Seattle Farm is a privately owned 20-acre property, and I'm pretty sure it's the only farm within city limits. The place is beautifully maintained and feels like a hidden gem. No cows or chickens, but there are plenty of horses. We came during pumpkin season and paid $25, which covered both parking and admission. Big parking lot, easy access. At the barn you'll find several horses, and feeding them hay was a hit for both kids and adults. The darker horse was especially affectionate - kept rubbing its head against us, super sweet. You can also pay extra for horse/pony rides; they are all calm, well-trained, and come in various sizes. There's a food area with picnic tables where you can grab hotdogs and drinks. The pumpkin selection isn't as large as farms farther out, but still enough. It's great to see a place like this still operating in the city, and it's definitely worth supporting to help keep it going. I think they also host private events like birthday parties and weddings, and offer dedicated horseback-riding lessons - you'll need to call for details. Awesome family-friendly spot. The property is a treasure in and of itself. An oasis in the middle of a bustling metropolitan area and steps from 400 plus acres of groomed horse trails - no bikes! It is a fabulous place.

OLF was the right home for me and my horse Blu. He loved his big open stall and paddock and his turn out in lush pastures. The Farm has a really nice riding track, outdoor arena and round pen and is literally right across the street from Bridle trails state park--so easy to attend shows or clinics! While there is no covered arena for rainy winter days, I can say with all honesty that I never missed a day of planned riding due to rain. The park has tall trees which protect from the rain but still are wide open and bright. Dana and her crew take amazing care of all the horses. They have a huge herd that has 30+ acres to meander in and are fed on a track to make sure everyone has a place to eat and not be bothered. Having said that, horses will be horses and do hurt themselves from time to time. Dana keeps sufficient stall/paddocks available to use if a horse needs to come out of the herd for any reason. A young horse had torn the skin back on her knee requiring stitches. She broke her stitches open and Dana made extraordinary efforts to help with the care and treatment of the horse including installing a tether system in a stall. In the 3 barns I have been at, I have never seen an owner so personally involved and conscientious of a horses' well being. For the non-herd horses, turn out is all day for long hours not just a couple hours. Any reasonable request was met and accommodated. This is not a "show" barn although there are show horses there. Boarders are knowledgeable and friendly and happy to join on a trail ride. There are a number of quality trainers available and with 50+ horses on the farm, all the vets and farriers go there. Dana even built a new covered, flat area for vets and/or farriers to work out of the elements. No this is not the fanciest place but it was honest, warm, caring and welcoming and not only felt like, but was Home for Blu and I. While we are loving and adjusting to our home in the sun, we will forever miss and be fond of our friends and time at Overlake. 100% recommend Overlake as a great place to board.

He is so positive and he is always introducing me to other people at the barn (mostly young adults/kids that ride at this barn). I met with a ton of instructors in the Snoqualmie Valley and I am so glad I chose Mt. Si Stables. I look forward to leasing my own horse here soon and spending more time with the Mt. Si crew.

I can't say enough about Mt Si stables and Tom Estes in particular. I have ridden my own horses…read morefor years but never had any formal training. I have had a lot of questions and a lot to learn about showing and formal riding. Tom has been a wealth of knowledge and patience and his life long love of horses is evident every time he steps in the barn. I have worked with 3 trainers over the past few years and have found Toms quiet but firm method to be very very successful with the Arabian/Saddlebred horse I am riding. Additionally, my 5 year old son who has been around horses all his life begged for lessons. Tom agreed to give him a half lesson and has been wonderful with my very talkative boy who spends at least half the time in the saddle telling the horse how much he loves her. It takes a patient and kind person to manage that. He trotted for the first time last week very nicely, is sitting properly and has a great position in the saddle. Amazing. This stable is not the newest, fancy place you can find but the facilities are always clean, secure and the horses are happy. (Frankly, all of the horses I have been around at the stable have had great manners etc.) I would suggest that anyone looking for a family friendly barn with a great expert trainer check out Mt Si Stables!

The number one thing is the Flicka Family. It is a true community feeling at the barn and the age bracket among the riders are all from young beginners to riders up in their 70s. Recently more and more men have showed up for beginner lessons. The instructors teaches both western and English riding. I would highly recommend learning western at this barn. It is fairly easy to find instructors for English riding. Proper western riding is harder to find, unless you There are few lesson barns that are not show-barns that give such an in depth education in western riding. If you are looking for a hard core competition barn, this is not the place for you. If you on the other hand want a thorough education in how to take care of and keep your horse as safe as possible, maybe attend a couple of shows a year, just for fun, this is your place. The sign up and communication was quick and easy. My kids had their amazing week on this farm. In just a week, from no experiences, they learned how to care for the horses, perform some basic equestrian vaulting and gained some riding skills. The instructor and assistants were very friendly and very experienced with kids. My kids had an awesome time. This experience is definitely the highlight of the summer vacation. So glad we found this farm.
