I recently took the line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) subway from Victoria Park to Spadina. I was heading to a Blue Jays game at Rogers Centre for a work event. It was cheaper to simply take public transportation down to the venue than shelling out for parking nearby. Spadina station holds a special place in my heart. I grew up taking the TTC with my mom to hit Chinatown at Spadina and Dundas Street West. Back then, it was the Spadina 77 bus that ran along Spadina Avenue to and from this subway station. When you leave any line 2 train, you can still see a bus image next to the station name on the platform. I also managed to see several pay phones on the subway platform, which threw me back. In my head, I had Spadina Bus, a song by The Shuffle Demons, playing on repeat as I was at this station. A classic! I may need to find the video version to reminisce about the original 77 bus. Spadina is a subway hub. I went up a set of stairs from line 2 to catch the 510 Spadina streetcar. Back in November 2024, this streetcar wasn't running. Instead, there were 510 buses. Well, I got to ride the streetcar at long last. It was waiting for me at the station. I had no problem finding a seat and taking it down to Bremner Boulevard. I then walked over to Rogers Centre. It was convenient and easy. After the game, it was weird seeing three 510 streetcars heading northbound i a cluster as I walked towards Spadina Avenue. When I got to the streetcar stop, I waited a good fifteen minutes before the next streetcar came. Some things never change. I don't get TTC schedules. Never did. Never will. This subway station is wheelchair-accessible. I saw an elevator as I was heading to the streetcar platform. This station also connects you to line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina). I remember transferring from line 2 to line 1 as an undergraduate student. I took the subway northbound to Yorkdale to shop at the mall and hang out there. Good times. It was cool being back at this station. Some things have changed, but there are remnants from my past that prompt fond memories. (170)

Spadina while technically being an interchange station between the 1 and 2 lines is a LOOONG walk…read moreto get from one line to another. Unless you want the exercise it doesn't really make sense time-wise to change lines at Spadina versus changing stations at St. George which is one platform on top of another with only one set of steps to really separate you. Spadina's Bloor platform has Walmer Road as the west exit while the east exit up one level takes you to the street car platform which is indoors (no transfer required) for the 510 Spadina line that goes southbound to Harbourfront. Up and down Spadina ave the dedicated street car platform splits the streets north and south bound directions. There are fare purchase systems for TTC/Presto on these street platforms but it's not like they're gated or anything like that. I've seen so many people get on without necessarily tapping or paying unless they had a transfer already... hard to say and none of my business. Still, it seems that this is one of those locations if you're looking to avoid paying it would be as simple as just getting on the back doors. The new longer street cars build by Bombardier run on this line.

The newest station on line 1 north of the Wilson Yards and currently the most northern station on…read morethe Spadina side of line 1 also the terminus station on the west side as well. The previous terminus (Wilson) has the multiple parking lots and much more parking since it was the previous end of the line just on the other side of the 401 at the much busy Yorkdale complex. Downsview station located at the south east corner of Allen and Sheppard is where Sheppard makes that dramatic detour around the Downsview airport runway near Chesswood. This station does have a north side entrance as well as a kiss and ride pickup area with actual parking spots instead of a rotary type hub like Finch or Kipling. Access to the parking and drop off area is accessible at the access road just east of Allen on the south side of Sheppard and access to just the parking lot is also available on the east side of Allen south of Sheppard. The parking lot at Downsview seems rather small but with room to grow if needed. Now that Downsview will no longer be the terminus station for this leg of line 1 after the extension to Vaughan is complete it's yet to be determined if more parking is even required. The station is has a large surface area for buses on both sides of the bus depot. The bus depot services quite a few bus routes from here: 84 Sheppard West begins west of Sheppard station (at Yonge) along Sheppard and crosses at Allen while remains on Sheppard to Weston road where it loops back around at Bradstock and Rivalda before heading back east. 101 Downsview Park is a very short route that simply goes around the Sheppard hump turns left on John Drury to Carl Hall road into the park. 104 Faywood runs between Downsview and Wilson stations. It takes a route from Wilson from Ansford to Faywood which turns into Wilmington north of Sheppard to Finch Ave, goes west to Dufferin and then turns to Kennard and down to Wilson Heights and then back to Sheppard to Downview station. 105 Dufferin North runs into Vaughan and requires additional fare when north of Steeles avenue. This route runs north on Dufferin and loops at Confederation parkway and then east on Rutherford road before turning back south again. 106 York University runs west along the Sheppard hump and then north on Sentinel road to York University main campus in a clockwise direction meeting The Pond road at six o'clock and Ian Macdonald before turning back to Sentinel going south. 107 Keele North has many variants but for the most part the 107C is the main route which makes its way west along the Sheppard hump through the industrial area near Tuscan Gate toe Keele and then north as far as Teston road in Vaughan. Same as the 105 additional fare is required north of Steeles avenue. 108 Downsview main run 108B runs west on the Sheppard hump to Arleta avenue and up Driftwood north of Finch to Strong Court and then briefly along Jane street before turning right back onto Driftwood again before heading south bound. 117 Alness runs up Allen/Dufferin to a dedicated bus roadway that runs parallel and north of Finch Ave to Alness up to Steeles and bakc down Dufferin. This route around the roadway and Alness runs clockwise before 3pm and counter clockwise after 3pm. As for the train platform it's long and wide with an arched roof. The trains on line 1 of course are wider than the Bloor/Danforth line 2 but the design of this station lends to more space and feels much more open than a majority of the older stations in the TTC system.

This is probably the nicest subway station in Toronto. At least it will be for a couple years until…read morethey add the York U extension. The ceilings are high, the decor is modern, and there is tons of space. Even when the station is packed you still feel like you have room to breathe. The convenience store here is an actual store that you can walk into, unlike the counter style stores at most stations.

Conveniently located, my only beef with Cooksville is it's strangely laid out…read more There's at least two kiss & ride locations, which means that when you're getting picked up you sort of have a 50/50 chance of actually being in the same place as your ride. I've only ever disembarked here, of course. As I said, it's well located in the 'Saug, so you can drive from here to square one or up to Courtney Park.

This is one of the more central stations, so there's a plethora of people that are on the platform. The GO train itself is a pleasant ride in. Decent seating, clean and not that long of a ride from Cooksville into Union (if there are no delays - don't get me started..) My only real beef with this line (and the reason for a missing star) is the crappy, limited schedule. The last train from Union is just after 7pm! If I work late, I'm then forced to take the bus or an Uber home. The lakeshore line runs until 1:30am - c'mon GO, give us more flexibility!! In ending, I have to say that my favourite part of the whole GO train experience is watching the few nuts running at full speed off the train and into their cars to beat the others, haha. CHOO CHOO!!

Don Mills Subway Station is my default station whenever I go downtown for my Yelp adventure…read more I know it is a hassle to change train to Yonge Subway line at Yonge and Sheppard. But free parking from 9:30 AM is a no brainer for me if I need to go downtown for lunch... Finch Station though more convenient but free parking is not until after 3 pm! Of course, Don Mills has covered parking, this is good for both summer and winter as my car would never be boiling hot or covered in a blanket of snow. Being right next to Fairview Mall also really convenient if you want to do some shopping or just get a coffee or a quick bite!

Located right in downtown Brampton, and it's great that they still have three fairly large (free)…read moreparking lots. The station helps add to the character of the immediate surrounding area of heritage of the unique (albeit small) city centre. It has GO train service, and recently they've added all-day, 2-way service on weekdays during business hours which is great. The GO bus terminal is right beside with several routes offered. The train station serves as a VIA rail station and you can get to places like Montreal from this station. Tip: Closer to the bus station is The Village Bake Shop, which is a great place to get coffee, baked goods and such. You'd need to set aside a few extra minutes to go on a run there if you were getting on the train however. One frustrating thing, and for all GO stations for that matter, are the ridiculously slow ticket machines. There's a stress that cannot be compared to anything else when you hear the train rolling in and the machine takes half a minute just to bring up 'Union' station on the search. Practically a couple minutes just to get your ticket.

I recommend using your Presto card instead of the ticket machines if you are able, because the machines are super clunky. That's everybody though, not just this station. There's lots of free surface parking if you need it, but Brampton transit has many buses that go to Brampton Bus Terminal/Brampton GO so you can ditch the car entirely if you want! The area has a lot of good shops around it, but there are a few dodgy bits, so keep aware of your surroundings.

The train service is generally reliable, and the connection to local MiWay buses makes it convenient for getting around the city. The station is wheelchair accessible and has a ticket booth, seats, and basic amenities, and it's easy to navigate. Parking is available but fills up fast during rush hours. One of the nicest things about this station is its location--you can step outside and be just minutes from Port Credit's shops, restaurants, and lakeside parks.

I like this bus route. I take it daily from Ossington station northbound in the winter months and…read moreit has rarely failed me. There is usually a bus every 5 mins and there have only been a few times I had to wait maybe 10. Also, the bus drivers on this route seem to always stop and wait for me when they see me hauling ass, sprinting for the bus from half a block down the road. It's pretty quick and doesn't stop as much as the Dufferin bus, which is often rammed too full of passengers.

I have a love/hate relationship with TTC 63 Ossington Bus…read more When 63 works - it works great: frequent buses, 24 hour service, minimal traffic delays - very efficient and easy. When 63 fails - it fails miserably: no buses for 30 minutes (on a frequent service line), buses bunching up 3+ at a time (resulting in large gaps in service), buses too full to get on, etc. For someone who rides the 63 daily, it works more than it doesn't - however it has a tendency of not working at the worst possible moments (Murphy's Law). Drivers usually are nice and manage the riders well.

It's a major TTC hub that connects subway, GO Transit, and multiple bus routes. Not much to do here, and definitely not a place to hang out, but it works for what it is. There's a small convenience kiosk (outside the fare zone), so you can grab a snack, drink, or a magazine if needed. I hadn't been here in years, and when I approached a TTC employee to buy a day pass, she came off a little sharp at first. But once I explained I was unfamiliar with the updated system, she softened and was super helpful in getting me on my way. That made a difference. So, do I recommend it? Only in the sense that if it's part of your route, it'll get the job done. It's not fancy, but it's functional...and helpful people can make even a gritty station feel okay.
