Based on that, I felt confident booking them and took the time to clearly communicate the vision and expectations for our event. I specifically explained that the kids attending were mostly older children and that we wanted the Grinch to lean into the chaos... be playful, interactive, and really have fun with the role (stealing gifts, causing trouble, etc.). Unfortunately, what we received was the complete opposite. The Grinch was scheduled to arrive at 6:30 PM. At 6:26 PM, I called simply to make sure they had a description of our home since it was dark outside. Only then was I informed that they were running late. I was never notified ahead of time. I only found out because I called. I was told they were about 14 minutes away, yet they did not arrive until 6:51 PM. When they arrived, it appeared that they parked down the street and changed into the costume in the car. The entrance into our home was immediately underwhelming. The business owner entered with her phone out, recording, while the Grinch stood there silently. He did not speak at all. He did not interact. He did not act like the Grinch. The costume itself was also extremely disappointing. The Grinch did not look the part....there was a hoodie visibly hanging out of the back of the costume, and he was wearing Nike Jordans, which completely broke the illusion. Several kids even commented out loud that he "didn't look like the Grinch." Instead of engaging, the Grinch mostly just stood there and shook his head. When kids tried talking to him, he said absolutely nothing. To make matters worse, the host noticed that we had food for the party and asked if she could have some, then proceeded to make herself a plate while the Grinch continued doing nothing. This felt highly unprofessional and uncomfortable, especially given that the entertainment was already falling far below expectations. The host then attempted to get the kids to play games with the Grinch, which was at least some effort, but that was short-lived. She then left to go to her car to get more supplies and was gone for up to 10 minutes, only to return and say she thought the supplies were in another vehicle. At that point, given the lack of professionalism, engagement, and overall quality, I informed her that we were done and that the services were no longer needed. We were booked from 6:30-7:30 PM. They arrived at 6:51 PM and left around 7:10 PM, yet I was still charged $240 for the full hour. I was beyond upset and honestly embarrassed in front of my guests. This experience was nothing like what was advertised or promised, and it did not come close to matching the positive reviews that led me to book in the first place. I would not recommend this service to anyone looking for an authentic, engaging, or professional character experience.
