Katies is very affordable, and perfect for older women. I'm not saying that younger women can't shop there, but it generally targets the older demographic (okay not 'old' I'm just talking anywhere from your thirties and up). The staff are friendly, the store is fully stocked and you always get a nice cool breeze when you walk in. I know that's a weird thing to comment on, but I don't like walking into a hot stuffy store. You might like it, but it's not for me. Especially if you have to try on clothes!

Yay for Aussie designers setting up shop in Adelaide!…read more Up until now you've only been able to nab yourself a small selection of sass & bide in department stores or a smattering of boutiques around Radelaide, but then the bigwigs of Aussie (and international) fashion opened their very own boutique on Rundle Street ....where else? With both their Ready to Wear and diffusion line s&b vie plentifully stocked on the racks, this is the place to head for your own little piece of the action, or at the very least to browse the pretty things. This is designer clothing and the prices reflect that: expect to pay $350+ for a dress from the main range, about $200 for denim and $120 for a tee. While s&b are renowned for their embellishment and loud prints, for those among us who are more minimal in their tastes, there are also some amazing silk dresses, leggings and tees around to tickle your fancy. The boutique is minimal and easy to browse, letting the clothes do all the talking, and the staff are always lovely and pretty-as-a-picture to boot.

If you wear one of their dresses, you will make my eyes and mouth go open wide. sass & bide is the namesake label of Sydney designers Sarah-Jane Clarke (sass) & Heidi Middleton (bide). These best friends broke the rules, followed their hearts and today enjoy local, national and international success. Congratulations to both, there needs to be more people like them so I can do more shopping! A former accountant and advertising art director, they are an anomaly in an industry where fashion college or working as a design assistant is rite of passage. sass & bide is one of Australia's most respected and loved fashion labels, recognised globally. Their dresses have modern, distinct designs and are dedicated to the sexy, strong, the obscure & the beautiful. Oh I must say the look of the interior, and the really impressive changeroom is something I've never seen before in a clothing store! I was going to give you 5 stars because your silky material is definitely of the highest quality, but you're too expensive for me! They were previously all factory outlet stores but have morphed into a perculiar mix of dubious fashion and useful but inconsistently themed retailers. Lula Blu is a little gem in the rough on this busy road linking the city and the South Eastern Freeway. Perfect for even the most discerning of Bowerbirds it specialises in handbags, jewellery and a few selected items of clothing. The immense selection of affordable, interesting and unique jewellery is what interests me most. The wonderful badges and quirky purses make perfect gifts or little indulgences for your own collection. The bags are for the most part very pretty and inexpensive but I have an aversion to non-leather accessories of this type, so sadly they are not for me. The clothes are also VERY affordable and appealing for women around the 20 to 50 mark. This collection is extended on next door in Lula Tu with the welcome addition of shoes! The Funkee Closet stocks kids clothing from newborn to sixteen, the sixteen was a recent addition as there was a cry for someone to stock at least some clothes for boys from 12 - 16 years of age. Poor boys always lose out in the fashion stakes, doesn't matter where you go it's either surf, skate or dork wear, not much option! And yes it's all designer wear from surfey Quicksilver, Mossimo to Soda Kids, Roxy and several in between...I didn't see OshKosh though but hey, can't have them all. And yes the prices are higher for name brands but some have the quality to last a long time and The Funkee Closet does have sales from time to time. On my visit there was twenty percent off but alas my stubborn child had no interest on this day, Xbox was calling at home and the sooner the better in his view. For sale also were hats, caps, some shoes, accesories, bags, etc. Driving past you can't miss it as it's hot pink exterior is loud and clear, inside are floor boards, lots of pink for the girly girls and a more subdued colour palate for boysey boy wear too, loved the two mandatory shop fitting black chiffon style hanging chandeliers. The staff were friendly and very helpful and with several customers they still managed to touch base with everyone. Great stuff girls!

I recently made a special necklace for my best friend's 21st in here and she now wears it everyday. I also made a heap of rings using buttons and ring connection parts for Christmas presents. It's personal and affordable! Don't know how the heck to make a piece of jewellery? There's beading classes available and you can also throw a beading party here, which isn't restricted to ages. The owner is great, helping you pick pieces to suit and then showing you how to connect everything with pliers so you can sit down and create the piece yourself in the shop. And to put the cherry on the cake, she's also a dressmaker, so feel free to bring in any clothes you want altered and get two things done at once.
