Typically on hikes when you see a dog approaching you leash them immediately to pass. This isn't the case here. I only write this post to warn others.

The higher portion of the trail included a very narrow path that is on the edge of a drop-off with some precarious footing. The path is described as "An easy walk" on the Trust's website. More dangerous was the White Circle trail heading south that connects to that section of Green. It is a boardwalk for quite some distance. It was so overgrown that I couldn't see the boardwalk immediately ahead. Worse, my husband fell when a board broke downwards when he stepped on it. I don't know how he wasn't injured or at least, didn't fall into the water. Fortunately fell, sitting on the remaining boards. I tried to reach someone at the Guilford Land Trust today to warn hikers to avoid that trail but no one answered the phone. The voicemail was full. I sent an email. Lots of big dogs and one became very aggressive towards my dog who is only 40 pounds. I ended up having to leave. The North Branford Dog Park is much better and safer for pups.

"How about through Devil's Hopyard?" This was a common discussion between my partner & I. It was only during our last ride that we actually parked our bikes & got off them to explore. So imagine my delight to find waterfalls, creeks, beautiful trails, & a covered bridge! There were quite a few people there, but it didn't feel crowded at all. It was possible to evenly disperse ourselves to not disturb other people. The only con (& this is just Mother Nature at work, so all we can do is prepare better in the future) is the amount of mosquitos. Load up on your favorite deet free bug repellant & you'll be good to go.
