There were 8 of us on a Saturday night and we had a great time. The table was ready upon our arrival and the staff could not have been nicer. The place was packed but it never got super loud due to the high ceiling. The food was good with the star being the pea pod salad and polenta appetizers. Came here to try something new and different for my mother on Mother's Day. I had called several days prior to Mother's Day to reserve seating for 6. Seating we had was very good and semi specious. My mother liked her healthy salad meal. My father ordered fish with no butter or seasonings on it. My aunt and I ordered Eggs Benedict. Hubby ordered scrambled eggs with home fries and his mother ordered fries with burger sandwich. My aunt and my dish was not great. The eggs were too small and over cooked. Too much lettuce and bread mostly. The hollandaise sauce was over loaded. My hubby's dish had too much overcooked home fries. He ended up eating only the scrambled eggs and his mother's French fries. His mother didn't really like anything in her dish. She just ended up eating just a little bit of her plate. Only my parents ate their whole dish. They told me they liked it. The only great place in this restaurant was the restrooms. They were very spacious and clean. Great clean scent was the best part. Service was good. Not as attentive as he should have been but not bad. Overall, I would not come back to this place again. For the food quality and amount on plate, prices per plate could have been lower. Everything was tasty and delivered incredibly quickly, despite it being a packed house. The downside is how close you are to other tables- you have to scoot over to let other people when they get up. So many great things about this spot! There's plenty of parking in the garage available across the street. There's indoor seating which can get packed from the looks of it, but good news is there's outdoor seating with warmers to keep you nice and comfortable outside in the cool weather. It is pricey but the quality of the dishes makes every bite worth it. The ambiance gives the venue a nice touch and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend putting in a reservation if you can too since it does seem to be a really popular spot. I'm rating this one star because of the service. We arrived early for our 6:45 reservation on Mother's Day. We were seated pretty quickly and put in our orders within 10 minutes (whole chicken, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprout and a kids' chicken and fries) and had been looking forward to this meal all day. We have a small child as part of our party. 45 minutes in, we still have no food. I'm sorry but that is unacceptable. Not even the kids meal was ready after 45 minutes. We flag down the waitress and she says about 5 more minutes. It's now 7:45 and still no dinner. At this point who's even still hungry? Mind you, the restaurant is not yet at capacity on the inside. What is the point of making a reservation if you come in and cannot get food for another 45 minutes? I'm hugely disappointed and feel like this was a waste of our time on a special day. The Arsenal Yards area in Watertown has a decent amount of shopping and eating but I never paid much attention to the restaurants until I stumbled on Branch Line on Open Table. They specialize in rotisserie chicken and, as someone who grew up loving Boston Market, rotisserie chicken holds a special place in my heart. The space inside is nice and airy, with high ceilings and lots of natural light. Great atmosphere for taking your parents or if you want to impress a first date. We started off with the pear and burrata appetizer - I'm not the biggest fan of arugula as a salad base but the pear and burrata paired wonderfully together and I'll never say no to pistachios as a salad component. I added their famous rotisserie chicken to my sugar snap pea salad. We saw almost every table ordering the snap pea salad and for good reason, super crunchy, light, and refreshing, with an amazing peanut dressing that tasted great the next day over rice. The chicken was mighty tender and not too salty (my favorite part was the skin). My friends ordered: the banana fosters French toast (absolutely delicious if you have a sweet tooth for brunch) and the 1/2 chicken with garlic fries (very generous amount of food for the price). Called Branchline and they said they were having network issues, but no problem, order was going through to the kitchen. About 30 minutes later I get a voicemail from Branchline. Their Toast/Doordash system isn't working, but don't worry, THE MANAGER is going to drive your order over to your house. Twenty minutes later, a knock on the door and the restaurant manager is standing outside in the rain with our birthday dinner. 10/10 food, 20/10 service. Highly recommend. read more

I really love this place! I've been 3 times and I never leave unsatisfied. The first couple of times I had the chicken and vegetable soup, which was great. It's no longer on the menu, but I enjoyed the snap pea salad, although you'll have to ask for no cheese if you have a dairy intolerance. Me and my guest shared a half chicken, which came with potatoes and we ordered a side of Brussels sprouts. This was more than enough food for the both of us. The chicken was great. This was my third time to Branch Line. In the past I have been pleased with the food, ambiance and service. A friend and I stopped in Saturday night for a quick bite before an event. The restaurant was busy, so we decided to sit at the bar. Most of the bar seats were empty. We ordered drinks and burgers because we only had an hour to eat and didn't want to rush. As we were finishing our drinks, the host came up and asked us to confirm the name on our reservations. "We don't have reservations. Did we need reservations to sit at the bar?", I asked. My friend and I looked at each other in surprise when the host told us we needed reservations for the bar. We were told we could stay, but the situation was awkward. The burgers arrived. When I tell you that the burger tasted just like a Big Mac, I'm not exaggerating. Now I like Big Macs, but not for $21.50. There was absolutely nothing interesting about the burger. It wasn't big, it wasn't juicy, it wasn't seasoned. Even the bun was bland. They offer no customization for the burger, like bacon or onions, etc. It was extremely meh. I've been a fan of this place for a while. The food is consistently good, and the staff is always friendly and helpful, which keeps me coming back. However, there are a couple of disappointing changes that have really altered my overall experience. When they first opened, they had a fantastic and diverse variety of beers to choose from, which was a huge draw. Sadly, they now seem to just rotate through a handful of options, which feels like a letdown. It used to be a great spot for beer lovers, but now the selection is pretty basic. But what really rubbed me the wrong way is the introduction of a hidden fee. The menu states, "We charge a 3% kitchen administrative fee. This administrative fee is not a gratuity, tip, or service charge." Going to dinner shouldn't feel like dealing with Ticketmaster! I'm happy to pay a fair price for a meal, and I always tip at least 20%, but it's the principle of sneaking in an extra fee that gets me. Isn't the cost of the meal supposed to cover the administration of getting the food from the kitchen to my table? What's next, a clean table fee? A bathroom fee? They already charge for bread, so maybe that answers one of those questions. I understand that it's tough to run a restaurant these days, but it's hard on customers too. The best thing you can do is be transparent about your prices. If it costs more to run the business, then just raise the price of the meal. People will decide for themselves if they can afford it. But adding hidden fees on top of tipping culture is just insane. And for that reason, on principle, I won't be supporting restaurants that include these kinds of fees anymore. Found this place last minute for a mini celebration on a Friday night. We had to wait to get seated despite having reservations before coming in but the wait wasn't too bad. The atmosphere of this restaurant was very nice, and classy but casual. We tried the mule, and espresso martini for cocktails. They were both good but we especially loved the espresso martini!!! (Must try if you like espresso martinis) Food wise everything was delicious!!!! There are a decent amount of options on the menu and a decent amount of seating inside and outside (with heaters). The chicken sandwich was not bad but the chips (crisps as they are called in London) were a wee bit greasy. My colleague had the beet salad. They did not a DIPA on tap because the new keg was being tapped. That never did happen so I substituted an IPA which was not memorable. My experience at Branch Line was mixed... the good was good enough that I'd gladly give them a second chance if I lived in Boston. Service was excellent, attentive and prompt. Cocktails were innovative and good. The burrata and pear salad was one of the best salads I've had in the last few years, with a bright citrus dressing that beautifully balanced citrus sweetness with savory elements like cumin and pepper. The sugar snap pea salad was refreshing and lovely. The Berkshire pork chop, on the other hand, was a failure. I should mention as a caveat that when the two of us were seated, another table of nearly 20 had recently been seated, plus there was a private event with roughly 40 people in the patio tent. So the kitchen was stressed. But if Branch Line is going to accept large parties, it needs to be able to handle them without the quality of the food suffering. About that pork chop: we ordered medium-well, but it arrived completely well-done. Although it was still moist, it was a VERY odd, translucent gray color that was reminiscent of fat and very off-putting. This color and texture ran through the entire (quite thick) chop. It definitely had the feel of something that had been over-marinated, then kept far too long in a sous-vide bath before being lightly pan-seared before serving. It tasted good enough, but I can't call it a good pork chop. It's served with "mustard cream sauce, sauerkraut and latke." The first two are accurate. But --note to management-- in no way is a thin wafer of hash browns a "latke." Not even with creative license. If you're going to appropriate culturally-specific dishes, at least do them right. Otherwise, call it what it is: a "crispy potato wafer," or something like that. Calling that dish a latke is like serving a beet and feta salad and calling it borscht just because it has beets and a dairy component. read more
