We were hungry and stressing about being out of work and out of visa in a few months time (it all…read moreworked out, in case you're concerned) and so we decided to hit up this inviting wine bar around the corner in our Croix-Rousse neighborhood.
Here's what was good: the person who I assume was the manager or owner was very welcoming and very knowledgeable about the wine (well, one would hope) and the products in the store, and he made us feel at home. We enjoyed the wine we tried, and we were in loooove with the planche of charcuterie and the assorted tapenades (olive, beet, pepper, and... what was the last one? something garlicky?) he whipped up for us. He also left a big jar of cornichons, mini pickles, on the table, which made me happy.
There was no menu ("I am the menu!" he said jovially) and it made me a little nervous not to know the prices until the end. If you're not on a tight budget, you probably don't have to worry. Several glasses of wine and tapenade and charcuterie and cheese for two ran us 20 euros each. It's not cheap, but it's not outrageous for the quality. Because it was really good. I still dream about the tapenades. Yum yum yum.
En gros: On a passé une soirée super ici. Vin exceptionnel, accueil chaleureux, charcuterie de bonne qualité, et tapenades DELICIEUSES, tout pour 20 euros par personne. (Bon, c'est un peu cher, mais ça reste correct.)
