What a great bunch of people running this store! Always friendly, cheery and up for a chat. It's always more convenient for me to get petrol across the road from them at a 7/11 but I turn and go to these guys instead. read more

I would better rate Appin Road petrol station but I had a bad experience with a male staff…read more I buy drinks and every time I have gone in for a few months this attendant was pinching money from me - giving me short change. On one occasion he stole $20 - $30. I had enough I finally reported him to the Manager who was going through their book a ledger one afternoon. Friendly guy but devious.
It feels odd reviewing a petrol station but I had to do it given my experience is roughly the same…read moreevery time I come here or any other Shell Service Station for that matter. After I fill up I wander inside and the conversation generally goes like this; Me, "Just the petrol on pump two thanks" Attendant, "Would you like to buy some chocolates - they're 3 for $5" Me, "Just the petrol on pump two thanks" Attendant, "Would you like a drink - we have 2 600ml cokes for $5" Me, "Just the petrol on pump two thanks" Attendant, "Do you have flybuys" Me, "Just the petrol on pump two thanks" Attendant, "How about some shop a dockets" Me, "Just the petrol on pump two thanks" And then I finally get to pay for the fuel! I don't understand how Shell have not yet realised all they do is piss people off by trying to sell them everything when all they want to do is pay for their fuel. If they introduced a pay at the pump system I'd revise my rating to a 5!

"Purchase cheap fuel from others - pay extra on the supermarket shelves"…read more The catchcry of a small business, Forestville Ethanol's slogan is painted across its roof to catch the eye of every passing motorist. Located on busy Warringah Road, there are many a passing motorist. A convenient location for a petrol station, one would think. And one would be absolutely correct - if a Coles Express/Shell wasn't located right next door. Despite the shopper docket deals and slightly cheaper petrol available there, I always go to Forestville Ethanol when I'm in the area and in need of filling up. One, because I rarely have a fuel voucher to get the advertised price at Coles, and two, because I like it better. A small business located right next to the commercial giant Coles, and not only surviving but giving it attitude with the aforementioned slogan... I like it. I have never needed to wait at the pump for a slow old man in a Mercedes - even on cheap Tuesday! Further, the people working inside are always polite and friendly - but with a touch of familiarity, way more love than you'd get at a petrol chain. The prices are usually one cent more expensive than Coles... which often costs me a whopping extra 40 cents per liter. Shock horror! Even if you're concerned about that extra 40 cents though, I'd be inclined towards Forestville Ethanol.... as the sign cleverly points out, money saved there is spent elsewhere.

The entrance is awkward as just before the entrance is a lane that merges into another and this can be a busy road. The petrol (or gas for my American friends) is always cheaper here. It is an older service station and it has a little bit of everything. It is easier enough to check the tyre pressure as the hose it left out and you don't have to ask anyone for it. There are numerous goodies to buy as you walk into the shop area. It is like a mini supermarket ranging in items from baked beans to shaving cream. Unfortunately as I walked in the customer was having an argument with the older fellow behind the counter. Velocity cards are not honoured here as the customer found out. It becomes a little embarrassing as I was waiting to pay for the petrol and wasn't sure what to look at. There is only so much time one can look at sunglasses before someone thinks you are about to nick a pair. Cheap petrol but expect older attitudes at this place. Well.. we can't have everything I suppose.
