was just happy to be there with my partner. The wait staff seemed annoyed about it and the service was slow throughout the restaurant. Potatoes cooked in clay, which had to be chipped off was very cool and the presentation was fun.
