She told us she doesn't read her reports because she would be reading all day and doesn't have the time to do that. She is very flip and disrespectful in her answers. I just think she doesn't like her patients to be involved in their health and prefers to not have to answer any questions. She also has the worst memory. Every single visit I ever had with her in a year and a half was like meeting her the first time. I feel sorry for Felipe who probably has to listen to upset patients all day long. She also pushes all her detox oils, supplements and the 900 dollar sauna on me before she even diagnosed me with Lyme disease. I get the impression she is making money off all these things to treat Lymes, so guess what? Everyone has Lymes!!! STEER CLEAR. This woman admitted she has brain fog because she too has Lymes. That isn't exactly the person you want handling your medical. Please, save yourself the drama and seek quality health care elsewhere.

Dr Carlson takes a very personal approach with her care, where she almost feels like a family member because she wants to know about how you feel and what you've been up to since she saw you last to ensure she can offer real advice that will apply to you, not a textbook stock response. She really listens when you're describing symptoms or ailments and takes notes in your chart as you converse. She offers options, never hesitates to suggests further testing yet doesn't order unnecessary labs or tests either. If your schedule is flexible, you can often get a same or next day appt. To give you an idea of how wonderful she is, I drive 30+ miles to see her and there are plenty of options much closer to home.

She told me she would help me figure out why I was suddenly so sick with varying ailments. During the years she wax my doctor I had several surgeries, medical procedures done, with no idea as to what was causing the problems. After 3yrs, still no concrete answers (only guesses), with progressive symptoms. She prescribed me prednisone, thinking I might have early MS. During the 2 weeks of steroids, I felt great. About 1 week after, I felt like I was literally dying. I felt I might have found what I had & brought her info to help me. She stated she would no longer have me as a patient. She said she would NOT diagnose nor treat Lyme Disease. I was left devastated. All my signs, symptoms fit and even the history of them (stages). Thankfully I found a local doctor who would help me. Dr. Kurt Johnson diagnosed & treated me for Lyme Disease, Babesiosis, Anaplasma, Erlichia. Him and Mitch Hogart saved my life. But due to not being diagnosed & treated early (it took 3.5yrs), i am & always will have permanently damaged nerves, lost organs, chronic pain, etc. Doctors who think Lyme Disease or Co-infections are not in California...... Wake up, your killing your own patients, going against the oath you took "do no harm". I don't blame her fully for lack of correctly diagnosing me. I blame her for completely excluding Lyme Disease.

This was actually great by me. Very rude office staff and his nurse was quite difficult as well. They seem much more interested in collecting their fees rather than the well being of their patient. I was recommended by several co-workers who couldn't say enough good things about her practice. Unlike other doctors I have been to, I have never felt rushed or as though my concerns were not attentively acknowledged. I recently had a severe nerve damage issue and a heart issue that required repeated visits and neurologist/cardiologist referrals and Dr. Paul, NP Loudermilk, and their wonderful staff went out of their way to work with me, both making sure I got the care I needed as quickly as possible and that my referrals and procedures were covered by my insurance. The staff does document everything about your visit on a portal you can access to get all your medical information, while you are in the room. Personally, I don't take that as not listening...I see it as something beneficial to me later. It is usually very difficult to start as a new patient there...for good reason. Both of these ladies really know their stuff! They have at lot long term customers. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Gaining 30 lbs in one month and completely unable to get out of bed, let alone care for her,  I went to my doctor. She tested my thyroid and told me everything was fine. When I fought back saying everything was not fine she agreed, condescendingly, to send me to an endocrinologist. I was quickly diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and placed placed on Synthroid. "You take this pill every morning, and you won't have to worry about this anymore." If I had a nickel  for every time a member of the medical community said that to me, my family and I could on a Disney cruise! For the following five years. I struggled with infertility. Eight miscarriages followed; many injections, many tests, and no answers.  The weight fluctuations continued, as did the out of control rage that could overtake me causing out of body experiences. Why couldn't I calm myself down? I had a doctor laugh me out of his room when I said I had heart palpitations, and suggest I undergo psychiatric treatment for trauma. My feet hurt, my head hurt, my house was a mess, muscle pain and muscle weakness abounded and more than anything I was exhausted. The list goes on and on. In January 2013 I gave birth to a healthy 7 lbs. 1 oz. baby girl. Immediately following her birth, I again crashed. I gained 50 pounds in one month. I produced absolutely no milk, as with my first. And every doctor that I went to see told me to eat less. At this point I was a vegetarian, having just changed over from vegan during my pregnancy. There aren't enough carrots in the world to get me up to the 267 pounds I was. It was a nurse who pulled me aside and told me it wasn't my fault. That it was Hashimoto's disease. I finally took my health into my own hands. I started to research Hashimoto's disease, finding out that it was an autoimmune disease. Imagine that, five years of struggling with an autoimmune disease and not one single doctor declaring it as such to the patient. I fired my healthcare provider and found new insurance and subsequently met and broke up with at least 20 medical professionals. I found that being gluten-free made me feel better, however every medical professional I talked to told me cutting gluten out of my diet was pointless. We have come to find I have celiac's. When my second daughter was a toddler I had the good fortune of coming across Dr. Nagel's name on a list of doctors worth seeing. All of them were further than one hour from my home. The list had been created by patients who had been mistreated just as I had. They had finally located decent doctors, and placed them on a list based on the kinds of tests they would run and the treatment they would give. It was clear at my first appointment that this doctor was different. Dr. Nagel was so warm, and confident. He asked me questions no other Dr. had ever asked. Is your hair normally this curly? How do your feet feel? Can I see your fingernails, please? He ran tests and called me back for a second appointment. He was matter-of-fact and comforting about his findings, "You have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and you need to be put on bio-identical Estrogen and Progesterone. I'm also going to switch you over to Naturethroid, and I will continue to raise or lower your dose based on symptoms as well as tests." He also was fairly certain that I was prediabetic and suffered with vitamin deficiencies. He placed his hand comfortingly on my knee and said, "This isn't your fault. It's not your fault you are obese, it is not your fault that you have no libido, and I can fix it." I couldn't stop the tears from falling. Fix it he did. He placed me on an auto immune Paleo diet, and set me up with a nutritionist. Turns out I was fairly knowledgeable about nutrition but I had no idea how to go about losing this extra weight as a woman with PCOS and Hashimoto's disease. In the words of Dr. Nagel, "This isn't your fault, you could gain weight on a TicTac" I have been seeing Dr. Nagel for four years now and I will let my pictures speak for themselves. He's not just a doctor; he is an angel. Thank you Dr. Nagel for saving my life.

Also his nurse is very insensitive to a very sensitive topic. When I told her my weight, she replied "whoa, that's heavy". After I had lost 8 lbs she acted like it was nothing. I am giving him 1 star because the visit with the nutritionist was helpful but overall I was very disappointed with the money and time spent with him. I was expecting kindness and understanding, I left feeling fat shamed and judged. I have had much better success with Midi Health.
