Here are my thoughts: Atmosphere: calm, between casual and formal Decor: the area I was sat in had clean and simple decor, tables with white table cloth, white walls with walls sconces Music: low Christmas music Food: penne & dayboat shrimp (they were out of shrimp, so substituted for chicken; it was good), rigatoni bolognese (I didn't care for it. It had a veal and beef ragout that tasted a bit too gamey for me) Drinks: spicy prickly-rita (very tasty), Jersey peach (very tasty) Service: great, attentive, friendly Good for: date night, family dinner, lunch Comments: Overall it was okay. I didn't really like my main dish but the other dish that my fiend got was good. The drinks were also good. Made it back with friends for brunch last year and forgot to review - I remember the service was incredibly slow, they have a really fun brunch deal but looking back not worth it. We barely got any drink refills and it took forever for the food to come. We had one of our worse restaurant experiences in a while at Boulevard Five72 just now. It's really unfortunate - they've been a long-standing option for a really nice dinner for literally over a decade. The food and drinks were wonderful but they were completely outweighed by really, really bad service. Maybe it was the fact that it was New Year's Eve and people called out, but there was only one waiter that we could see for the entire restaurant. Two separate employees were handling bread and water but only one waiter for 15-20ish dining tables and however many bar tables. Adding to it, there was a different menu for New Year's Eve. There wasn't any mention of it on the restaurant's website. Up to 8:30 PM today, 12/31, they still had a prompt on the site for the Christmas Eve dinner. To put it better, here's the timeframe of our evening: 6:30 PM: arrive for our reservation on time, seated promptly 6:35 PM: menus arrive, water is poured 6:45 PM: we ask if a normal menu item is available (it wasn't, but that's no fault of the restaurant and I don't ding them for it) 6:50 PM: the waiter says it isn't. We order our drinks and food 7:20 PM: the drinks arrive (35 minutes after placing the order) 7:22 PM: the appetizers arrive 7:30 PM: the main arrives 7:45 PM: the main is done and the plates cleaned off 7:50 PM: the waiter offers the dessert menu, we spend a few minutes before declining 8:20 PM: having not seen the waiter since the dessert menu, we ask the employee pouring water for the check 8:25 PM: the waiter tosses the check onto the table 8:30 PM: the waiter brings the credit card swiper, we pay, and depart I don't mind having time between courses, and I enjoy lingering over a meal and good drinks. What I do mind is 30ish minute waits for drinks or the check, especially at a really nice fine-dining restaurant. I would go back but A) not on a holiday and B) not with hopes for good service. read more

I actually attended this establishment this time. There were 2 floors where the upstairs appeared to be for events and parties. The first floor had a decent number of tables, but not as many as I would have expected. The menu had something for everybody and was somewhat sophisticated. The service was great while the food came out in a timely manner. For appetizers, the jumbo lump crab "cannelloni" ($21) and angus beef tenderloin tartar ($15) was ordered. They both came with a side of Spanish chips that came out hot and crispy. The cannelloni part of this dish was avocado, and it was stuffed with lump crab. It was surrounded by pineapple, sriracha, and a citrus vinaigrette. The combination of the avocado and lump crab was nicely done. The crab appeared fresh and there was a hearty amount of it. I would have preferred a little more sriracha as the components with the avocado and crab was too sweet. The tartar had an egg yolk confit, ginger, chiles, and a ponzu chili aioli. This was excellent. There was a slight kick to this dish because of the chiles and aioli. The egg yolk and beef pieces were outstanding together. For dinner, I had the black bass special ($34?). It came over Spanish paella that contained shrimp, asparagus, and chorizo with a lobster froth. This was very tasty. The bass was seared perfectly and went well with the lobster froth. In the paella, I would have liked for there to be a few more pieces of chorizo as there were only about 4 or 5 and they were small. read more

Planned a corporate dinner here through Allison. She was pleasant and thorough. I like that they have a private room with AV capabilities as I needed to pipe our speaker in virtually. Edwin was an absolute life saver, as I needed an extra piece to connect my laptop to the projector.. he was hands on from the minute that I arrived. Service was very efficient throughout the whole event. The food was delicious! I had the scallops as an appetizer..served with lentils.. the scallops were perfectly prepared. My entree was the salmon... served with more lentils (I love them) and a very well balanced sauce, which I understand was a coconut curry broth. It all tasted so fresh and just wonderful. We came here for a friend's baby shower. Everything was lovely and the food was amazing. We had the whole second floor set up for the event. There was a bar serving brunch cocktail drinks such as mimosas, bellinis, and bloody mary's. The food was buffet style with several options available. I was able to try several different dishes at once. They served crepes, pancakes, eggs, and grilled chicken. My favorite was the omelet station. We were able to pick our own additions and the staff made it there for us. The staff was wonderful and went above and beyond to help out. read more

I've dined at this restaurant several times and have always had a good experience so I decided to book for Mother's Day brunch. Our waiter was absolutely awful! He never came in to check on us. Our food took forever to come out. I noticed that people who were seated after us had received their shareable appetizers meanwhile we waited an eternity for our food. I had to ask him three times where my drink was which was super annoying. He had to be chased down for coffee refills. When I was ready for the bill he was nowhere to be found. I had to ask two different people for the bill since he was MIA. Another waiter finally assisted me. The food itself was good but unfortunately the service was garbage. I'm so torn because one of the dishes we had was stellar (mushroom agnolotti) , but the entrees fell flat. This is the second time I have been here where the entrees did not impress. My mom couldn't eat the salmon because we asked for medium and it was rare. We asked for medium on the duck for my kid (kids don't always like rare duck) and we got totally rare. It had to be recooked and the birthday girl sat there waiting for her food. The confit ball on the plate was unpalatable. The citrus slices sitting in that heavy sauce were not cohesive. The sauces were so heavy handed on the chicken and the duck dish, and the half chicken was dry. Worst was the service, we came early and there were only 2 tables and the single waiter there was so inattentive I had to get up a few times to find him. We also made a reservation and mentioned it's a birthday and nobody said happy birthday... which.. ya know. Pay attention. Yay for the mushroom dish and .. nay for just about everything else. The risotto was alright and the mashed potatoes too, I'll give them that. Maybe they're better with sides. But the service was really poor for only having two tables to wait on. After the other table left the waiter was just hanging by the hostess stand and we sat pretty far away so we had to get up and ask for the check, get up to find him again and give him the bill.. not good. read more

I cannot believe I am just now trying this place. Where do I start? When I arrived I parked on the street nearby and walked in. I was greeted by the host and she walked me to the table. Our server was David and he was awesome. He knew his stuff and he was so attentive. The restaurant was cutely decorated and I liked the ambiance. The restaurant had brunch specials where you can order 4 sharables and one entrée for $34 and $2 mimosas, belinis or bloody mary. You cannot beat that deal so we got the vegetables, fruit, latke's & house cured salmon, and spiced sugar beignets. All were so good. I really loved the beignets. For our entrées I ordered the penne and day boat shrimp and my friend ordered the steak and cheese eggs. I loved my meal, it was seasoned perfectly. My friend loved her steak and eggs. The mimosas were so good as well and the waiter kept them coming. The bill came to $85 which was a steal. I will definitely be back! read more

As you can see from my last review I was here pre-COVID for a family lunch. I returned here post-COVID to enjoy another nice family of six for lunch. Masks were not worn or required here. I started with my Tanteo jalapeno margarita. I also enjoyed my New England style lobster roll with a butter toasted roll, celery, fine herb, lemon caper mayonnaise with asparagus for $24. I substituted their old bay spanish chips for the asparagus. Service here was great. We all enjoyed our lunches as usual and agreed we will likely return here for another family lunch. read more

I came to Boulevard Five 72 for a meeting with a pre-set dinner. They rented out the upstairs space, which was nice and spacious. I ordered the salmon and my dad had the chicken. The salmon was really flavorful and perfectly cooked. The half chicken was a huge portion - I think it could have used a bit more of a sauce, but it was also cooked really nicely. First time. Ambiance and the building itself are quite nice - it's a shame the food wasn't good and the service was slow and inattentive. My friend and I shared the French toast, 4 sad slabs of brioche on a plate - that were severely undercooked in the middle. We cut into the slices and the middle was like eating a soufflé. I ordered a duck confit hash with mushrooms and egg, which tasted fine but was nothing special. My friend's entree, the steak and eggs, wasn't cooked properly either - she ordered medium rare, and the steak came out cooked all the way through (they also didn't give her a steak knife? So she had to use her butter knife). It might've been okay if the service had been good, but we wouldn't really know, since the waiter only came to our table 3 times total, and with at least 15min in between each time. Overall, a big swing and a miss. It could be great, and the menu seemed smart - but with a severe lack of execution. Would not recommend. read more

Sunday brunch is a must. We enjoyed the pre fixe brunch menu which quite frankly is more than enough. The choices are plenty and so good. I love the sharing menu options. We had mimosas which is a brunch staple. They have an upstairs space where they were having a party. There was another dining area also hosting a large group. On a cool autumn day the outdoor dining was not used. Although it appeared that they were short staffed our server was attentive and friendly. We made reservations for brunch just in case. read more

My go to place for brunch! I love the brunch and typically bring people visiting here as well. They always have a positive experience. Food and service is always consistent and excellent! Staff is very friendly and attentive. You never have to ask for something- it is always quickly brought to you. The brunch menu is nicely balanced- steak and eggs, French toast, pancakes, bagels, various omelettes etc. The applewood bacon is to die for! The French omelette is delicious and comes with a side salad. It is my go to. The coffee is a special blend made by the owner. It is smooth and flavourful. There is a nice option to select small plates to share. Most come with drinks as well. Highly recommend! It is always busy and hosting very large groups and events. read more

Everything's good to great set to a really noticeable "easy 70s" Billboard soundtrack (The Eagles, Ambrosia, Steely Dan). Though the place has a romantic/slightly formal vibe, they completely accommodated my group of 8 adults and 3 kids (ages 1-3) with natural flair in their private wine room. This room had a stunning wall of hundreds of wine bottles and can hold up to 25 people. A reservation here is ideal when bringing/coralling kids this young. Their cocktails are good and sufficiently strong. For starters, their Lump Crab Cakes were very crabby with a delicious mix of spiced rum black beans, pickled cucumber, and paprika. Service was extremely attentive with zero pretension. In fact, the chef overcooked my bro's entree of pork loin and our server requested a redo even before it reached our table. While my bro waited, the chef gave him a crab-based app to eat (Yay!) and everyone else dug into their own entrees. I had their Lobster Risotto a la carte, which really stood out off of their prix-fixe Lobster Meal Menu and wow- it was just heaven- lobster, scallops, shrimp, and corn in a creamy risotto. (Their prix-fixe Lobster Meal is about $50 and normally comes with a lobster salad, lobster ravioli, entree, and dessert.) For dessert, the Banana Bomb is bomb! Get it! It's banana mousse/cake in a chocolate shell with a scoop of banana ice cream. We were nine outside on a Saturday, four couples getting together, with one adult son along for the ride. While we waited for drinks, hot rolls arrived. These were excellent. My glass of chianti was in excellent condition, La Portena`s large white Sangria hit the spot. Others in the group had cocktails, reports on these were good. The wait for our apps was long, My crab canelloni was worth the wait. Served at room temperature with avocado and a bit of mango salsa, this was an excellent choice. Others in the group tried shrimp and corn chowder and lobster salad. The family of three shared the seafood platter. I had a briny clam. I think the platter came with three bowls rather than the two listed on the on-line menu. Had a bit of their cold fish that was quite tasty, but I don't think it was poke or lobster salad, the listed components of the seafood platter. Perhaps the restaurant threw in a lagniappe of the night's special, ceviche. And then four or five helpings of plantain chips arrived. These were the stated accompaniment to the ceviche. They were quite good and the cooks had packed them in to metal French fry cups. These helped bide the lengthy delay until mains appeared. The table tenders kept our water filled, replaced the rolls while we awaited. La Portena's prosciutto wrapped veal chop was suitably large and savory. But the chef had decided not to pound it, and by the time it cooked through it was a bit dry. Accompanied by a potato gazette and sautéed greens (broccolini?) It made a commanding entrance, only to somewhat disappoint. My neighbor's seafood risotto went the other direction and disappeared in a flash. I had a special, black bass over shrimp and chorizo paella. The portion size was perfect, the fish perfectly cooked, the paella on point, maybe a bit more spice needed. Reports on the duck were also good. Unfortunately I cannot report on dessert. The two courses had taken about two and a half hours and it was time to go. So I can't give five stars, but I would still return if in the area. read more

Review purely for breakfast / brunch buffet for Mother's Day. $50+ dollars for a raw bar with oysters, clams, shrimp cocktail, meatballs, salmon cakes, sausage, bacon, chicken francaise, pancakes and a couple of things may seem like a bargain on paper but it's really not. The food is decent at best. It's breakfast / brunch food. The mark up premium is expected but doesn't mean its worth it. It feels like I was at a wedding banquet to be honest. Full disclosure: I attended a work event in the private dining room so did not pay for the meal. We were only able to order from a limited set menu, so not all the options were available to us. Food: - Seared Day Boat Scallops: smelled a bit fishy when it was brought to our table, so I was a bit concerned; however, the taste with the bacon lardons and celery root puree was good! - Roasted Long Island Duck Breast: surprisingly delicious! It was cooked perfectly medium rare (per request) and paired nicely with the port wine fig reduction. While the sweet potato puree was a bit sweet for my palate, when combined with the acidity from the cabbage, it made for a perfect bite with the duck. - Chocolate Cake: HUGE portion. I don't know how one person could finish all that in one sitting so would be better to split this with your date. The ice cream was the best part of that dessert Service/Ambiance: Service was slow, so we didn't want to wait any longer for a waiter to pack the leftover dessert because the dinner had already been a lengthy one. The main dining area seemed pretty full and lively but the whole atmosphere is comfortable and cozy with the warm lighting and wood textures. I have eaten there several times. always had a very good meal. I recently went for brunch, . The brunch menu offers a Cobb salad which is not a Cobb salad at all. all the ingredients were there but not chopped, big unruly pieces of lettuce big pieces of chicken and so on. It was just a salad, the magic is in the chop, that's what makes it a Cobb salad. I was hoping for the real Brown Derby Cobb salad. I would not order it again. The Huevos rancheros is more of a deconstructed Huevos rancheros . It was prepared nicely but definitely not huevos rancheros It is more of a breakfast platter with sausage and a folded flour tortilla and a smattering of black beans. I would not order again. Their French toast was prepared beautifully and was delicious. Service was poor . I had to pull teeth and wait a very long time to get a second cup of tiny coffee, could not get dairy for my tiny, coffee I had to drink it black. This was a special occasion for us, the poor service was frustrating and left me bummed out. read more

Ive heard so many things about this place that i decided tk try them out. I went on a frisay night and they were having lobster friday with a 3 course dinner deal whihc was maxing for the price! I started off with fresh water lobster salad with avocado and it was so good. I love the fact that it was fresh! I also received complimentary butternut squash soup omg!! Tasty soup and i wanted more! Then 2nd course was lobster agnolotti.Main course: roasted Herb crust angus filet mignon served with lobster risotto cake, asparagus, zucchini and butter poached lobster Dessert was caramel cheesecake I enjoyed the service received. Parking is average in front of the restaurant and more street parking on the sides. I will recommend this place to anyone. read more

we had our Thanksgiving meal here. It was good, but I definitely missed having homemade food. I felt like they could've put hot gravy on the table. The dishes were kind of lukewarm. Seems like the appetizers weren't freshly made. They perhaps may have been frozen overall it was OK. I would have to come there for dinner to give my full review. I think that Thanksgiving was somewhat rushed. They wanted to get you in and out as quick as possible. The desserts were no big deal. I came here last weekend for a reunion with some old friends (17 people). Because of the large group, we got some sort of pre-fixed menu for $65/pp which came with appetizer, main course, and dessert. Half of the group drank wine and alcohol, the other half were preggers and refrained. In the end, with alcohol, tax and tip, each person owed about $95 which is on the pricey side in my opinion. I believe if you ordered the dishes in the regular menu, it would not have come out to $65. It would have been closer to $50. ($25 for cavatelli) (Crabmeat appetize $14) (Dessert prob $10) For appetizer, I got the lump crab meat wrapped in avocado. That was simply amazing. For the main course, I got (aww shucks. I forgot what those little pastas are called) what tasted like gnocchi but not gnocchi. I recall now. It was called cavatelli with braised short ribs. That was also really really good! Finally for dessert, I had some very sour lemon thing and I salivate just thinking about how sour it was (not in a good way). Took my boo thing here for a brunch date on his birthday yesterday, and I'm glad I did. I made a reservation using Open Table for 12 pm, and we were seated right away a few minutes early. We did the pre-fix brunch: 4 things to share (appetizers), 1 entrée per person, and unlimited drinks (coffee, tea, mimosas, and bloody marys). Our bill came out to $51 and change. We're not big drinkers, so I had one delicious mimosa then we both drank tea for the remainder of our meals. We ordered the fresh fruit plate, mezza plate, ricotto stuffed crepes, and brioche French toast to start. The portions were small and barely enough to share, but everything tasted great. The baba gahnoush on the mezza plate and the French toast in particular stood out to us the most. Next time, we're definitely getting two orders of the French toast! Manny ordered the steak and eggs. He thought the steak was great quality and it was a perfect medium rare, but he mentioned that the char on the steak and the sauce didn't mix well together. He wished it was either charred without sauce, or cooked in the sauce without the charred outside. But overall, he enjoyed it. My duck confit, on the other hand, PERFECT. My all time favorite brunch spot! I've been attending this location for Sunday brunches for the past 3-4 years. You can't beat their prices and the quality of the food. For $35 you pick 4 items to share and one entree per person plus unlimited Mimosas or Bloody Marys. We usually go with the fresh fruits, ricotta stuffed crepes, French toast and pancakes. My entree is always the egg Benedict meal. For some reason it's not on their website but it is on their menu when you arrive. I would recommend calling for reservations as they tend to always be booked. I've been about 15 minutes late and they still accommodate me; yet, as curtesy to the next reservation its best to notify them. Every waiter thus far has been extremely excellent. They all accommodate us, provide great opinions as to what we should try and foremost are always on point with bringing our drinks. I recently went and noticed that they had one room on the first floor set us for a party of about 25 people. The setting look very cute and classy if you're looking to set up an intimate small gathering. For mothers day they have the upstairs set up buffet style.
