First time home buyer, female- Kingsville, ON Work performed: 1 Smoothing of ceilings (removing stucco) 2 Painting all trim and doors 3 Painting all walls and ceilings (800 sq ft home) Overall: * Clean Lines and Meticulous Attention to Detail * Cost savings * Flexible and Punctual * Communicative Pictures: Provided before of drywall, mudding, stucco and after showing smoothness, clean lines and beautiful finishing Detail Review: Timeliness: Shawn was always on time, punctual, and very clear with timing requirements. Flexibility: I had delays with other contracted work which as a result delayed painting, however Shawn was more than accommodating. Working evenings if required. I felt prioritized at all times. Shawn had begun preliminary painting work on my home, and worked with me to split it up over a couple week span to allow for other contractors to come in. Professionalism/Friendliness: Shawn is extremely professional, and very kind. I am an apprehensive person when it comes to hiring out, in fear of being misled, over charged, or potentially being placed in an uncomfortable situation. With Shawn, this apprehension quickly dwindled away. His quote was his final pricing, and any deviation in price was because I asked him to do additional tasks, and even then he worked with my budget. Cost: Low. Shawn's pricing was on the reasonable to low side compared to other painters in Windsor-Essex. Additionally, Shawn was very transparent and wanted to ensure I was a happy consumer. He was cautious out of kindness on pointing out flaws in drywalling and mudding and offered his advice when I gave him the green light to "tell it to me how it was" straight up. Additional Repairs: 1) We agreed on an hourly price for him to perform additional work, smoothing out the texture in my walls and doing additional patch work prior to priming and painting. Due to budgeting constraint, I asked him to work up to 10 hours at that hourly rate doing those fixes and if anything more was required, he agreed to walk me through and at that point I could determine what else I wanted done that he did not touch yet. AND Shawn tackled the biggest pain points/eye sores that are 100% noticeable and prioritized his time on those, so if we needed to exceed 10 hours it would be on minor, low traffic areas I could live without fixing. I really appreciated this component, because it would have been easy for him to fix the small items and leave larger items that he knew I would need to fix - in order to charge me more, but he did not. 2) I originally had stucco ceilings that looked horrific in the home. I was going to leave it due to budgeting constraints, and due to the type of material it was not a project I could take on myself, ESPECIALLY because this type of stucco often is a result of concealing major cracks and imperfections in ceilings.. and I was concerned about what door I would be opening if I began to scrape this off. Due to Shawn' more than reasonable quote to remove it and repair the ceiling damage, I was able to have smooth ceilings throughout. It made a huge difference. I am so thankful. Ethicalness: Extremely ethical. I am a first time home buyer, female, young, and any parent (including mine) worry about the type of workers I am bringing into my home and working with. My parents and myself will continue to recommend Shawn because he is a really good guy, he does fantastic work, and he gave me advise on what to prioritize with my budget and because of him I achieved my desired result and also stayed within budget. Overall: Please hire Shawn, if you are a parent and it is your child's first home, I promise you he will do fantastic work and pay attention to finer details. He is there to perform a task, and takes pride in how he leave customers feeling. I stayed within budget and the results are incredible. When the first coat of paint went on, my tears and frustration from other first time home nightmares, dwindled away. I would highly recommend Shawn for all of your painting needs. I had him paint my B&B which was in high need of a fresh facelift. His work is of the highest calibre. He redid all four of my bedrooms , hallway and down my oak staircase . I admit that the ladders and scaffolding on my stairs made me nervous regarding scratches in the wood or paint spillage on them. But he definitely had it covered...drop sheets over all the bannisters and steps protected as well. Cleaned up everyday.His cutting technique was outstanding!. Very helpful with color choices and had great ideas to suggest. Polite, professional and courteous. His goal is to make the customer happy! Did such a great job, that when we moved to Kingsville and bought our forever home I immediately contacted him to change and update the colors. Outstanding job! So very pleased with his work.
