Talked to Adam on the phone and he told me about how ethical his shop was and that they would not charge me anything that I did not need. He convinced me to come in. Well when I got my estimate there were a few "recommended services" made by Scott that if I didn't get them, he could not guarantee that my brakes would not make noise. The two recommended services were replacing all the brake hardware and then. Rotor/hub matching service which is not the turning the rotor service. The hardware was and additional $40 per axle and the matching service was an additional $37.50 per axle. I can't tell you how disappointed I am to have come in here and then have them tell me that they could not guarantee that my brakes would work right if I didn't get the recommended services. To top it off, he had no idea that I needed these services and hardware, he just said that they "recommend" it. So their "ultra premium" service is $149 per axle and my estimate was for $452. Be careful when coming to this location. read more

I had a good experience with this Brakes Plus. I had some brake grinding for about week or two and called them around 10 AM yesterday morning to see if I needed to make an appointment. Adam told me I had the option to make an appointment, but it was fine if I just brought my car in. I got my car there at about 2 PM and was called within the hour to tell me the work that needed to be done on both the rear brakes and the cost for the repair. After agreeing to the work, Sean told me it would be ready that afternoon. They stuck to their word and had my car ready for pickup by 5:15 and was not pressured to have any other work performed. I was very pleased with the service I received, and the price for the work was reasonable. read more

Understand that companies like this will wring every last penny you have out for themselves. Magically, my wheel key vanished, so I was charged $50 just to deal with that. They did the right thing. I called a couple of weeks in advance to get a quote for labor cost of pads and rotors on front and back of my BMW. I ordered all the parts myself because I typically do this type of work myself but my schedule was full and didn't have time. When I took it in I was given a price that was more than double what I was told over the phone previously. After speaking with the GM, the original price was honored. Shawn was amazing! I went to a Firestone on Friday and they were stereotypical about telling you a million things they could do on your car and charge you for. I got a nail out of my tire and an oil change and ended up walking out spending $315. I opted out of them doing my brakes. I called Brakes Plus on Saturday around 2 (they close at 5). They were able to get me in and get the work done before the day was over. They also gave me options and even though I had the previous technicians notes, they did another inspection. The cost of brakes at Firestone would have been $201, at Brakes plus I spent $150. Despite being busy and having to work in the heat all day, the customer service was beyond belief. They did not try to over sell me and were honest about what I needed and when. I honestly would rather pay them more than some place that seems to only care about money, but it was less and amazing customer service. A win-win situation and would HIGHLY recommend to anyone! read more

Don't like leaving a place with the feeling I was taken but that was my feeling after picking up my truck yesterday. I feel the salesman misrepresented the cost of the work completed. That then leads me to wonder if all the work was really necessary. AUTO NATION in Frisco gave a estimate of $1500 for BLEND DOOR replacement on a 2011 Explorer. This was a $100-$150 part with labor at $135 per hour. I called BRAKES PLUS and they said they would look at it for no charge. Labor at BRAKES PLUS is $75 per hour. That already made a huge difference. My bill, $161 $37 for the part and 1.5 hrs labor. Well, it was time to get new brake pads and I knew this day would come. I went to Brakes Plus because it was close and convenient for me. I had to wait for a while, but they were very busy that day and short handed, but that's just the way life goes. I told them I may have to come back the following day and they let me use their loner car for the afternoon (and, until I picked up my car the next day). They replaced all my brake pads and rotors, but they also suggested replacing my shocks and struts AND pointed out that my radiator was slowly leaking around the seals. They didn't go for the hard sell with the shocks, struts and radiator, but after physically showing me what's going on, I agreed that it would be best to get it all taken care of. It cost some money, but I did not feel like I was being ripped off. My vehicle runs great, stops a lot better that it use to and it has a very tight ride with the new shocks and struts! Finally found a honest auto repair shop!!! I have now been to this shop a few times and they have been honest and only fixed what was needed! As an example of there honesty, I took my vehicle first to honda for an oil change and the next thing I knew they were telling me I needed brakes. Well I decided to take it over to Brakes Plus On ElDorado where I was told that my brakes still had lots of life left on them!! I live in McKinney TX, not San Francisco. I logged in through Google, so Yelp apparently thinks I live at Google's headquarters. I used Brakes Plus a couple of years ago when I first bought my current (used) car. They did great work. Their prices were high, but I wasn't too concerned as they weren't that far off the norm. My latest repair is a completely different story: My car needed front hubs and wheel bearings. I gave the OK before I researched prices on the internet. They charged me $418.00 for two aftermarket front hubs (parts only, no labor). Aftermarket means they're not genuine Ford, and as such should be much less expensive than the genuine article. Then I found out that the MSRP for two genuine Ford hubs is only $201.36. I found aftermarket hubs on the internet for as low as $130 for two. The rest of the bill was equally outrageous. They charged me $23 per quart of their brand (no-name) gear oil. Top quality Mobil-1 gear oil is only $10 per quart at Auto-Zone. The entire bill was inflated way beyond reason, to more than $1,000 for not a lot of work. They do good work, but their prices are near organized-crime extortion levels. It would have spent less to get my car fixed at a Ford dealership. I'm done with these people. Use them at your own peril. read more

This is the WORST PLACE EVER!! Don't go here unless you want bad service and your money stolen!!@!@. This place sucks! I took may daughter's car there because it was overheating. The supposedly fixed the problem, only to have the same thing happen a few days later. We took it back and paid out more money to fix something else, but about a week later it overheated again and this time wouldn't run. I took it someplace else and they said the constant overheating melted the head gasket and master cylinder. I had to paid another mechanic over $2,000 to fix a problem that Brakes Plus caused. If they had fixed the overheating problem properly it wouldn't have caused the other problems. I told Adam at Brakes Plus that I wanted the money that I paid the other mechanic back and he was nasty and said he wasn't going to pay. I ended up taking them to small claims court, but I only got a few hundred dollars. Furthermore, I took the car back another time because a part that had a warranty on and was fixed there went bad. Adam, the manager refused to honor the warranty. I recommend to everyone, please save your money and go to a reputable auto shop so you won't have to go through the ordeal that I went through. read more

This is the only place I will ever go again! Great customer service and hard to beat prices. My breaks stopped working going down eldorado and in an attempt not to hit anyone I pulled over in a parking lot by them and ran over a curb. They noticed and walked over to ask if they could take a look at the car. They figured out the problem in no time and had my breaks working wonderfully. They helped me understand exactly what was wrong with my car (I don't know anything about cars) and were very patient in explaining it to me. Best people I've met in awhile. First off the employees were all very nice, shop is clean and a nice location. However the service received wasn't very good. Took my truck in for an alignment and when it was completed the top of the wheels were sticking out(camber issue - LF brake plus set to 1.6degree, should be -.3 to .5, the RF brake plus set to 1.1 and should have been -.5 to .3), Toe set by brake plus to -.44 (should be 0 - .20). So i take it to Firestone and they tell me it was off really bad. Cost me another $200 to correct. IMO if they can fix something that is attached to a computer and telling you what you need to do and still can't get it right how can they troubleshoot a issue. Find another shop read more

Wish I could give zero stars honestly. Their service is TERRIBLE! The way they talk to the customers is unbelievable! Took my car in to get a diagnostic about a month ago and was changed close to $1000. Only two days later, my brakes started squealing. When I brought it back up to them, they're trying to charge me close to $600 to give services that should have been found, looked at, and fixed when the car was in for the diagnostic. After my experience with Brakes Plus, I will never go back there again, EVER!. They do not know the meaning of customer service, They are Rude, Disrespectful, have no customer service skills at all. I stood at the store waiting 15 minutes for them to open at 8:00. They opened the door at 8 and said "We don't know when we will be able to get to you guys we have to do the closing." Wait! aren't you suppose to count down the registers at close of business! Had to wait about 25 minutes before they were done counting down the registers and giving Corporate their numbers. One guy caught an attitude with me because I refused to allow them to do additional service that they recommended for my car. WOW! Oh! and when I called the Regional Manager, he says,"I don't know what I could do" Now I realize why his employees act the way they do. They were extremely helpful. The manager, Tony, was incredibly accommodating to us. Our car had been damaged while being serviced from a different tire company early that morning, and was almost undriveable. Tony worked with us and offered to have the car repaired at a reduced rate, simply as a way to help us out. He was able to get the car fixed the same day. He really went out of his way to work out a solution for us, when he absolutely didn't have to do that. He didn't try to charge us for anything that we didn't need and didn't try to upsell us on anything additional. I will definitely be bringing my other vehicles to them in the future as needed because of the level of transparency, professionalism, and efficiency he extended to us. Sent my teen daughter in this Brakes Plus because in the past I had good experiences with them. She went in to have her starter checked $15 by the time she called me they had given her an estimate of over $1000. Saying the battery & starter were bad & they may have to replace the alternator as well. What they didn't know was I had already had the battery tested & it was fine. I told her to ask them to put her battery back in & leave. She did & one of the men there told her that her car was going to leave her stranded somewhere & he would not take advantage of her just because she was young & a girl. That same day she took her car to another mechanic to have it checked. The battery starter & alternator were fine! She had a loose cable on the fuse box. I would not recommend this place! read more

I had my brake pads changed about 5 months ago from this location in Frisco, TX. And on August 12th, 2014, I almost got into an accident because my brakes were not working. Thank God I made it safe to the office. A colleague of mine checked my car and he said that my brake fluid is EMPTY. He said it is very unusual for it to be that empty and was surprised that I made it to office without any scratches. We bought a bottle of brake fluid and poured it in and soon as I step on my brakes, the fluid kept on draining. So I had my car towed to my dealership (thank God I brought it there instead!). The dealership found a SNAP-ON WRENCH still attached to my bleeder valve!!! The wrench is a professional grade wrench that mostly used by mechanics doing brakes. And nobody else serviced my car after I had my brake pads changed. I went to the shop to complain and OF COURSE, the manager/owner - Adam, denied it and insinuating that someone else would do that to my car! He said it is impossible for that wrench to have stayed on for 5 months. I checked my friends who are mechanics and those who knew about car maintenance and they said IT IS POSSIBLE! This NEGLIGENCE on their part could have cost me and my family's life! Thank God,He protected us all this time. I have a newborn (2 months old), and 2 younger kids always with me in that car! The owner did not even apologize for this mistake that made me feel even worse! He handled my complaint in an arrogant way. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AT ALL! It is not about the money I paid to have it fixed again, that's just $200.. I can earn that anytime. I was about my family's safety and the shop's ownership of the mistake they have committed! I WILL NEVER EVER USE BRAKES PLUS AGAIN AND SO WILL MY FRIENDS AND RELATIVES!!! This is just beyond belief that the company that specializes in brakes almost caused our lives! :( read more
