I don't even want to give them ONE star.... absolute worst company I have ever worked with in ordering ANYTHING!!!! I ordered our chandelier FEBRUARY 15th - it is not May 11th.... Per the website it said 3-4 weeks delivery time. You could see how accurate that was. I called after a month of no contact, and obviously no light. I think he is the owner or manager - but Greg Bowers? You would think since it is his business and livelihood he would better take care of his customers. But, nope. You would think he was a 16 year old kid working after school. I was FINALLY emailed a "timeframe" to expect delivery. Which was first week of may. But, surprise again - no light. Keep in mind I have called them probably a dozen times now, since February. When I didn't get the light in the month time frame it took at least 4-5 phone calls to actually get a "response" on why it was delayed. The manufacture was behind... I even said, why wouldn't you simply email me and let me know? Such a joke. Icing on the cake? It is the second week of may - so again I call to check in on the light. I didn't hear back the first time I called. So, I called again. I expressed my frustration waiting since February and here it is May. She replies " February to May isn't that long of a wait for a light" ------ seriously? If the website said about a month, then yes February to May IS A VERY LONG time to wait for a freaking light!!!!!!!!! If you have read this far, simply don't order from them. Saves you a couple bucks? Congratulations. It is NOT worth it. Pay a little more money for a little more of your sanity! read more

Beware beware. Don't trust the website - In stock can mean out of stock for months. This is the type of operation that gives small businesses a bad name. I ordered outdoor lights from this company because based on their website, the item was in stock (and out of stock everywhere else). After my order confirmation, I didn't receive any update for at least a week before I started to get a bad feeling about the whole thing and gave them a call requesting an update. The after-hours operator said she would leave a message and someone would call me back. It took several more calls from me before I got a phone call saying the items I purchased would be out of stock for months. I'm not sure when Bowery Lighting planned to tell me that. Probably would not have said a thing if I hadn't hassled them. I asked to cancel my order. It was exactly what I was looking for! Lila, the woman who assisted me, was incredibly patient and informative. She offered great advice, and made many clever, informed, suggestions. We placed an order for a lighting fixture on the website on 1/1/16, got an order confirmation, and the credit card was charged. 2 weeks later the merchandise hadn't arrived (nor did we get a shipping confirmation) and we emailed, and then followed up a day or two later via phone. The receptionist told us someone would get back to us. Nobody ever did. Finally put a dispute in with the credit card company, so I've gotten a refund but this was clearly a waste of time and I've been a month without a dining room fixture. read more

Read a few responses from the owner below. They obviously have some personality issues here. So I placed order for some vanity lighting on February 4th and heard nothing until today (Feb 25th) so I called and let them know my situation and later got an email Greg S. that said the unit wouldn't come until March 9th. I then called back and pressed the issue a bit more and they didn't have a solution. I did some digging online and found a competitor that claimed the unit was available in 24 hours and there were 100 in stock. I called that company and they confirmed that were 1,000 units (no exaggeration) in the manufacturer's Ohio warehouse. The competitor's customer service rep even took the time to call the warehouse when I placed an order to confirm. Bowery's antiquated website that says "estimated 5-10 days" to ship. When I called Greg back he rushed to get off the phone with me to prove me wrong (gave me no time to tell him I had already ordered with someone else and that the purpose of my call was to cancel). Then when he got back on the line with me and told me that he could in fact ship it out tomorrow (from Ohio...go figure!), I told him "thanks but no thanks" since I already ordered with the competitor and he gave me some attitude about why I didn't tell him that before. Ummm...maybe because you rushed me off the phone to try to prove me wrong? Not to mention, the competitor price matched. A couple of recommendations/thoughts: 1) Update your technology if you want to compete in the online marketplace. Your competitors clearly have you beat in that category. 2) If an order that says "5-10 days" to ship is not available in 20 days and will not be for another 10 days, you might want to consider communicating something to your customer. 3) Jerks don't get ahead in a customer service-centric business. Find some nice folks (maybe not from Long Island?) to run your phone. read more

I wish I had read this online review before purchasing anything with this company. I am in a similar situation as Stephen H. I placed an online order on 8/26/12 and have yet to either receive my product or get an update on the status. I have tried to contact them via phone & email, and have been unsuccessful in all attempts. I did speak with somone named Bill in the showroom and he informed me he was unable to look up my order and would have to call me back (he never did). I purchased a grand piano LED lamp which proved to be defective. After calling the manufacturer, I was told to have Bowery lighting call them with an authorization to send me a replacement lamp. After numerous unanswered calls and emails over a 10 day period, I have yet to get any customer satisfaction. What good is a company that won't be undersold yet won't reply to customers with a defective unit?! It was paid for two months ago, and now I asked American Express to reverse my charge card until BOWERY LIGHTING replies to them. I have proof that a light was returned in excellent condition within the time frame and that the manufacturer issued a refund that never got passed on to me. So Bowery now has both my money plus a refund from the manufacturer and they will not respond on phone or e-mail anymore. Avoid at all costs. No matter how good the deal seems, you will be disappointed and angry if you order from Bowery LIghting and it's affiliates. I've logged over 30 interactions over the last 4 months with anyone and everyone who would answer their phones. Even talked with "owner" Greg Shapiro who gave me his "personal email address" and assured me he'd take care of my complaint. The worst service ever! First you have to wait forever for your order to ship. No one will contact you or send you any shipping info unless you bug them, I called many times and would get a voice mail, finally one day someone answered the phone and said he couldn't help me because all staff were gone for the day and I should expect a phone call back the next day. Of course no one called me, instead someone finally sent me a tracking number!!. I got not exactly what I saw online, didn't even fully open it and packed it back as it was originally packed. I right away asked for a return label and the guy, I think his name is Greg Shapiro, would pretty much ignore my request, he was emailing with me back and forth for a few days and still no word about my return. Finally I said I will have to have better business bureau deal with this because this was getting way too frustrating. Finally he responds with: "there is a 25 % RESTOCK FEE plus shipping charges, please confirm you want to still continue with return so we can get an rga issued for u" I have never experienced anything like that! Very unprofessional and if your order is not what you expected from seeing it online, forget it, they will make it miserable for you! I placed an order with this company on April 9th 2014. The charge was issued to credit company right away while I was waiting the product to arrive. After couple weeks, no emails from the company and no product either. I called their phone line on their website couple times only to get a voice message. I left my message with request to response to my order status. But nobody called to let me know what is my order status. Frustrated, I called a week later. Fortunately, some very rude lady answered the phone, and a guy named Greg told me he was going to give me the tracking number thru email. But I did not get that tracking number on the day he said he would. I started to have doubt about the trustworthy of this company. The following day, I tried to call and cancelled the order. Nobody answered. I left the message to cancel this order. Tried again the next day, nobody answered. Then couple days later, I got an email said my order is being shipped. :( I already found other replacement lights for my remodel after almost 1 month of waiting.. Since my call never got answered, I tried to send them email to state that I already have cancelled the order but the company ignored my request and still shipped the lights to me. I said I need to return these lights. He said "you will need a rga number in order to return the light. I requested that rga number and he never gave that to me.. I should have never placed an order with this lighting company. If they would let me know that " I will need to wait" then I will wait. Just like a lot of other people on here, we are not pleased with this place AT ALL. We ordered something from them Feb. 1st. It said in stock and ships in 2-3 days (now the website says 5-10 days). I called on 2/10 and the lady had to take my name and number and have someone call me back before the end of the day. Anna called us back and said the item is backordered until March 31st. We needed the fixture before Valentines. My husband called back the next day, 2/11, to cancel. Bowery decided to charge his credit card that same day!!!! A guy answered that and said it has been shipped and he'll send a tracking number. No tracking number was sent. We called back yesterday,2/17 and the guy said it wasn't our order. It was someone else's order. So we said to just cancel the order. My husband doesn't have time to deal with this stuff. The guy said OK. All of the sudden today, 2/18, we get an email that the item shipped yesterday. Seems kinda shady by charging his credit card the day after the initial request to cancel then ship it after the 2nd time we told them to cancel. If they were more organized, they'd see that we originally wanted it cancelled a week ago. It's not our problem that they were looking at someone else's order. They have the audacity to say we need to pay a 25% restocking fee. I THINK NOT!!!! We WILL NOT be accepting any shipment coming from Bowery Lighting! This is the company's problem and they need to eat the fee! After trying to be patient for a month I can honestly say that this place is awful. My husband and I waited an entire month for a part to come in after originally being told it would be in within 3-10 days (a rush was being placed on it). This occurred after we ordered outdoor lighting fixtures and our electrician came to install them and noticed that we didn't haven't the mounting piece. When we ordered the lights from Tracy she knew we were using them outside and neglected to tell us we needed to order an additional part. It has now been almost 3 months since we placed the original order and after being given the run around about where the mounting pieces are the lights are still not up. My husband and I have called at least weekly or twice weekly for the past 3 weeks and get the same answer every time "we don't know what happened but it'll be in by Tuesday at the latest" then when we call Tuesday we hear "we don't know what happened it'll be in by Friday at the latest" and this is a broken record every single week. They swear they tracked the package but then when we call back they can't identify the tracking number. Twice we were actually told that the package was being shipped and would be delivered that day or the next day. When we would call to follow up, they had no idea what was going on. There was not the slightest hint of accountability for any of this from this place. They have no concept of customer service. Once you place the order and they take your deposit, they don't seem to care what happens after that. Needless to say we are fed up and incredibly frustrated. I would not recommend this company to ANYONE. Save yourself the stress and aggravation and get your lighting fixtures elsewhere!!! read more

We ordered lights on the 25th of July. We were told to expect a 7-10 day ship. On August 16th, we called and were told the lights were not even at their location and they could not promise delivery that week. My wife canceled the order and ordered the same lights from Amazon, for $50 less. She got them in two days. It is now August 22nd and they still have not credited back our money despite repeated phone calls and emails. I was told they had one person working the showroom and no one working customer service. This has been the worst customer service I have ever endured. I ordered my lamps online last April and by the end of May I had heard and received nothing. Finally they called and said the lamps were back ordered and I waited till the end of June. Again nothing. I finally got the lamps July 19 th and both lamps blew the circuits in my house. Neither were wired correctly. I have jumped through the hoops they want me to in order to have them returned and now at the end of Oct and numerous phone calls later I still have two lamps that don't work and no satisfaction. Placed an order for two light fixtures with this company. Called a week later around 930am to find out a status update and was told they would need to check with the warehouse. Didn't receive a follow-up call until close to 6pm. Was told my order would be shipping shortly. Waited another week and called again on a Thursday morning. Was told they would need to check with the warehouse again and would call me back. I never received a followup call. The following Monday I called again and asked for a status update and informed them that I had not received a call back. The gentleman I spoke to this time was very aggressive, told me they always call back and record their calls. I put me on hold for a few minutes and then came back, not to address my order, but to tell me they had called me back on 6/23. This was the date of my first call. Wish I had read reviews before doing business with this awful company. My story is the same as an earlier reviewer (the one where the owner accuses the customer of lying!). I ordered three lights for a renovation on an out-of-state vacation home. My Amex card was billed right away and I assumed the lights had been shipped to my contractor. I didn't find out until a month later, when my contractor was ready to hang the lights, that they had never shipped! I called the store 5 times to find out where my lights were and was told the person I needed to speak to wasn't available and that there was no one else who could go onto a computer and check my order. (Really???) So I emailed them and eventually received an email back saying the lights were on back order but Bowery hadn't known they weren't in stock. I replied that I needed to cancel the order since I was out of time but haven't received an acknowledgment so now I have to call Amex to dispute the charge. I spoke to Tracey which was clueless about my purchase she was very passive & didn't care about the mistake her company made 2/26/16 my purchase was finally confirmed. I was very agitated called back spoke to Greg " supervisor" just very nonchalant & Rude very poor customer service skills and basically did nothing to help . If I didn't call my package will still be sitting I the store never got a call etc..,,To respond to the company the only person that's not being honest is the Company Everyone of your customers is not honest? really the real problem is you & your staff yes what your saying is the truth mixed with LIES.I the customer had to send the email transactions to Tracey which is your employee because she had No Clue about the status of the order I sent that to her on 2/26 so how can a well run businesses make such a incompetent error! This place is HORRIBLE. Ordered lights with Tracey on October 16,2016 and she informed me it would take 2 weeks. I stopped by on Sunday October 30,2016 and Tracey didn't even have the information about my order she had to take it from my receipt. She informed me it was shipping out the beginning of the week and she would call me when in. Today is Friday November 4,2016 and I had not heard from her. I called and left message in morning and no call back. called back a second time and got Tracey on the phone and again she needed me to give her information about my order and told me she would call me back in a few minutes. Again never called me back so I called her again and she mentioned some other company which was not even the company which t was ordered from and again said they would try to get it shipped out Monday from New Jersey. I told her that was what she keeps telling me and that I am coming tomorrow for a refund since they do not seem to be able to deliver. She hung up on my and after several attempts trying to get through it kept going to voicemail because she had phone off hook.
