Bbq countertop :)

I am extremely happy with the work Miguel completed on our outdoor BBQ countertops. The craftsmanship, attention to detail, and overall quality exceeded my expectations. The stone installation is flawless, perfectly aligned, and beautifully finished. Miguel was professional, reliable, and clearly very knowledgeable throughout the entire process. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for high-quality outdoor countertop or stone work. Excellent job from start to finish.

Kitchen Counters

Miguel is a great craftsman. From layout thru fabrication he worked very closely with us to replace our tile kitchen counter tops with quartz. We had a unique design which he was able to accommodate. The edges were beautifully done. He laid out the slabs delivered for us to review and change before work began on completing our layout. Learned a lot about how quartz is made because even though the slabs are from the same batch some can look very different from each other.

It's been so pleasant working with Miguel on our fireplace project - wonderful communication, very patient and very skilled, he took great care of our expensive stone - the edging is great! The way he straightened our 70 year old fireplace and made it look like a new build with a character is out of this world amazing. I have nothing but best to say about him and his crew. The house reno is stressful and exhausting until you meet an amazing professional like Miguel which is when you can finally enjoy the fact that the progress is being made. Thank you so much and happy holidays!

I like that his focus is on fabrication and not on material sales. There is such a huge selection of stone out there I don't know why anyone would want to limit their choices by going with an all in one shop.

If you want to hear about the overall experience and level of service, then read on... I started off my search by messaging multiple people/companies about countertop fabrication and installation. Some messaged me back, some gave very minimal responses, some places had high prices, some didn't have time for all of my questions. This is the first time I've done any countertop work and I did a lot of research on many different places and scoured the Hayward/San Leandro area and beyond to look at different countertops, designs, etc. Alvaro always responded to all my messages and emails. Every single time. Sometimes my messages would be weeks apart. When I finally made my decision to go with him, it was well over a month from when I first contacted him. He stuck with me all along the way and that left an impression on me, especially in this type of business. I had a few strange questions about different options and configurations of the counters and he was always responsive with open and honest opinions and information. Once I finally picked out my material, he met me at the shop where I purchased the counter to check out the material and he helped me make sure we were getting a good piece that wasn't too warped. All of this helped reassure me that he approved of my selection and that his trained eye could notice things that I wouldn't be able to notice on my own. He picked up the slab with his truck and took it off to fabricate and cut. He showed up a few days later for the install and it was done in no time. Oh, I forgot to mention that he stopped by and did a consultation and looked everything over and provided a ton of really helpful advice and analysis of the job, how he would suggest doing it, what he wouldn't suggest etc. He also brought some samples with him for me to check out and offered a great price on countertops that he already had on hand. The entire experience is everything that you would hope for in a countertop install. I will recommend him to anyone that need any countertop work. The pricing was some of the best I could find, the work was high quality (still looking great and holding up 7 months in) and Alvaro was a pleasure to work with. Thank you very much for everything!

Would absolutely recommend them and when we remodel our downstairs bathroom they will absolutely be the first company I call.

Avoid for Large Projects - Poor Communication, Costly Mistakes, and Delays…read more I would not hire R&A Stone and Tile unless you are a contractor yourself and can monitor the job 24/7. They may be fine for small tiling jobs, or a cheap kitchen flip that you don't care about the quality but anything beyond that is a mistake. Project Experience: -Disorganized & Poor Communication: Ruben, the contractor, constantly miscommunicated with his crew, leading to errors and wasted time. The crew speaks limited English, and Ruben failed to properly relay instructions. -Constant Rescheduling & Delays: The project was plagued with intentional delays because they were trying to juggle randoms crew members to the job site. They do not have a dedicated crew. To keep the job moving, I had to step in and install my stove hood myself. Quality of Work: -Minimal Supervision & Costly Mistakes: Ruben was only on-site for 30 minutes to an hour a day. The crew made frequent errors, wasted materials, and ultimately cost me an extra $5,000 in materials. Unprofessional Workmanship: -A crew member (Adrian) improperly used self-leveling, causing mortar to seep through walls and doors. -The same worker almost set my kitchen on fire due to incorrect wiring. -A junior crew member (Manuel) threw away new materials, further increasing costs. -My husband and I had to redo the wall texture they applied because it was done so poorly. -The countertop was improperly installed (by Victor), leading to a post-installation crack. The contractor promised to fix it but was a no-show, wasting an entire day of our time. -The dishwasher was incorrectly installed (Ricardo), requiring my husband to take a day off to reinstall it. Material Pricing & Usage: The contractor ordered materials on my behalf, but the pricing changed and was increased without transparency. The crew also took materials I paid for to use on other job sites. Also on two occasions, we had to order more tiles at 3x the cost because all the measurements were incorrect. Other Issues: -The crew trashed and clogged our bathroom toilet. They denied responsibility until I installed a camera--only then did the issue stop. -Never reimbursed or refunded for damages and extra expenses. Final Verdict: Ruben is a nice guy and means well, but his company is not equipped for big jobs (over $10K). If you have a small bathroom tile job, they might be fine, but anything beyond that--find a better contractor. We rushed to finish the project just to be done with them, and in hindsight, we should have hired someone else from the start. Do not make the same mistake we did. 2/5 - Would not recommend for major home renovations. Recommend for small jobs only.

FGY was very competitive with their prices and the quality of their cabinets and countertops were very good. We worked with Julia who was VERY professional, polite and patient as we changed our minds many, many times. They were fast to get us scheduled to install the cabinets, countertops, sink and backsplash and we were very impressed with the workmanship which only took them a little over a day to install. We highly recommend FGY to anyone looking for a bath or kitchen remodel.

Very disappointed with my experience at FGY Stone & Cabinet…read more I purchased Calacatta Aureo quartz, but when my fabricator picked up the slabs, FGY loaded the wrong material from their warehouse. We were specifically told that all the fabricator needed to do was provide the invoice number to pick up the order. At no point did anyone tell us that we were expected to verify the slab name, color, or material before leaving. To make matters worse, the pickup invoice my contractor signed actually listed a different quartz name than the one I had purchased. I don't understand how such a gap can exist in a company's order fulfillment process. The mistake wasn't discovered until fabrication had begun, resulting in additional fabrication costs, extra transportation, and project delays. FGY did replace the slabs but refused to reimburse any of the costs caused by their warehouse error. Instead, they claimed my contractor person should have caught the mistake. I did not tell my contractor the stone details I selected for him to verify too. And they have not run into this situation ever before. It's disappointing that after telling us only the invoice number was needed for pickup, they later shifted the responsibility to the customer and contractor. Mistakes happen, but standing behind them is what defines good customer service. If you buy stone from FGY, verify every slab and every detail before it leaves the warehouse, regardless of what you're told. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company.

We are the owners and designers of a nearly 4,000 square foot high-end home in Marin County for…read morewhich we recently completed new construction. We hired a general contractor and agreed to use all of their selected subcontractors except for a small subset we insisted on selecting ourselves, including Custom Stone. Custom Stone came highly recommended by multiple stone suppliers and other fabricators in the Bay Area. The scope of our stone installation was large and it was critically important that we select a fabricator who had experience with higher-end homes and highest-quality installations. Our scope included a master bathroom consisting of a double vanity, an 8' tall all-slab master shower and an undermounted roman master bathtub; a large kitchen with multiple stone surfaces including a 12' x 9' island; two guest bathrooms with marble slab vanities; a guest bathroom all-slab shower; an all-slab marble surround and hearth for a 42" fireplace; a custom designed and constructed semi-precious slab backlit bar; and an outdoor BBQ counter with Neolith. At the outset of the project, Custom Stone joined us during trips to various stone yards, advised us on the considerations of different materials, and helped us to obtain the most competitive pricing with their relationships. During the fabrication process, Custom Stone sent us multiple detailed design mock-ups and welcomed us to participate in the process. They recently invested in state-of-the-art fabrication equipment and technology that enables Contractors and Owners to see exactly what output they can expect, and to efficiently and flexibly provide input into the design and configuration decisions. For example, their new 3-D Laser measuring system and real-time digital vein-matching software allowed us to approve our slab layout before the fabrication started. Custom Stone's CNC waterjet cutting machine enabled exceptionally precise cuts on the material that we didn't find possible with other fabrication firms, allowing Custom Stone to produce the highest-quality end products for our project. Custom Stone's work is uncontestably one of the highlights of the new home and has significantly enhanced its aesthetic and value. We cannot speak highly enough of their work and the process of working with them. They worked and collaborated well with other trades/subcontractors, offered up creative solutions and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to quality. When we were selecting our stone subcontractor, we considered five (5) criteria in the following stack-ranked order: (1) precision in design and craftsmanship, and attention to detail; (2) knowledge of products/materials; (3) design skill in assembling pieces to create contiguous and less visible seams; (4) use of current technology and tools; and (5) reliable and on schedule. Custom Stone achieved the highest marks across all five criteria. We would certainly recommend and hire them again for whatever scope project we consider in the future.
