I loved this place. We did kidnapping and we did not escape but we were very close although we did not escape it was so fun and I totally recommend this place to people who love doing activities. If your read the stupid waver it says we are not responsible for death it said someone might get scared and have a great attack but kidnapping was not scary at all. Really not pleased with this last visit- I bought two tickets online and it stated my game was "sold out", a few of my friends were hoping to join in on this particular room and weren't able to due to the "sold out room"... lo and behold we get there and it's a total buzz kill to find out that a group game that could've involved more people only involved two. Wow what a unique idea! I came with 3 other friends to do the "kidnapping" escape room. We were a little late because we had to be there like 10-15 minutes early but they were very accommodating. This room was super difficult and we had to ask for a clue every 10 mins!! Our game master was super nice and helpful and we had two more clues to pass to get out but time ran out. He then came in and explained that we cant do basic math lmao! Then we got a free picture sent to ourselves at the end - so nice. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to try something fun and new. read more

Review for their room "Operation: Casino" This was our first escape room experience ever. We were told that the room "Mystery Mansion" was supposedly their hardest one and "Hostage" the easiest and nice to do with kids. We're not super experienced in this kind of stuff and didn't want to do a super tricky one with minimal chances of breaking out. And neither a room that'd be too easy and not as exciting. "The Kidnapping" and "Mansion Heist" weren't available for our group of three because we booked literally 3 hours before going, so we went with the casino one. It didn't say anywhere online that this room was associated with James Bond's Casino Royale, but I think that's because you need zero previous knowledge of anything that happens in the movies so there's no need to be worried about that. Overall, we had a lot of fun even though this room requires a bunch of math. If you're very much into puzzles and riddles this is the room for you. Fortunately a couple joined or group and they were more experienced in the matter. I don't think without their help we could've done it. (We got out in 56.31 minutes, alone we might've needed another 7-10) But it's definitely a very fun, intriguing, astonishing room and I recommend doing it very much. And, most importantly, don't give up! There were only 10 minutes left on our clock with so many tasks left to do it seemed and I didn't think we'd be able to do it. But the last few steps were done with pretty quickly so it all worked out in the end. I was positively surprised by the room's decor, setup and the way everything was incorporated into the game. This escape game actually consists of two rooms which I thought was great. It was an amazing way to spend our Saturday evening, thanks for having us and we'll be back for sure! read more

In April myself and two of my friends took on the challenge of "The Kidnapping" room. The three of us were paired up with two additional individuals. With the assistance of our game master Conor readily available and our code cracking team we escaped the room in 52:21. It felt amazing when the door led up and we broken out. Breaking out was a great reward after almost an hour of piecing together codes. Highly recommended for a family outing or just friends hanging out. read more

Had a great time escaping Operation Casino with 6 friends! The sign up and game processes went very smoothly. Our game manager, Linda, was very nice and did a fantastic job explaining the game to a group consisting almost entirely of first-timers. Her clues were helpful but still made the game over fun. At one point, a device in the room malfunctioned and Linda was dealt with the situation quickly and fairly. We all want to come back in the future! read more

We've been to this Breakout 3 times and had a blast each time. The rooms are well laid out and challenging and the person that gives you the clues was super helpful and cheery. We have done the hostage, Museum heist, and casino room and each proved to be difficult. We once went for my son's 12th bday which may have been a mistake:). This is only an hour of your time and it's super fun to do. There are so many of these places popping up. This one is in a great location with plenty of parking. The people that have done the rooms with us have all been super nice, it gets a little nerve wrecking when you have kids with you and how other people respond to that but so far, so good. I know that we will definitely be back to tackle another room and look forward to additional rooms that are added. read more

Had a great time with my daughter. It was her first room and it was just the two of us, but we still managed to solve enough on our own and use a few hints to get done just in the nick of time. I love the concept of escape rooms. My game master was Ashley she was so friendly. Only two negatives 1st was the group right beside us was so loud sometimes I couldn't hear the game master or my other team mates. 2nd the price is high for a smaller group which was a turn off when ur lookin to do something last minute. A BLAST! This was our first try at an escape room after hearing friends and family rave for years. We signed up for the hostage room. There were six slots for the room. Two others signed up, two slots left empty. The other two (strangers) ran late by a few minutes, but Breakout Games honored our punctuality and started on time. Allison was attentive, friendly and inviting and watched over us the whole time. She periodically asked if we would like hints when we backed ourselves into a corner. It was very difficult, but in a way that it was pleasing rather than disheartening. We can't wait to go back and try another scenario now that we have a better grasp on how these rooms work. Visited this place for an impromptu date night with my wife. This was the first time we had ever done an escape room, though we'd been meaning to try one for a while. We did the Museum Heist scenario as a group of two. Game Master Sam was great! He managed the hints just right for us. Can't wait to go back and try another one! This was our second time at breakout games. The first one we did was hostage and this recent time was mystery mansion. They were both fun but we liked mystery mansion the best. Got a groupon and visited last night as part of a group of 8 in the casino room. You are greeted as soon as you walk in and there is a nice large lobby to wait in. We had our own host who explained the room to us and watched us from another room and gave us hints as needed. The room was big enough that we could break up and do different things. Lots of cool and exciting tricks. We can't wait to go back and try another room! In a good location to go and grab drinks after! read more

I went to Breakout games in Columbia, and Timonium couple of times, but my most recent visit was pretty disappointing. I brought my friends who were excited about their first trip to an escape room, and they left with disappointment. We decided to do the 'do not disturb' room around the time when it was first released. Some of the equipment in the room did not work, the knobs were not working, and not responding correctly. Even when the game was over, our game master had difficulty with it. We were unable to break out from the room due to malfunctioning machines around the room. No one knew what was wrong with it. This trip was not worth the almost 30 dollar fee. They should really work on testing the rooms thoroughly before releasing it. My tip would be NOT to visit the rooms when it first releases. I had good experiences in the past, but that trip left a bad first impression for my friends. They said "guaranteed fun or your money back", but we definitely did not have fun that day. read more

Totally addictive! The rooms are well designed, big enough for a group, and come with tons of puzzles. Technology is used well. The staff here are also so friendly! From booking on the phone, greeting at the door, explaining the game, giving hints, and summing up at the end ~ they're always positive and upbeat. We had a fabulous time at Breakout! The casino room was challenging but a lot of fun. Before the game started, the helpful quiz master explained that we could ask for clues at any time. We did end up needing his help when we thought we had spent too much time on any location, and his hints helped without totally giving us the answer. My friends and I have done every game here and have consistently been impressed! A few things that make Breakout Games stand out from other area escape rooms: 1) The Staff - a lot of other games employ college kids who just want to make a quick buck, but the staff here is always incredible. The Game Masters are involved in every step of your game and willing to give as many clues as you want (provided everyone in the room agrees). They're also very quick if something goes wrong. We've had a few instances where a drawer doesn't open or a lock gets stuck and they always chime in to help us out. We also had an incident where we accidentally booked the wrong time and in one phone call the issue was fixed! 2) The Puzzles - despite doing every game, we didn't fine too much overlap among the rooms. It didn't feel like we were just playing the same thing over and over, each room had its own unique twists and we always found ourselves surprised. You can tell they put a lot of effort into their rooms and want you to enjoy the game. 3) The Safety - most games actually lock you inside the room from the outside. Breakout leaves the door unlocked the entire time (that way if there's an emergency or even if you just need to use the bathroom you can get out). Instead of physically unlocking the door, an LED strip around the door lights up to show that you broke out. At first I thought this would be lame but it's just as exhilarating as unlocking a door. Even the games where you begin handcuffed have additional safety measures so you can get out if you need to. 4) The Location - I'll admit, the building is a little hard to find at first (we joke that finding the place is the first puzzle) but Columbia is a great location for one of these! There are a ton of nearby bars and restaurants to visit after you play; ask the staff for suggestions! I will admit there's one thing I'm disappointed in...we already played all their rooms and are still itching for more! read more

Did the "Operation: Casino" room with a group of five people. We got out, and overall it was great fun. They set up the story pretty well with a short video before hand and the room was "decorated" to match pretty well. There were no technical issues and the puzzles were moderately challenging. Came here with a group of friends for a first time escape room experience. We had a great time! We played the museum heist. Staff was great and accommodating. I booked a reservation in advance and got my dates mixed up so i accidentally showed up a week earlier than my reservation. Pretty solid place. Do not disturb was a very fun and pretty unique game, definitely the best they have to offer and the only reason they get a 4*. The only issue is it is quite small. I believe it sells up to 8 tickets which is crazy. It should absolutely max at 4 players. It is a great game for a small team though. The rest.. fairly blah. read more
