Efficient services. Great Emergency Room services, friendly staff, and I felt like my personal needs were met in a timely manner. This was my first experience in a hospital where I was not kept waiting to be discharged. I've had several bad experiences with hospitals in the past, it was refreshing to see such a high standard of care. I was in my room after being tachycardia and the nurses were saying oh he's trouble probably on drugs and I don't do drugs and 2 of the nurses talking about this out loud stating I had tachycardia so all patients could hear then said we should let him die and started laughing other nurse said we can't do that that's not right of them read more

My husband and I were visiting Vermont from out of town (CA) when he began to experience chest pain upon inhalation. We were seen in the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Emergency Room and had the BEST care! From the initial contact with the receptionist to the triage nurse (Allyson) to the LPN Liam who did the EKG to the ER doc Dr. Liza Conley to the Imaging Tech Ray Busher who did the CT scan, we were treated so kindly, professionally, and competently. It is incredibly scarey to have to deal with a medical emergency, especially far from home, and we could not have asked for a more wonderful team. We also just happened to be fortunate enough to come to the ER during a lull of activity and so we were in and out within 3 hours of arrival; an unusually rapid processing in any emergency room anywhere. I was just there. I will try hard not to go back. I went to the ER and waited to be seen. I saw people just coming in after me that got taken in right away while I was still sitting waiting. Went to the ER for comprehensive testing to diagnose an acute illness. Waited a week for lab results only to find out they lost/mishandled the most important lab specimen, so I am left without the results I went in for, having to start over. read more

This is the worst hospital ever ... The ER PA.her first ne is Amy is too lazy to do her job ... I was in a bad car accident and since I had no broken bones I was released with her refusing to see why I couldn't walk.... I'm severe pain I was forced to sit in a wheel chair when I should not have been sitting to start with.... Unable to walk or take care of myself while she decides she is.too lazy to find out why I can't walk .... Inadequate is the understatement of the year she should be fired immediately... Physicians oath is to do no harm and she causes great harm ... Update I went to an actual hospital where the doctors actually want to do their job there is sever swelling in my back causing my legs not to work and they are not shocked I can't walk .. please do something before she seriously injured somebody.... What that PA did was nothing short of neglect and abuse of a patient.... You do not discharge somebody who can't walk ... I say her license suspended should be the least that happens ... read more

I have received nothing but poor health care and contempt for being too needy. I have never gone to a hospital except in times of great need. This attitude baffles me. I would say that the care is substandard and not to bother going there unless absolutely necessary. They are slow, lazy, not concerned with peoples well beings at all, gossipers, overwhelmed with their jobs, and overall they seem to have contempt for sick people. I have to travel a great distance to get anything different. read more

Waiting in Emergency Room waiting room where 2 others have been waiting for over an hour just to get into the ED seems the only way to get in the actual ED is to co Bu ambulance because there is no movement from the waiting room. This sucks when you come here sick because you are sent by the doctors office. read more

My late husband was taken to the Emergency Department on many occasions in 2021, the last being October. He received wonderful care, even though they were short staffed. The last visit, he was in terrible pain and treated as a life threatening patient. He was not the best patient to have either, ringing call button frequently. The nurse or doctor would come in showing compassion. October visit was his last, he was transported to DHMC and passed away. It is hard to try to understand how short staffed hospitals are now, all due to the pandemic. Please try to be patient and understanding. They are doing the best they can and, usually, every room and halls are full. read more

My main complaint is the online billing portal which data does not mirror the statements that are sent out. Recieve a bill, get online to pay it and a different amount will be there necessitating a long on-hold time with an unsympathetic customer service rep to pay the actual statement amount. My advice is to carefully inspect each statement and to cross refefrence payments made by your insurance company before you pay this hospital a cent. I forsee an audit coming to BMH which will reveal years of incompetent biliing resulting in consumers paying tens of thousands of dollars which they did not owe. Payments made from bills suffered over several months by increments. Liken it to the equivalant of 'death by one thousand cuts' - a bill a month, maybe more until they're done squeezing you. read more

I'm sure there's a lot of great people at this hospital, I've met quite a few of them. But I suspect I may have been raped twice during separate surgical visits. The first time I woke up in recovery, my vagina was sore, definitely in the wrong area for a cath. I tried to come up with some excuse as to why I was ordered to not wear underwear prior to going under but never could figure out a reason. When I awoke in recovery, I cried, not out of pain, but I felt like something was profoundly wrong, like I was violated and my subconscious was just blocking it out. The second surgery (same Dr) went about the same. This time, however, I went in and came out bleeding from my vagina. Spotting, really. But I had not been prior to surgery and I do not have periods. Again, my vagina was sore, same as before, but now there was blood. I questioned a nurse and she ran off with a VERY scared look on her face and never came back to the floor. Less than a year later I was in another hospital for a related issue, had a third surgery by a different Dr. I was allowed to keep my underwear on, and had no vaginal pain or bleeding afterwards. I called Brattleboro Memorial at the beginning of winter and voiced my concerns. Despite saying they would look into it, I've yet to hear a response. If you are a woman, please seek surgery elsewhere. I'll never know what happened to me, but something did, spare yourself this emotional trauma. read more

Everyone here was so great. The nurses and doctors listened and communicated with great care. I have never been seen so quickly in a hospital. It was immediate care. I was prepared to wait hours. Each nurse that took care of me was patient and friendly. I couldn't have asked for better. I would highly recommend. read more

I'm still shook after having visited BMH emergency room! An elderly person was brought in on a stretcher screaming from a back injury and put into a wheelchair(w/o a word spoken to her). A nurse then pushed this vulnerable person ( in only shirt and underwear; blanket had fallen and never replaced) to the center of the waiting room. Left her(on display) screaming for help and begging for someone to sit with her. The nurse never spoke or showed any sign of empathy. This wailing and begging continued for well over an hour w/o ANYONE acknowledging her. I sat helpless in a far corner behind glass (isolated w/respiratory infection) ;tears falling and feeling as if I were part of a horror show. I asked more then one nurse to help her and was told "They must be working on it." The only person acting as if they could hear her screams, was a young girl behind the desk acting as if she were annoyed. Franticly texting my own daughters back and forth, them wondering if they would be allowed in to sit with her. Then the same crabby nurse finally returned and crossly told the screaming lady she was taking her to a recliner in back( which I'm guessing had been there an 1 1/2 hr ago when they brought her in) ; ordering her 2 x to put her foot up on the wheelchair; even though it was obvious she wasn't capable. Finally lifting the ladies foot and wheeling her away. Total disregard for another human beings physical/mental well being from those entrusted with our care. No one is too busy for a kind word or comforting touch ,especially toward one of our most vulnerable ,alone, in their time of need. My heart goes out to her! read more

I'm sure there are some good doctors there and the nursing and receptionist staff were really nice, but the doctor scoffed at me when I told him I had an incredibly painful muscle spasm in my back that made it hard to move. Wound up having a friend take me home instead. Not worth it. read more

My 4m old son had a fever of 103. we came in expecting decent help and waited 2 hours in the waiting area and I'm currently going on 3 hours in the room. The only other person was a druggie. They've done nothing but check vitals! read more

I was brought to the emergency room on Thanksgiving morning with an apparent stroke. They rushed out to collect me from my husband's car; evaluated me immediately (no waiting room time at all, I assume husband checked me in). I had doctors come back to re-evaluate me every 30 minutes or so (checking speech improvement, I presume) for the next 6-8 hrs. They gave us good (and reassuring) info on TIA. Then admitted me for mild pneumonia we were completely unaware of. Discharged the next morning. Treated respectfully and attentively throughout. read more

I was brought to the ER with a cut on my head and a concussion. They glued the cut shut, but otherwise did as little as possible. They turned me out in the middle of the night without proper screening. The concussion was diagnosed by another VT ER the following day and I am still recovering. Stay away. read more

I went to the ER with pneumonia and dangerously low sodium. My doctor told me to go. At triage, the nurse told me, "we don't even treat that level of sodium", meaning it was fine. Then once I was in the room, another nurse, Heidi, comes in and says the same thing making me feel I was wasting their time. Then the doctor came in and she was nice and understood the gravity of the situation. I was finally admitted to the hospital and the rest of the experience was nice. I'm very disappointed at the lack of knowledge of the ER nurses. read more

I have suffered abuses at this hospital that are still causing me trauma. The ER was a terrible experience. If you have a choice, please go somewhere else. Being a patient on the floor was also a horrific experience. read more
