The Power of Protein bowl with Spicy Chicken was a great value at $13.95; it tasted good and came with salad, japchae, pickled beets, a boiled egg, and a choice of rice and sauce. The Beef Bulgogi Kimbap was made on-site using fresh ingredients and was also delicious. The prices for both dishes were very reasonable, and the portion sizes were generous. I've gone back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. If Box'd were more expensive it would definitely be a 3. But it's a good value so if that's important to you, consider it a 4. The prices and portions are great. The meat here is very flavorful, and you don't have to choose between rice and salad. Your bowl has both. The chicken is good. The lamb is advertised as coming off a vertical roasting spit, but it's definitely NOT carved to order. It's chunky crisp around the edges like it's been reheated. And don't bother orderinh your plate with sauce on the side. They can't do it. That's right. They inexplicably do not have containers to give you your sauce separately. FWIW we ordered one with sauce, one without, and they couldn't get that right. We were given no sauce on either. read more

Stopped by for dinner, the ladies working were incredibly friendly! They served halal rice/chicken/lamb and Korean food! I tried the chicken and lamb, the rice was very flavorful and it came with a size of chicken masala, the chicken was very tender. We also got the bulgolgi rice bowl which was also very good. We got the kimbap that we enjoyed. Overall we had a very good meal and they service was great. Very solid halal food! I tried the chicken and lamb over rice with salad. I got mild as the spice level and to me it was still pretty hot. The sauce helped with the spice though. I thought the meat was cooked okay but could have been served a little fresher like the lamb for instance. However this place was really good and I would order from here again! read more

Boxd kitchen used to be my favorite go to spot, until they changed their formula. You used to get this thinly sliced delicious steak with sauces so good on top of it, a salad to die for and the perfect tortilla to go alongside it. That's no longer the case. They changed to this unappetizing steak, a salad that just doesn't hit the same and for some reason a side of tiki masala that isn't very good. I ordered the steak over rice & salad & was pleasantly surprised! The steak was tender & had great flavor & you can tell that it's actually steak meat. That white sauce is divine & they are really generous with it which I love. Spicy sauce has a great kick to it. I really enjoyed the salad. It's not the normal cheap lettuce that a lot of platter places offer - its a mix of fresh greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, & cabbage. They also put a different sweet sesame, peanutty(?) type dressing on it which was a nice surprise. Overall, it was good & fresh, but not as tasty as some other platters I've had, like DCG in Georgetown. They def take the win for freshness though & I like how the platters aren't over-salted. At that point, desperate to get something filling FAST, I ordered their lamb gyro over rice through their website and it was ready in five minutes. While the rice bowl was good, it wasn't the best gyro over rice I've ever had. I think they could work on evening out the proportions a little more. There's a ton of rice compared to the meat, and the lamb itself is in small slices, so I found myself rationing pieces of lamb as I worked through the bowl. Had chicken with rice lunch. Very nice portion and flavor. The white sauce that came with it was excellent. The red sauce was really spicy. In fact, I ordered online and specified mild. Mine came with the spicy red sauce drizzled over it, so it was NOT MILD. If you don't like spicy, make sure they omit this sauce. The peanut dressing on the greens was really good. I never write bad reviews but wow. I have never experienced such bad customer service. I asked for extra spicy lamb over rice. When I got there to pick it up I told the owner himself that it looked like there wasn't much white sauce but a lot of red so it I could get more white sauce, and he YELLS at me that IT IS NOT FREE AND TO GET MY FOOD AND GET OUT! I was shocked. I have never ever been treated that way or even yelled out in that manner by anyone working at a restaurant let alone the owner. This place has great food but the service makes me never want to come back and give money into this place. I don't understand how or why he thought he could treat or talk to a customer that way. Still in shock as I am typing this. While the food might be good, the owner is horrible and I will never come back here. He really needs to learn how to treat customers. read more
