One of the late night spots there in Marathon definitely has the old keys vibe. Dirk said "The Late Night spot" and that it was. Live music young fun crowd with live music and karaoke. Football games were on and the lights above the bar made it feel like a party. Food was good when it was available. Had the smash burger and it was a perfect late night burger. read more

This is the worst karaoke I have ever been to. We run a karaoke in our hometown and participate in alot of karaoke. My husband and I walked in and he gave the lady our names. We are not locals, but stay in Marathon between Christmas and New Year for about a decade now. We are always sure to patronize the Brass Monkey. The Brass Monkey falls under the "it is what it is" category for me... If you've been there before, then you already know! During Happy Hour, I appreciate being able to enjoy a local IPA that is VERY reasonably priced. For a long time, food was not an option, but now it is! They have a decent menu of bar-type foods available. After 10PM on certain nights, there is a terrific food truck outside serving up fresh and tasty eats. Even though we're not locals or regulars, the bartenders have always provided great customer service. Sometimes the bar is loud, sometimes it isn't... it just depends on the night and what's going on. There are a few games available to play, several TVs for viewing, and two pool tables. Live music can be enjoyed on certain nights at certain times. When we visit the Brass Monkey, we get a chance to drink and unwind in a comfortable atmosphere that is very entertaining. Never been here before. Don't know if I will return. We didn't eat any of the food, we only had drinks. The service was pretty good though. The ambience was kind of dead because it was too early before the live band would've started. Maybe we might come back at a later date and definitely at a later time. But I would still recommend it to anybody. read more

Dive barrrrrrr!!! Loved this one from the moment we stepped in! They were playing Young Dolph one of my favorite rappers. You can choose songs on their digital juke box lol. The best part about this place was definitely the burgers you can order right outside their door! We learned about this place from some employees at our resort and I am so glad we listened to them!! If I could give this place 200 stars I would. Simply the best place on earth. My friends and I are visiting marathon and we heard great things about the brass monkey so we figured why not try it out, not knowing the fun we were about to have. Once we got in the Uber he informed us that it was Christmas in July tonight at the brass monkey. It sure was Christmas. The vibes were immaculate and it was PACKED. Freddy was playing the guitar and his live music was incredible, he can really get a crowd going. Also they took Christmas to a whole new level I went home with TONS of new goodies that were all being handed out for free, everyone was so generous. I would 10/10 recommend this place if you like a good time. Everyone here was in the best spirits, and not to mention there was a buffet! read more

Let me start with it's a ***DIVE BAR*** don't even think about it if you are looking for anything else. You can't be smoke sensitive either. They have a cigarette machine!! My two college pals and I, Rory and Ben, were looking for a endangered species in the Keys: a bar open past 11. We were lucky enough to stumble across this gem, THE BRASS MONKEY. At first we were a little intimidated, as the inside looked dark and gloomy, however we were pleasantly surprised. We had the greatest single night of our young lives. We started off ordering a round of rail drinks, which were cheap and strong. We were quickly invited to a game of pool by a fiery couple. A couple of games of billiards and several shots later, we were best friends. The bar was filled with characters, from wise man Jack to a horny Italian professor. Freddy, aka Shreddy, was awesome as the live entertainment. It was our bud's birthday, and the kind folk of the Brass Monkey made certain that he didn't have to pay for a drink. The jorts-rocking bartenders were friendly and quick. We left both our hearts and our socks at the bar that night. This place had it all. I couldn't help but think of Toby Keith's song "I Love This Bar." It's everything a watering hole should be. The other reviews don't quite do it justice.
