Our food came out fast and was perfect, even though our group asked for different variations (dressing on the side, no bacon, replace it with avocado, that type of thing), and our server was very friendly. I've been to other Bread Winners before, but this was my first time at this spot--so naturally, I had to put it to the test with a friend just to make sure we are in a good place. I ordered the Cobb Salad, and let me tell you--this wasn't just a salad, it was the salad. You know when you take that first bite and just know you made the right choice? Yeah, that was me, sitting there like a proud Dad at a little league game. The greens were crisp, the chicken was juicy, the bacon was perfectly crunchy, and the avocado? Let's just say it wasn't one of those sad, underripe, rock-hard avocados. Nope, this was peak avocado--like, "I won the avocado lottery" kind of avocado. Every bite was a flavor-packed masterpiece. And then... the espresso martinis arrived. I can't say enough about the espresso martinis. Look, I was already happy after the salad, but when I took a sip of that espresso martini--made with freshly brewed espresso--I swear I could hear Andrea Bocelli singing in the background. I've been twice now and was underwhelmed both times. The service has been great. I'll give it that - host/hostess very friendly, waitstaff very attentive, bartender very good. The food was just okay. Not bad but nothing special. I probably wouldn't order anything we got again (with the exception of the giant cinnamon roll we shared...that was great). Pros 1. Food was great, no complaints. (2 stars in lieu of 1) Cons 1. Lack of care from hostess, no sense of urgency in seating us. She looked at us when we asked for a table of two and walked away/disappeared. Very unprofessional and her mannerisms indicated that she didn't give a f***. 2. After this, sat at the bar for several minutes in hopes of receiving service and wasn't acknowledged until we went back to the hostess stand for "seating". 3. After telling the hostess where we were going to sit, waitress came over and was somewhat professional. We ordered mimosas in which the brut was in a plastic bottle, flat, and had no bubbles. 4. Ordered a warm cinnamon roll that was warmed in a microwave in the open area. Our waitress, no joke, took a piece out of this cinnamon roll behind the bar and ate it. I live down the street and have come here twice. Service is great, everyone has been friendly and welcoming. I ordered the classic breakfast, no complaints. The grits are yum but I'd compare them to more of a polenta... very savory. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles. He said it was okay/good, I think there was a bit too much going on for him. Food is good, and the manager was very helpful when he corrected our bill in which we were overcharged for bacon and for an egg on one of the breakfast items, even though the menu stated the correct price. However, our waitress, I believe her name starts with an A, refused to substitute one of the sides on the hamburger entree . A garden salad or vegetables is the same price, so you're telling me you can't substitute it for fries or pasta salad which I don't want? Really ?? Very poor customer service. It is not a good way to start off when you're new restaurant in that area. They also charge for two eggs, where the Uptown location told me it was the same price whether you got one or two eggs added on so again, very poor customer service on their part. Asked for a medium well done steak, they gave it to me raw. They hesitated on taking it back to cook it more. They finally took it back and never got it back, I asked for some French fries and never got those as well. The rest of my food got cold. Didn't even get to eat my breakfast. Potatoes were not good as well. Server never came back to apologize for the inconvenience or to tell us why we weren't getting our food. The booths were separated from one another with a space that you could see the backs of the wood on the booth, looked like still in construction. It was cold inside. The menu is small writing and bunched together. I ordered the meal that came with 2 eggs, rosemary potatoes and toast. The eggs were over medium, (crunchy on the bottom) the rosemary potatoes had a lot of rosemary (quite strong, i liked that they werent deep fried) and the toast was served buttered and no jelly on the table or was offered. I had a whole breast of perfectly cooked and sliced chicken atop my salad. The staff were incapable and the manager ineffective. We had a reservation for brunch for 4, since it was a holiday. We arrived early and were sat immediately. We waited for 15 minutes for a waitress. She arrived and was friendly, we asked for a coke, a cup of coffee, 4 waters( one with lime), and 2 cocktails. After 20 minutes. All drinks arrived except for the coffee. 1 water came with no lime. And the cocktails were bitter and sour. Strawberry lemonade(below average), and strawberry fields( too sour drink), and after 30 minutes, we stopped another waitress to bring the cup of black coffee. Finally our waitress returned to take our food order. We never saw our waitress again. An hour and a half later, still no food or drink refills. Nothing. So we flagged down another waitress, and asked for a manager, who was hanging out behind the bakery counter. She apologized and said that the kitchen was backed up. We told her we didn't want the food we had ordered, so she went to ring up the beverages and bring us our ticket. This too took 10 minutes. She brought the ticket and at the same exact time our food came out. We told the food runners no we don't want the food, one girl said, " They don't want it, their loss. They couldn't wait one more minute?!" No chick we 'Ve been at your restaurant for almost 2 hours and all we got were shitty drinks. If you can't handle a full capacity, don't be open on a holiday. I do NOT recommend. We were not a large party, we were not high maintenance with lots of order changes, but read to drop $500 on drinks and brunch since we were visiting out of town. Our server greeted us while rubbing his nose. I went to the restroom which was completely filthy; this was in the morning, which tells you they don't clean regularly. The floors were filthy. It was like the filth of an outside gas station bathroom. Staff had really poor service skills. I don't believe the bus boy and hostess understood basic service skills. Everything we ordered took more than 30 minutes. I think they were probably understaffed even though we were seated immediately, so that tells me poor management. Food was served to two other tables who sat 30 minutes after us. The food we ordered was bad. Avocado was old. Waffle wasn't cooked all the way. Chicken was over cooked.
