OMG - i've been dying to go here for years and finally made it. My mom is from the south so my standards are HIGH for southern food and this did not disappoint. We came for brunch and I had decision paralysis, but I went with the shrimp hushpuppies, cheesy grits and a biscuit on the side. My boyfriend got the french toast. I loved everything - the grits were amazing and the biscuit was buttery and delicious. I wouldn't recommend the plain french toast. I can't wait to come back for dinner and try the meat + 3!! I will be back soon :) The ambiance is great and the people that work there are so nice and helpful with what to get.

4.5 stars. The fried chicken was actually fire. It wasn't exactly the fried chicken I was expecting but it was soooo good and the seasoning was really good and the crispy skin was perfect. Also had been craving mac and cheese and it did not disappoint. The beignet was yummy but i feel like it wasn't exactly what i was expecting for a beignet but also ive only had a beignet once. The peach cobbler was eh I liked the ice cream but it was way too cinnamon-y for me. It was decently crowded when we got there but we still could get a table so that's a good sign and the ambiance and service was great

Made a last minute decision to grab dinner at Brenda's Meat & Three because I happened to be close by on an errand and haven't been back in a while. I parked a couple blocks away (but probably could've found parking closer) and walked over and grabbed a seat at the counter. It was busy but still had a few seats and tables available at around 6pm on a Friday. Brenda's has a nice homey welcoming vibe inside, and the workers are always super friendly. I got a meat and three with Brenda's fried chicken, mac and cheese, green beans, and beets. The plate comes out nice and hot which keeps everything warm as you eat, and the portions are generous. You get to pick which cuts of meat you want for the chicken and I opted for a thigh and 2 drumsticks. The chicken is hot and crispy - the batter isnt too thick or heavy, and the chicken is tender and not dry at all. It goes really well with the sweet chili! The sides were all good, and the cold slightly sweet slightly tangy beets were a nice refreshing break from the richness of the chicken and the super cheesy thick Mac and cheese. The green beans were tender and had good umami flavor and had little bits of tomatoes too. It was a super satisfying meal and came with generous portions - I had leftovers. Honestly a great value and delicious food and I highly recommend coming for a comforting wholesome meal!

We went to Brenda's Meat & Three for brunch without a reservation, so we had about a 30 minute wait to get seated for a party of 5. I had the fried catfish with collard greens, Mac-n-cheese and a biscuit. My friend had the blackened catfish, with red beans & rice, collard greens and French fries. Another friend had the pulled pork hash with eggs and a biscuit. For drinks we had watermelon tea and one friend had a guava mimosa and another had a peach mimosa. Everything we ate was delicious. The service was attentive, friendly and prompt. I look forward to going back again soon, I need to try their beignets. I'd recommend eating here if you like NOLA style Soul food.

Great menu (always check the specials), engaged and friendly staff, efficient and effective service, nice vibes. A solid go-to in my regular restaurant rotation.

I've been coming to Brenda's for years, to both locations but this one is so easy to get to for me and the food and service is always outstanding. Can get loud but we've always come at times where it's not too busy. I always make a reservation just in case because it can get packed in there. I'm one to never stray away from something I know is good so I stick to my usual... the fried chicken! My sides stay the same as well- red beans and rice, fried okra and the collard greens. The smoky and savory collard greens is a sure winner, the fried okra Is my absolute favorite side dish though. The chicken is always crunchy and seasoned well. Consistency is always on point. We've recently veered from the norm and got adventurous trying the stuffed pork chop and that now may be my favorite entree there. The bacon and spinach and the cheese that's all melty from being stuffed inside soaking up that delicious pork juice... amazing. When we can't figure out what to eat this has become our "usual spot" Can't wait to go again

First time at Brenda's Meat & Three on a Saturday evening. Reservations are easy to make on their website. No phone reservations taken. Nice to have a reminder text a hour before reservation. Everyone enjoyed the food of fried chicken, fried catfish and stuffed pork chop. There's something for everyone here from meats/fish and plenty of sides. Street parking only.

First time trying this location. Party of 3 around 1:30p on a Thursday. We were greeted and seated immediately. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. This location has a bar in the center with plenty of seating all around it. There is also an outside patio in the back. I of course ordered the watermelon iced tea, It is so refreshing and just so delicious. I highly recommend it If you like watermelon and iced tea. And y'all already know if you're here you have to get the fried chicken. I ordered the meat and three, fried chicken with collard greens mac and cheese and coleslaw. That fried chicken with crystals hot sauce is absolutely delicious! The greens were perfect not too salty, The mac and cheese was creamy and great flavor, The coleslaw had somewhat of a vinegary mayo texture and was really good. Overall, This is one of my fave spots, I've been to the original location as well. I love the chicken and the service!

My family came here yesterday after an event we had. We had wanted to dine at another spot but their line was long so we decided to come here instead. We were seated right away in the outdoor patio but was told there would be another party(big) coming soon that we'd have to eat quickly. As was the last time we came here. The place is well kept, very clean. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating as always. Food was fresh you can taste it, but I can't seem to thing that it needs some type of a wow to it. Like it tasted good, but could use something to pick it up and make it superb I'd say. Not bad though... My sister and I had the oyster po'boy half n half with coleslaw and fries, my daughter had a chicken sandwich with fries which she liked but felt it was missing something to make it spectacular. We all agreed the fries were fresh and crispy. My husband had eggs benedict over fried chicken. The potatoes were cooked to perfection. We ordered a french toast plate and felt maybe some fruits on it would have been nice. Yes I would come again if I'm in the area. It is sure a great place to try out at least once if you haven't been by.

The breading on the meat is well-seasoned and so delicious! Definitely come here if you are looking for a hearty, comforting meal. Service is great, too, and they have a back patio if you want to bring your pet. They even placed a little bowl of water for our dog. So sweet!

When you are at the meat and three, you gotta order meat and three. Nothing was bad but some stuff was better than others. Best: The biscuit. I'm not sure I've ever had a more perfect biscuit. Soft, buttery, crispy, flaky and enormous. This biscuit had everything. Would Order Again Fried chicken (+$2 for breasts only). Semi-boneless. Very crispy. Ribs. Nice and smoky. A rather small portion, only two ribs. Mac & Cheese, Spinach, Green Beans, all delicious Wouldn't Order Again: Gumbo. mostly soup and rice and not a lot of sausage. Cornbread. I love cornbread. Somehow this one was dry and flavorless. Cheese grits. I also love grits and these were just kind of watery and also flavorless. It's nice that you get to try three sides with every meal, and I'm definitely excited to try more stuff.

Holy crap... this place is unreal! I went with some friends for a bday celebration on a Saturday around lunchtime (we had a resy). I ordered the succotash omelet (good, nothing to write home about) with cheesy grits (very yum) and a biscuit on the side (also very yum). We shared the beignet flight, which was absolutely the star of the show! Be aware that they're giant - my photo has a coin for size reference lol! The only negative was that we felt rushed by the staff to leave... Other than that, cannot wait to go back!

With it being Daylight Savings Time Sunday, I scheduled my Kaiser lab tests on this morning which means my next stop is routinely here for brunch. Likely due to the time change, there were only two three people dining on the counter and one or two occupied tables when I sat down. As usual, I studied the specials board (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=4FItuiShYesREZKjCHHPYw) before looking at the regular menu. Two items caught my eye so I asked the waiter for his recommendation of those two. Trusting his judgment, I ordered what he said. I started with the Creole Bloody Mary (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=54_DfVHzt6Oko0oUeZn5Pg) which always hits the spot for me. From the spiciness of the red pepper that lines the rim of my glass (be sure to sip it to enjoy that along with the liquid portion) to the pickled okra, I can't help but have this. For my meal, I had the chicken etoufee (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=7G_kWtiioJtY4WEiIHqNtw), steamed white rice and green beans; besides this, there was a warm toast on the plate so it was more than enough food. In fact, I took about half of the green beans and the toast home to snack on later that afternoon. Having a sweet tooth craving, I ordered the 3 way beignets (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=D9KhX6dU6Imzo1LEgcvePQ) to bring home. I started on it with the granny smith apple beignet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=di-p8okyop40lh9eKHEWTw) later that afternoon; the filling (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=mPa92JOvhwIxFVLDZsL22A). regular beignet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=hqb5lRXrDFQLgsp6ZBdxaQ) is generous and I enjoyed it without reheating it since it was the same day. The next morning, I had the plain beignet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=72&select=hqb5lRXrDFQLgsp6ZBdxaQ) for breakfast after reheating it; because I waited a few days, the shell was a little hard but still tasty and not oily. It was a little drier but still tasted fine. Yet another couple days later, I reheated the chocolate beignet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=qpua9-pyBG8w0YCrqnNYKw) which was also on the drier side but helped by the generous chocolate filling that you see oozing out. Besides those, I brought a Creole-fried chicken cutlet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=4sscW3wadShf2DZEA4odtg) figuring that it'd be great pairing with a bowl of instant noodles. The seasoning of it was perfect and that made for another delicious meal at home. The staff working the counter checked on me regularly as I enjoyed my meal. Thanks to Daytime C. (name on my bill) for the etouffe recommendation. I would order that again. Thanks also the other staff who brought my takeout food. Till my next Kaiser appointment...

What is the difference between this and the other brendas?

In my opinion Lapisara ranks in the middle due to the other excellent options available. Seated immediately--had a reso but on a Wednesday morning not really necessary. It took a long time for the single employee to get to us but we weren't in a hurry. Cappuccino was very good in a cute "bear mug" and very reasonably priced. We shared a pacific omlet--not much crab, lots of shrimp, and nice swiss cheese/scallions but tasted kind of fishy--potatoes were only avg. Son said huevos rancheros were average. Price point good for SF and portions adequate to share. Location convenient so we will try dinner there tonight before a comedy show nearby. Dinner-5++ stars; 4 of us Had dinner last night-6pm-reso but not needed. only one other group dining. Single Waitress was great-we let her know we needed to leave in about an hour for a show and she timed everything perfectly--we even had time for dessert. we ordered so many items that she brought over an extra table--we shared everything family style. Most Yelp reviews only mention brunch but the dinner was awesome--service; food: taste/quality, presentation, portions, prices we phenomenally low for SF ($200 with a bottle of wine for 4 people). We started with the garlic butter clams-small but tasty. Tuna tartar was excellent quality and enough to share. Samosas were more like empanadas--very good with peanut sauce so good it rivaled my own home made. We continued our culinary adventure with crab fried rice-delicious, a large portion and my son who lives in SF and has tried dozens of crab fried rice ranked it in the top tier. The pacific catch rice noodles with crab was also excellent-big portion, lots of crab, tasty. Final entree was their specialty-Mussaman Curry. Wow, tender meat/potatoe "stew" with a very unique flavor from the star anise/cinnamon and peanut--to die for. Creme Brulee was very good with lots of fresh fruit accompaniment My only complaint was a very limited wine selection. Lapisaia will become one of our regular spots for dinner!!!

We ordered two Plow plates -- one with the house-made pork sausage and the other with the chicken apple sausage. We also swapped the lemon ricotta pancakes on one of the plates for the almond flour pancakes so we could try both. Everything was well executed. The potatoes were nicely cooked with plenty of crispy pieces, and the eggs came out exactly as we requested. The texture was softer and mushier than we expected. We were hoping for something a bit lighter and cakier. Between the two, my boyfriend preferred the almond flour pancakes. Overall, I think Plow is worth trying, but it's not a place I'm in a rush to return to.
