Their burgers are always a hit, literally they never miss. And if you're a salad lover like me, the Salmon Salad is easily one of my favorites. Met here for lunch with my friend. This was my first time here, but she was ranting and raving about it so I agreed. Upon walking in there wasn't a hostess or anyone telling you where to sit, so we just sat at the bar. The gentleman at the bar greeted us and was really nice and attentive. He gave us waters as we looked over our menus and chatted a little. I decided on the brisket nachos, with everything on the side, and a 10pc lemon pepper wings. I also ordered the Champarita to drink. Because it was around lunchtime a lot of the traffic was from people who were on their lunch breaks, including many local police officers. It wasn't loud or too busy, I believe we went at the right time because we had a lot to talk about. Our food came out quick and it was okay. I guess I was overly excited because she had ranted and raved about it, but it as somewhat a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, the champarita was really good and I had two of them lol. The wings were good, but lacked seasoning. Just because they're lemon pepper doesn't mean the wing can't be seasoned BEFORE frying. It was disappointing because they looked like they were about to be soooo good. The queso for the nachos was really good. Put me in the mind of the queso from the Mexican restaurants. The brisket definitely had a Smokey taste but that was where the taste ended. I'm glad I got everything separated because I would've been mad if I had to eat the brisket. This local establishment is a must if you are in the College Park/Atlanta Airport area. It's truly a place where the locals go, and they have a menu that is just right. It's not overwhelming, and to be honest there were so many other items on the menu I wanted to try, which is why I will be coming back. Brake Pad has a full bar & they also have a good craft beer selection and of course they have Sweetwater 420 & Hopsecutioner IPA. The items I had from the menu were the Salsa & Queso w/ chips. The salsa was great and the queso was surprisingly good. I did not have it in my bingo card that they would have great queso but they proved me wrong. For my main meal item I had the Truffle Chicken Salad Sandwich. I HIGHLY recommend if you are looking for a flavorful yet healthy option. I was only able to eat half the sandwich and I was full, so if you don't mind having more delicious Brake Pad cuisine To-Go, then I highly recommend. A neighborhood staple since 2002! That says a lot considering what the city has been through over the past 24 years. The atmosphere - it's sort of like a dive bar but more like the local pub where you grab tacos, a cold brew or a burger. Don't skip the tater tots! Also, breakfast and brunch are good options. On this visit, we had the Patty Melt and two Shrimp Tacos. Kept it simple with water since it was lunchtime. But they have a full bar and drink specials. Indoor and outdoor seating is plentiful. Parking on the street is how it's done. A few designated spaces but around the corner is fine. Service is attentive and friendly. Refilling our cups, checking in and making sure we're good to go. I've been going here for almost a decade now and it remains to be the most important social spot in College Park. Food: The food is solid and overall value for quality is a 4.5 out of five stars. You'd be surprised to know that even though it is not a Mexican restaurant, they do a pretty good job with their quesadillas because the kitchen is percent Mexican guys! Along those same lines, the rest of the fare is well seasoned and they rarely miss. The Burgers are a sure bet also. If you feel like you need something healthy though, I recommend the Goat Cheese salad! Service: The service is good here with few exceptions. I'll give the service a 4.5 out of 5 stars also! Sometimes you catch a server who is more business but the deal is that they tend to always get your order right, and they check on you to see what you need! I tend to err on the side of tipping more here because it's the type of place where they'll take care of you on the drink side of things if you know what I mean. This is not a corporate pour establishment! Atmosphere: It's a neighborhood pub feel! So don't expect fancy because that's not what it is! But it's always a good spot to go meet locals and strike up a conversation! I give the atmosphere for what it aims to be a 4.5 out of 5 Parking: There is not much parking in front of the pub but don't worry, there is plenty of street parking behind it and you won't get ticketed as long as you don't park in front of someone's driveway or something! Billing: There is a fee for using credit cards so I often pay with cash. The fee is small though so it's not a huge deal either way! I just love this place. Was last there maybe about 15 (?) years ago when I met my brother and his then wife there for dinner. True, I don't live in Georgia, but I enjoy visiting some old haunts (that I used to patronize when I was in Atlanta for a 10-month IT project in 2007), and The Brake Pad was one of those places. So I got there early on Labor Day last September (I just flew in from SLC), and settled in with some appetizers. My brother and his date arrived and we all enjoyed some great pub chow there along the busy College Park Main Street while enjoying a few CSX trains passing through as well. The place was very busy and we had great (and patient) service from our waitress as it took awhile for my brother to pick up his girlfriend at the ATL airport. We all enjoyed our dinner, the many customers all enjoying themselves as well. I'll have to stop by here more often as the food selection and service is always outstanding...and the fact it is a former gas station is also very cool. With a couple popular restaurants, parking took some time as the front car park was full as well as the neighbourhood streets. Service was friendly and prompt. If we had been in a hurry, though, we likely would have had to leave with empty stomachs because it just took too long. We were there more than two hours and didn't even order appetizers, dessert, or drinks. I ordered the steak tacos, which had good flavor. My daughter ordered the mac and cheese with fries and had no complaints. My friend ordered a hummus wrap with tater tots. She specifically asked for no onions and the wrap came with onions, so she sent it back and got a new one without onions. The food was all pretty good. Aside from the mixup, everyone enjoyed their food. My family and I are in Atlanta every other year for the Peachtree Road Race. We always stay in College Park since it's convenient to the airport and MARTA train. We've passed Brake Pad many times, but we finally stopped in this summer. There was a little bit of a line, but we were seated pretty quickly. The room in the front can take advantage of the nice weather since it's surrounded by glass garage doors. It started raining while we were there, so thankfully they are also easy to close. The chicken egg rolls are not to be overlooked. The burger and patty melt were great. We will definitely be back next time we're in town. read more

Stopped by today for lunch. It's in a great location in the College Park area. I can say parking situation is kinda crap but if you luck up with front or side street park it's the best. The food options are good options. We tried the chicken buffalo egg rolls and they were definitely spicy but good. I tried the Cuban and it was great. Their take on the Cuban but a good one. I liked the sauce they served with it. The tots were fried to perfection. Also tried the burger and it was cooked perfectly to the temp asked. Drink was good as well. Table for 2 for Lunch Approaching the restaurant, I noticed limited parking, only a few spaces in front. Arriving during a busy lunchtime, no spots were available. I drove up Main Street and found a paid parking lot which used the Park Mobile app. The area wasn't huge, but a nearby person was guiding people to available spots.  After securing parking, I walked a block to the restaurant, where I met my friend. We opted for the covered outside seating and our friendly server quickly took our drink orders.  We reviewed the menu as we were talking. I chose the Cuban sandwich with Tater Tots, and my friend ordered the Grilled Shrimp Taco meal with tortilla chips. The food arrived promptly, and we dug right in. I thoroughly enjoyed my Cuban sandwich; the meat was tender and seasoned nicely. My friend enjoyed his Taco meal, but mentioned it would have been better and more filling with 3 tacos, instead of just the 2. We continued catching up, eating, and enjoying the weather on the covered patio. I noticed BrakePad had a couple of smaller indoor dining areas, in addition to the outside covered patio where we were eating which had roll up garage doors that let in the sun and occasional breeze.  The garage doors, I am guessing, are inline with the Brake Pad/Mechanic theme.  Overall, it was a very good experience and I would return if I am in the area. read more

While visiting Atlanta, a family member recommended we try a place called Brake Pad. I was not sure what to expect, but I can tell you this: It was a pretty solid recommendation. Brake Pad looks like an old style garage from the outside, with outdoor seating. There was a decent amount of seating on the inside, but we were getting food to go, so a nice server directed us to the Bar. The friendly bartender took our order: a Smokestack (burger with BBQ brisket), plus tots for me, and a Patty Melt with tots for the wife. However, they have a pretty extensive menu, with salads, tacos and wings. We waited about 15 minutes, received our food and left. Back at our place, we started eating, and I can say my food was very tasty. My burger was fresh, flavorful and the tots were cooked to crispy perfection. My wife, however, was not quite pleased with what she got. The Patty Melt had flavor, and was all right. She asked for tots, but French fries were put with her order instead. She didn't like the bland taste of the fries. I would recommend Brake Pad as a decent solid choice for variety and if you would like drinks with your order. (We don't drink, so I say that in observation). There are 2 things for me, which stopped it from being 5 star to me: 1. The Parking - Parking is very tight and we had to park on a residential street, further away. 2. The Fries - I had tried the fries for myself, and had to agree, they did not have any flavor. I would recommend going early if you want to find decent parking, and ordering the tots. read more

A cool, hidden gem in the College Park area. I came to ATL for work travel and needed to grab a bite after my flight - a coworker local to College Park met me here and it hit the spot! There's a sign when walking in that details whether you can seat yourself or if you'll need to wait. We were able to find a place inside next to the bar. Service was classic and it didn't take long for us to place an order after siting down; I went with their BP burger and it did not disappoint. Part of it may have been the fact that I was super hungry but the burger itself was great - juicy, medium-rare, and not too many toppings (I hate then the burger is overloaded and becomes a mess). Had a dinner meeting with a colleague and we decided to meet at Brake Pad. I love the small town feel of the restaurant with its rustic look and inside/outside seating. Upon being seated the waitress was at the table within moments. Image was able to provide some good insight on the menu and make some great suggestions. I decided on the Egg Rolls for an Appetizer, Sweet Tea to drink, and a Burger for my main meal. The Sweet Tea was a true down home experience. Each sip provides a down home feel with homemade flavor. An absolute thirst quenching pleasure. The Egg Rolls are super meaty with an abundance of flavor and provide a great eats experience. Perfectly fried, these bites are pleasing to the soul. LoL! But serious, they give you the crisp of a chip with the perfect crunch and abundance of meat! A Must Try! The Burger was another great eat. Perfectly crafted, super meaty, a great grade of meat, and a blend of seasonings that make each bite a hidden pleasure of enjoyment. Sustain: The food is good. Needs improvement: 1.) When you call to order, and they can't hear you clearly , they assume you're on Bluetooth and hang up, this has happened 3x to me. (most likely because it's loud in their environment with a bar in the background. 2.) No online order ahead option on their webpage. 3.) No delivery options via (restaurant, Uber Eats, Grubhub) etc. Assessment: If you're going to sit in and eat, this is a relatively good option & the service is par with the local restaurants.
