I don't know what to say about this place. We took my mother out after a week, but we initially wanted to take her out after the first day. While they were quick to address our concerns in our care plan meeting, it seemed there were new ones every day. I feel sorry for any patients who don't have someone advocating for them because the staff here is overworked and underpaid. The nurse was responsible for 47 patients throughout her shift. The overnight staff appear to be the worst as far as care goes. If we were legally allowed to put in a video camera, we would have. The place looks and feels dirty. I'm not going into specific details about what we encountered, but if you place a loved one there, be sure to visit as often as you can to keep an eye on them. Even though we hated the place, there were a few great employees. One was an aid named Barbara. The physical and occupational therapists were kind, patient, and caring. The daytime nurses were mostly very good in spite of having too many patients to care for. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I've been here 9months have spent hundreds on food because the food here sucks.Inot only looks bad but taste as bad as it looks. I have only had three or four nights where I've gotten a full nights sleep. Most of the nursing staff are good easy to help when needed. I'm only here to rehab from amputation. I will be leaving to do my physical rehab somewhere else. So my words to you will be to go somewhere else .Maybe the street or a kennel would be cleaner and nicer. read more

Review Brandywine Hall? Hmm, where on Earth do I start? Let's just say this, the CNA's and a few of the RN's were good, honest hardworking people (Sharon, Veronica, Damie, Cathy and Angeline) I've had the pleasure of meeting. Nicole and Susan, in Physical Therapy were also great, but the rest... Some people have complained of the long wait times from when you press the call button until someone answers, well, I WAS a resident of sorts. I spent 30 days there because my insurer wouldn't pay for a home nurse's aide to come see me.(I had a PICC line in for an IV Antibiotic), so I can attest to the accounts of others who have said the place is a hole. The third night I was in the AOU, or Covid Quarantine, I was woken up by a resident screaming at the top of his lungs, at 0230 in the morning. (He has dementia, I was told, and he does it from time to time.) Really? Don't they have actual facilities for people like him? So, once my two weeks in isolation were over, I was moved in with a nice elderly fellow named John. He's 70 and I'm 55. I hope he gets better and can leave. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to die there. If it wasn't for my broken leg, I'd have made a jailbreak and taken him with me! The elders left in that place literally are in Heaven's waiting room. You'll get a response from St. Peter LONG before your call button is answered, especially at night... And don't get me started on the kitchen. Dante and J mean well, but the rest of the staff obviously ignores them, for how many times both Mine and John's orders were screwed up. He hadn't eaten barely anything in 4 days when they moved me into the room from AOU. Even my general, big guy/big hearted nature couldn't impress upon them how bad they were screwing up. In closing, if you don't love your elder and you just want a place to dump them off and forget they existed, Brandywine Hall is the place to go! But, if you love them, then do you and them a huge favor, and put as many miles between yourselves and this place... Mike read more

My mother has been living here fill-time since December 2015 and my father's health has since declined to the point where he is now living with mother at the facility as of last month. The staff has always been extremely courteous and patiently answer your questions. They always shower my parents with attention and speak very warmly to them, making sure that their needs are met. We know that our parents are being well taken care of and that the staff genuinely cares for them. read more

My husband ended up here after our insurance rejected better quality institutions for the rehab he needed. It is a glorified nursing home with a small ill-equipped physical therapy department. To get to the so-called rehab area, you have to go through long hallways filled with drooling dementia patients. The people who do the PT are PT aides while the Physical Therapists spend their time on computers filling out forms. There is poor supervision of the aides. Patients do not receive the full hour of therapy for which they are charged. The food is high in fat and sugar and almost inedible. They tried to keep my husband in there for the full month that insurance would cover, but I pushed for his discharg. Written complaints to Brandywine, the state, and the social worker who recommended the place remained unanswered. It was one of the worst experiences of our lives! read more

This Has got to be the scariest so called nursing home we have ever seen. The place is filthy, with the smell of urine in the hall ways, the patient rooms remain unclean for not just days but weeks on end. The staff does not timely answer call bells or calls for help from the residents and we hear screaming and mowning most nights while there from patients who seem to be in pain or from being ignored. Most of the patients are very heavy made so we firmly believe from the horrible, cheap food they present to the patients who are here. Hot dogs/ weird Kalbasa seem to be a weekly food group here, little vegetables, nutrition, cheap white bread and food that I would never serve my dog, let alone elderly people.The patients /residents are also overly medicated to a point of being mentally unstable so they can't talk or are incoherent. The overmedication goes very far and medicating patients who are not even in pain. I believe they are doing this so that they just bill the state higher. They also have a hard time with staffing they bus in all of there help from Philadelphia at night, not knowing the competence of anyone there. This is a very dangerous place where I would never leave anyone let alone a loved one. This is more like a sanatorium with heavily medicated resident elderly who can't speak for themselves. It is a very sad place. One guy who had family here has stated in former review that "he wouldn't leave his dog here". We would not leave our Goldfish here. My Aunt is currently a patient. Her calls to use the bathroom go unanswered forcing her to go in her diaper (which all patients who can't get there on their own have to wear for this very reason). She has contracted numerous UTI's, once ending up in an 8 day hospital stay. The food is horrendous, high in salt and fat content. She is neglected and treated poorly. I am in the process of trying to get her moved as soon as possible. I was told her insurance has denied her physical therapy because she apparently refused to participate 3 times in a row a week she was feeling very nauseous from new medication. Personally, I think they just quickly ask and don't explain the consequences of saying no, so therefore no therapy has to be given. I would NOT pick this place. It was our only option at the time.
