The owner was super nice. He gave my friends and I free drinks and just let us pay the flat number of dollars (instead of paying the extra cents). The price of the items are pretty cheap and the portions are big. All the servers were super nice and the atmosphere was very relaxed. read more

We are so lucky here in Oak Park to have Breakfast Cafe. All the restaurants that were in this location either failed or moved. We no longer miss our beloved Denny's breakfasts, as this is just as good. Nick has very reasonable prices. Bring your friends, book, or dog, as it's a great hangout. There's an outdoor patio, and the whole atmosphere is casual and homey. There are also gyros, sandwiches, and other plates on the menu. Please support home-grown Oak Park businesses. read more

I have been here several times. After today, I am not so sure I will go back. The owner should not argue with me and say I did not order what I ordered. I know what I ordered. The owner then realized it was the order of another person that walked in and asked for it. The other staff is fine and tried to make it up to me. Not happy with the owner's behavior. Let's start from the top...in my point of view the food was terrible! The only reason they got a two is because their squeezed orange juice was very good. There's no ambience, no serving, it's a little more than a fast food joint. We ordered eggs over medium and mine was so cooked, it could have been a chicken again. My wife's eggs which were to be over medium was just about raw. I guess what annoys me most was the little abrupt man at the cash register, who was quite pompous and began to tell me my food was fine, until we showed him the plate of slop. Unfortunately last time we dined they wanted to charge us extra for cream cheese on bagel...........really ! Cheap, Cheap, Cheap ! Was craving a classic "get any kind of breakfast" sort of restaurant and boy did breakfast cafe come through. I had the waffle with side of fruit and eggs and it was delicious. Also get the coffee!!! I was in the area so my boyfriend and I went here to grab some breakfast. We get to the counter and order. We both are big fans of burritos so of course we each order one. I got mine with bacon and he got his with sausage. We each also got a cup of coffee. They give us a number, a much and we finish up. They have a selection of flavored and non-flavored coffees, as well as flavored and non-flavored creamer. Did I mention coffee was bottomless? If you are a bit of a caffeine addict like e this is very beneficial. The place has an outside and an inside area. Seeing as it was summer and already blazing hot by 10 am we sat ourselves inside where in not to long our breakfast burritos were placed in front of us. They were filled with eggs, potatoes, cheese and bacon. And as we ate the burrito didn't fall apart even though it was filled plumply. This is a big key for me as in my opinion I shouldn't have to use a fork clean up after my burrito as it is a meal made for just your hands. It was served with a little sour cream and salsa on the side and there was Tabasco and tapatio on the table to partake in (of course I reached for the tapatio, what type of person do you think I am!). I didn't finish so as we were getting up to get a to go cup for final cup of coffee one of the waitress/hostess/servers came up to me asking if I was done and if I wanted of box. We eat here on the regular, usually getting our food to-go as the inside can be a challenge, both busy, and always flies around the tables. One time there were ants on the wall which the busser wiped up with a cleaning cloth & then kept cleaning. Usually get the breakfast burrito, which is tons of food. My wife & son usually split one & I have one on my own. This past Saturday morning I called in our usual order ran by to grab it, brought it home, my son started eating his half & found balled up hair in the burrito. My wife found another hair in her half. I didn't call to complain, as we were running late, but hair in food, especially if it ends up in your mouth is just a game changer for me. They definitely need to clean up their act. read more

Been here a few times but will never go back. Its over 100 degrees outside and they dont turn on the air con or keep the temp high. I'm sweating over my food! The food has always been a little mediocre and bland. Scrambled eggs are stiff..try adding a little cream to fluff them up a bit. Bacon was like eating cardboard. Actually cardboard has a taste to it, bacon not so much. Some chopped green pepper/onion perhaps in the home fries would be a nice touch. Have tried other menu items thinking there has to be something tasty. There is nothing special here for what you pay for. Move on. read more

Average food. It wasn't too fancy but it's great for a short stop in the morning. The breakfast potatoes were great and so were the pancakes. The food was severely underwhelming and overpriced for quality. I had a breakfast burrito that was highly reviewed, it was nothing to speak of. The guests I was with got pancakes and chocolate chip waffles. How getting 20 chocolate chips dumped on top of a waffle costs $2.50 is beyond me. The Pancake was undercooked and doughy as well. Other than the average food, the staff was nice and accommodating. Go to a dennys or ihop for similar quality at a cheaper price. read more

I have been here a couple of times now and I must say I am very pleased with the quality, taste, portion, & price for the food. Breakfast items were delicious, and the gyros, Greek salad, and decadent chili cheese fries were awesome for the price. This is a great place to have breakfast, meet a friend for lunch, or sit and read the newspaper while enjoying a meal by yourself. I hope they consider having WiFi available for their customers in the future, as this seems to be a perfect place to come for people that still need to work a little bit on their lunch breaks etc.The staff here is genuinely friendly and hospitable.
