I recently played this golf course and overall had a solid experience, especially considering the price. The course itself was in good condition. The fairways, greens, and tee boxes were all well maintained and enjoyable to play on. The layout made for a fun round and felt worth the money. That said, the driving range was very disappointing. It looked pretty neglected, almost like it hadn't been properly maintained in a long time. The mats were worn out and in rough shape, and a lot of the range balls were dirty and even cracked, which took away from the warm-up experience. The golf carts were older, but they were still functional and got the job done getting from hole to hole. The bathrooms, however, also weren't great and had a strong unpleasant smell, which could definitely use attention. Overall, despite a few noticeable drawbacks in the facilities outside the course itself, I would still recommend it as a solid value option if you're mainly there to play a round of golf rather than use the practice amenities. read more

Course itself was in great condition and fun to play. Although, the range looked abandoned and was in awful shape. Another downside was as I was about to finish the course, A guy that claimed to be a "worker" ran into my friends golf cart and nearly hit his bag which could've caused serious damage. Not sure if the guy was intoxicated but he was slurring his words and tried to play it off as if it wasn't a big deal. read more

Played it 3 times now.. and was weary at first due to negative reviews but proceeded because it was the only place in San Diego we could find to play on a sat last minute. Honestly, not a bad golf course. Just played my first round here and after looking at a bunch of the reviews I was super nervous. First thing was the customer service is great, staff is super nice and inviting. I had never been here before so I didn't really know where anything is and got helped pretty quickly. Driving range is in pretty bad shape and goes directly into the sun so not the best set up there but at least they have a place to warm up, and the range balls weren't badly priced. Green fees included the cart fee and they're super chill about carts as long as there's plenty available. Food was really good, defintely lots of options past the typical hotdog you'd get at the turn. Love the idea of having a 19th hole, although the course can be slightly confusing to navigate at times. Some blind shots that could use some sort of indicator that the green is clear. Some tee boxes are in the deadliest locations for errant shots from other tee boxes, almost got nuked on a couple holes. The carts don't have shields either, huge L. All in all the greens were in good shape, fairways were not a problem and the course plays nice and difficult in certain situations. Super, super fun course to be out with friends and family, would definitely play here again. Worth seeing the course for the price they charge, just be prepared the pace of play is slightly slower than typical, but not in a bad way. read more

Quirky but super fun course with great value! The greens have nice slopes, which I love, and both the fairways and greens are in decent shape. Anything off the fairways can leave you with some questionable lies, but we played it with preferred lies and it worked out fine. From the blues, a few of the par 5s played under 400 yards (which felt odd), but overall it was still a good challenge. I think low handicaps would really enjoy taking it on from the black tees. All in all, excellent value for the money. If it were closer, I'd definitely play it more often. read more

I feel that the owner, Mr. Kim is just letting this place run itself into the ground. Ever since the redesign in 2016/2017 that was supposed to make it better, and less expensive to maintain by removing 3-4 holes of the old course, there was a great hope in the community that it would truly be a great place to play! It seems that not only has it not improved, but the owner just doesn't care to try. Sand traps are just hard packed dirt, fairways, are moved weeds with several dirt/mud washed out areas, the golf carts are consistently handed out with torn seats or burnt by multiple cigar/cigarette holes, and the clubhouse is no place you'd want to spend any time or eat! I live on the golf course, and want it to be much better, but Mr. Kim is just not showing the community that he wants to bring it back to glory! read more

I was so excited to play Boulder Oaks after hearing about all the money they put into changes and upgrades throughout the course. I was so disappointed. It only to see what had become, but to also pay the fees we did while they were literally "playing through" their winterizing the course and preparing for overseeing. Any other course would have disclosed this at booking. Course it horrible. Yard markers are not accurate. GPS is not updated from the old course to the new layout after all this time. Golf carts are very old and outdated and the course is not ADA friendly or complaint. Playing with my friends and the staff were the best part of this experience. I will never play here again. Before you follow the reviews, see when they are dated. This is not the course that existed in 2016. It *was* a nice course. Today - quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had on a golf course. Every year, some buddies and I from Seattle go down to San Diego to get some vitamin D and lose some golf balls. This course was on the way to the airport, so we gave it a shot. Four hours of my life that I'll never get back--and we didn't make the 12th hole. We quit after waiting ten minutes - On. Every. Tee. The pace would have us finish in 7 hours, long after we'd miss our flight home. The architecture of the course looks good - when it was built in 1965 or so? Unfortunately, whoever owns the course today is using it to milk money without making *any* investment in the course itself. They must space tee times every five minutes - a four-group backup on the first tee? Really? The course conditions looked like the Gaza Strip after the IDF got done with it. I have never, ever seen a course in this poor shape, anywhere (and that includes the Admiral Lehigh in Florida that cost me $22, with rental clubs and cart!) The driving range in Tin Cup was in better condition. The one and only saving grace was poor Madison who was manning the bar/pro shop/restaurant/pretty much everything. At least the beer was cold. I would rather drink ground glass in my margarita before I'd play this course again. Please - save your money, go *anywhere* else. read more

Roughs are over grown to the point you see where you hit your ball, but you still cant find it. Very frustrating. Hole numbers are spray painted on wood Cart paths are super rough Holes and tee boxes have been relocated & shortened with no signage to let you know where to go. To many holes have blind tee shots. If you play the whites the par 4&5s are super short. It plays more like an executive. The greens were lush and perfectly maintained, and the fairways were in fantastic condition. The tee boxes were also well-kept, making for a smooth and enjoyable round of golf. So this happened about three weeks ago when I was doing a delivery. I was driving on Meadow Glen Way E when I see something flying from the sky and cracked my windshield. I was shock because I was driving and it is a safety precaution when providing delivering services. I was trying to figure out where was the object that hit my windshield, than track it back and saw it was a golf ball.The only golf course I passed by was Boulder Oaks golf club! Once I finished delivering , I went straight to the golf course to to expressed my concerns about the damage that occurred to my car. One of the staffs contact the manager but also drove to the golfers that were on the field to see if they would be honest about a golf balls went off the golf track. All of the golfers claimed "they didn't do it!" I think that's the most upsetting part of all, not knowing who did it or if they had surveillance cameras to prove it or even have golf nets to prevent any danger or damage to the public! Overall, this is not acceptable the fact that there's no solution too all this. The golf course can't really do much about it since they're in the middle of all this, but I appreciate trying but hopefully you guys can find better improvements on resolving situations like this! Went there today after golf to eat at the club house. Normally my son and I like their burgers and onion rings. We waited 45 minutes for two cheeseburgers and onion rings and when we got it, it was probably the most disappointing thing we have ever paid to eat. It was absolutely terrible. I couldn't put the burger down. Not sure if the meat was bad. But between the overly dry and burnt bun mixed with more onions then you could possibly eat and the meat didn't taste good either. It was terrible. This is the second time in a row where the wait was ridiculous especially when she only had one table of three to serve before us. We will never eat there again. We are getting sick from this right now. They should be ashamed they served this to their customers. read more

Great Food! They have a chef that cooking fantastic dishes every Friday night that are yummy. It's a special in Addition to normal menu of American food. Not a lot of selections, but the chef special was where it was at! Would have given more stars, but the bartender seemed put off by having customers. He was too busy talking to the locals and just was not friendly at all. But the chef was friendly on the other side of the place. This review is not so much about the course itself, but about Pete Kim the "owner". This guy is greedy and has zero customer service skills. Pete has been taking advantage of the Hidden Meadows Community for years. He is using the COVID-19 pandemic as a source of profit. I had, up until now, frequented this course several times weekly and have two memberships totaling $720.00 yearly plus green fees. My Son and I went in to play a round, when the total came up I realized I was being overcharged. I questioned this as Pete has tried to overcharge me several other times. He claims that based on the new social distancing rules that he was charging each player per cart. Here is the problem, both mine and my son's memberships include a cart. We were sharing a cart even though logically we should have each had our own based on the terms of our memberships. I questioned Pete regarding his pricing. He proceeded to lecture me on how it costly it is to run his golf course. This is the perplexing part of the whole situation. Pete sets the pricing. Instead of making people feel bad about asking him a question or feeling that they are getting ripped off, Pete could have the courtesy of at least trying to offer a satisfactory explanation. He could simply modify his pricing or membership agreement, but he would rather belittle his clients and make himself out to be the victim. This isn't so much about the money, it just seems that Pete Kim could not care less about his clients or his neighbors. Needless to say, I will be canceling both memberships and no longer giving Pete Kim any of my hard earned money. There are a lot of great golf courses around. I would gladly pay more money to NOT deal with Pete. BEWARE of this place the owner will try to rip you off. read more

As a homeowner that lives next to this golf course... it's pretty much a disgrace. This place is an eye sore. Most of the letters that denote the name of the golf course restaurant are actually missing. The roof is in an embarrassing state and the grounds are unkempt with weeds everywhere. If you venture into the restaurant, you will receive okay drinks at the bar and subpar food from the kitchen...sometimes inedible. I don't understand why the owner doesn't take more pride in this property as it is truly a hidden gem within our community. If only it was better managed it could be amazing. read more

If a negative star was possible this would be the place to do it. First thing, this place is so backed up so don't expect to get in a rhythm here. Second, the bar is absolutely gross and not sanitary... god knows what the kitchen looks like. It probably was a good thing you can't find working number to order food while you golf. Lastly, this course was the worst quality course I've ever seen in my life. The course fees should be no more than 30 bucks here. Save your money and stay home rather than go here to be fooled. Been golfing here with family and friends for over 40 years now. Hidden Meadows Escondido is a hidden gem and when the weather is good this place is absolute heaven. The prices are great so they sometimes can get crowded. I like taking advantage of their weekday sunset rates in the afternoons and they have incredible food in the restaurant and a full bar with standing bar tender at the ready at all times. Try their cheese burger after a round of golf, I actually had one the other day kinda by accident, a family member ordered it for me, oh I was amazed it was like a $25 dollar burger you would get a Ruth Chris steak house, I mean it was that good. I think I paid a little over $10 for their burger here. All of their food on their menu is super fresh and good. They have a driving range and putting green here and they have been taking great care of their greens [they are challenging and fast to play] have fun. read more

The one good thing is that their snack bar does have good food though. This is really sad to see, because this course used to be so well maintained and fun to play. I just played the worst golf course in San Diego. I used to play here a lot when it was Meadow Lake and it was nice, and challenging. Now, there's dirt for a sand trap, middle of the fairway, barely any grass for a decent lie, tee's are in bad shape, greens are ok. On #12, our cart died, and the metal frames of the cart weren't secure as it was. You can easily get a time and pay $39. They redid the holes (changed Par 4 and Par 5's and somehow have the yardages all messed up. And there's no reflectors on the pins so when you shoot it it's going off the trees or something else. You'll never want to come back, they seem to not want to spend any money on basic upkeep of this course, which has so much potential, it's just sad. read more

Ok, this bar rocks! Brian the bartender is a gem. There are live bands Friday and Saturday nights.

Sadly this place seems to deliberately ignore glaring cosmetic defects in their "dining room" and bar area. They won't even replace/fix their sign out front. When they remodeled the golf course they left three holes entirely abandoned, literally ruining the beautiful golf-course landscape that used to be and that many homeowners adored. The image is trashy and embarrassing and has been that way ever since the change of ownership about 10 years ago. read more

I took my 9-year old to play this and he had a blast! The distances off of the reds are well proportionate to how far he hits it and the narrow fairways make it challenging. The layout makes you think instead of just ripping driver on every hole. We played "dirt is lava," if you hit it in the areas were the turf has been removed you take a stroke and drop it in the grass. This is great for juniors, and budget-conscious golfers. It is important that we keep affordable options in golf. Stop complaining about not having full, perfect turf coverage. Instead make some adjustments to the rules, like taking a drop when you are in dirt, in order to keep it fun and affordable. We showed up at 4:00 PM with no tee time, they got us out without any attitude and we played in 2 hours and 35 minutes! read more

My dad and brother have been coming to this golf course for nearly a year. They both have memberships which work out to $60.00 a month, the membership clearly states that a cart, and a fountain drink or a beer. The owner Pete tries to charge my dad two extra cart fees EVERY TIME and argues with him about the said fee. Needless to say my dad and brother will not be golfing here anymore. This unique hilly course was crowded on a hot Saturday; so busy that we had to wait for carts to become available. Club house perched on knoll distant from parking lot. It was a very challenging course for high handicappers. The 18 holes included narrow fairways, many hitting up (flag not within sight) and down from T boxes- at one hole we drove down a zig zag path down a steep slope after teeing off. The presence of rocks (boulders' a recurring theme), wild bushes on many fairway, etc. required precision hitting and good course management. Pace was not ideal as waits were frequent. Heard many "fores" all around. Even witnessed sheriffs' presence. Our experience got a lot easier after we started hitting from the red tees and bypassing hard "obstacles". read more
