I regularly participate in "sing-a-song" meetings for parents with small children on Tuesday mornings at 10am. Great fun for kids, my daughter loves it, friendly environment too. There is library section for small kids aswell. There is a car park by the library, but during the day always full.

This library is huge! It's on two floors, with the upstairs being the main lending library divided into kids, adult fiction and adult non-fiction. Downstairs on one side there's the reference library which is very good and run by people who are very helpful too, and then on the other side there's a section full of stuff on family history and they have micro feche readers and a full database of births deaths and marriages too. Great if like me you like that sort of thing. Oh they also have cd's and dvd's available to borrow too, although you do pay a small fee to borrow these it's a lot lower than you'd pay borrowing them from a video shop, and you get to borrow them for longer too.

There are all the other services usually available in a library, internet access, faxing, photocopying, large print books, DVDs, CDs. They have a nice childrens area in the library with a special childrens story time on Thursday afternoon where you can go with your tot no matter how small and join in with stories, songs and rhymes. There is a large car park at the rear of the library but beware to park within the marked bays as it has a parking warden who will give you a ticket!

The facilities include computers, photocopiers and I believe there is a guy who comes in and helps you trace records. They also offer computer lessons, which are free for OAPS. They have a small reference only section, which has quite a few study tables and chair so it's a nice little place to work and you can pop into town for lunch. They also operate a citizen's advice beuro from the premises.

We would sit in there practically for hours on end reading books, we practically begged our mum to go down there with us so she could let us join the library, she eventually agreed. We would usually get the maximum amount of books out that we were allowed and weirdly enough read them all before the week was up. They have a little table where we would occasionally sit and do our home work. You could loan books, magazines, baby toys and video tapes (probably DVD's now as well). I remember the staff always being really friendly.

As a family, we have visited the library many times, mainly at weekend. Especially good is the really fast free internet they have there, and also the wide selection of CDs and DVDs you can rent. All you have to do is join the library and recieve a card, all free. DVDs are around £1 each for a week, and they often have latest releases days after they come out. This is amazing value when you think of somewhere like Blockbusters! (£3 for a night min!). A well kept local secret, go and check it out! Staff are always very friendly and helpful. The library is spread into sections with downstairs being devoted to child and adult fiction and some reference books. Upstairs there are computers that can be booked out to use, microfilm machines and further more academic reference books. There are quiet areas to study or work and there is a peaceful ambience over the area. There is a very popular CD and DVD library which can be rented much like books and is quite an up to date selection. The staff are really nice and will order things in for you if they are not available and this is usually quite a speedy service. A really nice place to sit and work, read or a refuge from the craziness of the outside world!

Light and airy inside which adds to the browsing experience, nice big kids department and everythiing else you would expect from a local library is all present and correct. There are quite a few PCs available for public use should you need to google anything or print anything whilst you are there! (Although you do need to book ahead, even if only by half an hour and the staff are quite strict about this!) They also have a toddlers music group thing on once a month that can be a good way to fill a rainy morning!
