We ordered a coffee and then thought about having dessert, something sweet. There were only two sweets on the menu. My wife thought about a mousse au chocolat but when she saw that it cost 7.50 Euro, though it best to just stick to the coffee. Yes, it seemed an expensive place (or perhaps we're cheap). Coffee was 3 Euros a cup but came with a little chocolate. Then again, most coffees in Belgium do, or at least a cookie.

Sauces to accompany meatballs in Belgium vary regionally; the pears just supply a light sweetness to a savory brown sauce - delicious and not pear-forward at all. The meatballs were juicy and pretty tender. Solid frites and a little homage to a salad rounded out the meal. Beer selection is ample/normal for a Belgian cafe. It's not a destination just for beer variety but there are good libations to pair with any dish.

This place has absolutely amazing food (which goes with the price). Their salads are great (I…read moreparticularly enjoy their goat cheese/honey and apples salad), but their other meaty dishes are great too. The inside of the restaurant is huge, so you can easily come in with a big group just as you can go there for a dinner-for-two. The roof patio is my favorite part of the restaurant, especially on a sunny day, for even though it's above the street, you get to see a lot of roofs and they have flowers on the white balustrade so you can almost imagine yourself on vacation. The staff is generally correct, though they have a tendency not to smile much (perhaps it's not considered to be the proper form when working at a "fancy" restaurant?). Still, they're always very helpful and definitely know what they're doing. A definite recommend for an outing when you want to take some time out of your day and have a fancy meal.
