Really popular vegan donut chain in Germany that I had high expectations for. Unfortunately I thought the donuts were too sweet and greasy. Maybe it was just the one I had. Anyways it's a trendy spot and a cool concept, but was slightly disappointed. They had free water which was nice though and lots of seating.

Unbelievable vegan donuts! This is said both in the "these taste unbelievable" and the "it is unbelievable these are vegan" ways. They have a huge selection of flavors, and it can be quite hard to make the right decision. With a cup of coffee, this is the perfect breakfast (although they open a lot later than donut shops in the US might). I had a specialty donut that was bienenstich, typically a honey-flavored cake, which was a unique treat for a vegan shop (I assume they used a vegan honey). Because I could not try just one, I also did an apple pie one, which was actually my favorite. The apple filling was perfection. My latte, made with oat milk but not the upcharge for it, was the perfect side car. AND this place is adorable inside. What else can you want?

Said to be Europe's first fully Vegan Donut Shop it was 2015 when Jessica Jeworutzki and Bram van Montfort opened Brammibal's, a concept that has grown to six locations without sacrificing principles of quality sourcing, fair pay, sustainability and seasonality. Part of trendy Potsdamer Platz since store number three in 2018, friendly and English-fluent service immediately making both Vegans and Omnivores feel welcome, it is by way of a constantly-evolving menu that Brammibal's seeks to lure guests back while changing "the perception of plant based Food, one Donut at a time." Handmade daily with no preservatives, glowing neon reading "don't eat animals" the company's only bit of on-site preaching, July's menu features fourteen Donuts plus Cinnamon Rolls, a monthly charity the benefactor of Tiramisu that looked good, but less compelling than "Strawberry Pretzel" juxtaposing a soft base with naturally flavored Glaze, dehydrated Fruit and salted twists coated in White Chocolate. Eschewing Pfannkuchen offered elsewhere, though filled "Berliners" constitute a good portion of Brammibal's choices, Peach Cobbler seems an oddly American choice executed flawlessly beneath Streusel one can't believe is made without Butter while Salted Caramel Hazelnut retains its hole and achieves wonderful results in terms of both taste and texture. Employing a full-time Pastry Chef for product development, the volume of a brand open up to twelve-hours daily requiring diligence to maintain consistency, those familiar with German Cuisine will realize Bienenstich is nothing to miss, €3,50 a certified bargain for locally-milled Flour, candied Almonds and lots of Vanilla Custard that somehow tastes as good as from a French Patisseries despite the lack of Milk or Cream.

/)/) ( . .) ( づ hands down the best donut shop in Berlin! You can't even taste that these donuts are vegan!!! I used to be so obsessed with them that I came here at least twice a week. They always change their flavors but honestly most of them all pretty damn good! Super light dough, not oily at all. A must try!

Really nice vegan donuts with a fluffy interior! It was fairly crowded inside with families and the had lots of fun decorations and plants. The Bienenstich donut had crispy almond slices with a vanilla custard filling- very tasty but nothing to write home about.

TL;DR - The doughnuts may be vegan but you'd never realise it. This was actually our first stop on this trip to Berlin and we'd heard so much about Brammibal's we had to give it a go. It's a decent sized place with plenty of space inside and out. We each decided to try a donut and an oat milk latte. It's worth adding, mark and I aren't vegan (far from it!) so our comparison for these doughnuts was the regular non-vegan versions. And to be honest, we couldn't tell the difference! The doughnuts are delicious just like any other. Similarly the oat milk latte was delicious and I doubt anyone would bat an eye lid if you told them it was just made with regular milk. So why only 3 stars? Well, at the time we came - which was mid afternoon - the supplies were a bit depleted and they'd run out of quite a few flavours. Also, whilst it's really impressive that these doughnuts taste like the real thing... equally they just tasted like regular doughnuts. Nothing out of this world amazing - just a regular bona fide doughnut.

I had no idea what Bienenstich was, but it caught my eye. I asked the woman working for suggestions, and that was the first donut she mentioned. After that, there was no more hesitation, just enjoyment. From Brammibal's website: "You don't know Bienenstich yet? Well, ask any German around you and we promise they will start raving about it. This donut is filled with our homemade vanilla custard made with organic vanilla, then dunked in a vanilla glaze, and topped with roasted slivered almonds." The next time I visited Brammibal's Donuts I ordered the Candied Almond Donut that's made with a caramel almond cream, dipped in an almond glaze, and decorated with chopped roasted almonds. - insert drooling face. Yes, this donut was indeed just as good as it sounds! The donut was cooked to perfection and had an ooey gooey filled center! I would have enjoyed a few more almonds on top, but that is the only minor thing I would have changed. Passing by, you're greeted by a line of locals waiting to order fresh bread and pastries and the scent of sugar and yeast fills the street. The staff were able to communicate efficiently with me as an English speaker, and were kind as they packed my large order while giving recommendations to fit my preferences. I ordered a cherry donut, a classic eclair, cream bun, quiche with ham, and a chocolate rum ball all for a mere nine euros. As you can tell, I had a major sweet tooth, but they had a phenomenal selection of savory options such as croissants, dinner rolls, brioche, baguettes and loaves packed onto the shelves. Each of my treats were extraordinarily delicious! The fluffy donut and tart, homemade jam were surreal...the chocolate ball was creamy and milk chocolatey followed by a warm, rum aftertaste and I enjoyed the bite of the chocolate sprinkles! The highlight for me was certainly the large cream bun! Sandwiches between two delicate pate choux "buns" was a mountain of fresh whipped cream that was soft and only slightly sweet. I am dreaming about it now! The bakery has a cozy dining area and a patio for you to enjoy your purchase. Cannot wait to come back here again. Please come support this place!
