Desperation led me to Brac, but I wasn't seeking help for myself.
Like most people, I had no ability to relieve the anguish my 20-year-old son was enduring. Clinical depression and its cohorts, anxiety and insomnia, had a seemingly unbreakable grip on him. His suffering and torment had taken him to the depth of hopelessness and was completely foreign to me.
Watching him suffer so immensely was unbearable for his mother and me. The evil illness was destroying me, but I erroneously believed I was doing everything I could to help him. He was seeing a psychiatrist and was taking many pills.
Typical.
I was naive. Totally oblivious that his life was becoming more engulfed as each day passed.
Eventually, depression and insomnia grew dissatisfied and bored. The suffering was not meeting expectations, so psychosis was invited to participate in their master plan. With its arrival, additional destruction was waged against the already devastated young man's psyche. The torment was immeasurable.
I stood watching my son languish in a living hell for five years, hoping the combination of a psychiatrist and pills would stabilize him.
It hadn't. He was worse. My son's will to live had diminished to a point where he could no longer find strength to hide the depth of his misery. If something didn't change, I knew a suicide attempt was imminent.
I recognized the path of treatment I had chosen for my son was literally a dead-end. Unwilling to allow that chapter to be written with the pen in my hand, I began searching the entire world for a miracle.
After countless hours of research and investigation, I made two decisions in an effort to save my son's life.
First, my son was treated for depression using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.
I believe this treatment saved my son's life by annihilating the severe clinical depression he was suffering from. It was amazing. After just a few sessions, the chains of clinical depression were finally broken while anxiety and insomnia were greatly reduced. We had hope for the first time.
Second, I sought a therapist that was well versed in the concepts, teachings, exercises and techniques known as Cognitive Behavior Therapy as presented by David D. Burns MD. in his book, The Feeling Good Handbook.
Through Dr. Burns' website, I learned of the Intensive T.E.A.M. Therapy concept. I also learned that a few very dedicated, fortunate (and I speculate, 'brilliant') therapists work closely with Dr. Burns. They meet every week as a group to hone their skills and share their individual real-life experiences with each other in an effort to continue to make progress in their pursuit of restoring lives.
The T.E.A.M Therapy website led me, and ultimately my son, to a truly amazing and effective therapist. The therapist is Brac Selph.
Brac's compassion and willingness to help my son was a miracle. Brac even gave up personal days normally spent with his family to be available. He spent nearly 40 hours of therapy over a four-week-period with my son.
Very fortunately, both myself and my son's mother were able to interact with Brac and we attended several sessions. We were amazed at Brac's abilities and the level of expertise he exhibits.
In simple terms: Brac is to psychology what Jordan was to the NBA. Yes, he is that good. Astounding!
Brac's sessions are well balanced with humor and seriousness. Upon leaving, you realize Brac orchestrated a tremendous mental workout. He masterfully covers so much, you feel exhausted. However, it's a very satisfying exhaustion.
Having spent a small fortune on numerous marriage counselors, I learned even a bad therapist can shine for a session or two. However, a therapist that spends forty hours with a patient in just four weeks has to be phenomenal for the patient to declare that he wishes the sessions were not over upon returning home after living out of a suitcase for a month. The therapist must be incredible to have the patient walk away with such a strong grasp of the concepts taught that he can teach others in need. Brac helped my son understand and truly use the skills of CBT to change his thoughts and live his life with knowledge and without fear.
In summary, Brac has unmatched skills and is very wise. Brac has a relentless desire to help and listens more intently than any therapist I have ever met. Brac is the epitome of compassion and understanding and is far more than a therapist. I highly recommend this man.
My son recently began using a devise created by two NASA scientists called the Fisher-Wallace Device. After 3 days, the impossible was witnessed. Finally, it was as if he was fully awakened. Use of this device for 3 months has resulted in a complete miracle. Three weeks ago, he discontinued all medications and is doing fantastic.
I was skeptical and waited a year before ordering the device. I regret that mistake. I strongly recommend the FDA Approved Fisher Wallace Device. It has been a miracle! read more
