I ordered what I believed were 5- to 6-week-old hens and roosters from this business. The order arrived on time, but one rooster was dead on arrival, and the remaining birds were not 5 to 6 weeks old as described on the website. The Rhode Island Red, Bresse, and Orpington roosters were fully grown. The three Bresse hens appeared old and near the end of their lives; two have died, and the third seems likely to die soon. Two Sussex hens I ordered also died shortly after arrival. I complained to Justin, who promised to refund part of my payment, but I have not received any refund. Based on my experience, I believe this business is dishonest, and I will not purchase from them again. read more

Then pushed back to April 30 then pushed back to May 6 asked how old The chickens were on May 6..4 weeks and he said he needed 2 more weeks ( nevermind 6 week old chickens are not pullets never the less , called 2 Weeks later and he said they were still 4 weeks old and needed more time. The math was not mathing and the truth was not forthcoming, so I canceled my order. I want my time back. read more

I have received MANY ORDERS of BRESSE chicks from BresseFarms.com this year. ALL have been beautiful and healthy chicks. The thing that people don't understand is that while shipping through USPS the chicks can pick up some bacteria as well as become injured, it is not the fault of the hatchery. Justin sent me the wrong hatching eggs and tried to gaslight me into thinking that was some error in recordkeeping on my part. This was years ago when I was new to several of the breeds, and so I let myself be convinced by his authoritative denial. Looking back at it, and hearing all the other complaints of people who get the wrong chicks from him, or they get mixed breeds, and seeing the many screenshots of how he diminishes people's concerns and brushes them off, I'm leaving my review now. Garbage chickens! I bought 12 American Bresse hatching eggs. They shipped 13. Waited 24 hours and placed in the incubator. Only 5 were fertile and hatched. And what a surprise one was a Splash Bresse. Justin said that wasn't the case, but it was. He said he would give me credit for a chick. I wanted a refund because I didn't want to order 6 chicks. The 5 that grew out eventually had genetic issues and died before they could procreate. We have a lot of other chickens and they are healthy. Bresse Farms is shady and has really bad products and customer service. read more

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!! i ordered 12 hatching eggs of white bresse and black copper Marans. I was contacted and told that they would hatch out my eggs because people was having such a bad success rate and iMessage him and told him I had already bought an incubator to incubate eggs with my daughter, but he insisted on him hatching. I received six white breast and I received six black copper Maran. 1 dead at pick up and one died that night. He said next order he would honer it. After about four months we started noticing the roosters in the one hen of the black coppers was just all black so I emailed him about it and he said sorry that was his mistake. Those were actually black bresse and he would send me some new chicks. So out of those chickens, I had 3 white bresse hens two roosters. And then I had one black hen and 4 roosters. I received my new checks almost 2 months later. And now a couple months into it he credited me two bresse and the they are both roosters. Then 6 black cooper marans one died so I have 2 hens and 3 roosters. Horrible experience with this guy should of read all of these reviews first!!!! read more

I ordered 35 splash bresse chicks from Bresse Farms. Only 8 were splash and the rest were a combo of different colors and breeds. One arrived dead and 6 died in the first 2 days. 4 days later, 10 more died. None of them look really healthy, so I wouldn't be suprised if they all die. When I asked why they were so different, Justin told me they are mainly splash with some blues. 8 out of 35 is not mainly. There were some orange chicks with fluffy cheeks and feathered legs, and one that looked like an easter egger. The problem is that you pay so much for a wrong order. I am a business owner myself. If i did that to my customers, I wouldn't have a business. I am very dissapointed and will never buy again from Bresse Farms. read more

I bought 8 adult hens & 7 DIED last year from Bresse farms for $25 EACH! 2 chickens I bought from brease farms were covered with thousands of MITES near the egg vent, the same day I received them. The vet said he had never seen anything so disturbing in all his years as a vet. 5 chickens were egg bound (one was tested by the Alabama agricultural department). The mites the vet found contaminated my whole flock, and the chicken coop within a week. I spent $300 (seven product) to kill the mites on the chickens and in the coop, as well as flea bombs. The mites are still in the coop. 7 of the chickens DIED within 2 months. There is NO govenrment facility checking the health of bresse farms' chickens currently, so buyer beware! read more

Wish I read reviews of others first. Very disappointed in this company. We received a surprise box of birds, and almost every single one has died. We have over 200 chickens, and have ordered large batches and NEVER had this problem. Yes, you will lose birds, but not 1-2 a day over the course of a week from 1 batch. We reached out to the company over a week ago, and never received a reply. As a business owner myself, I know how important good customer service is, and this company lacks it. Marek's disease and aggressive roosters We bought 10 white Bresse chickens from Justin. He was very nice on the phone and got us our order before other large orders. The chicks arrived healthy. At 4 weeks, we had to treat for Coccidiosis. We were new to chickens so didn't know dosing or anything. Justin gave me the wrong dosing and wouldn't tell me what product they had sold us as "Coccidiosis treatment." I wound up going online and ordered and treated right. It seemed we made it past that outbreak. At 11-weeks, one started to develop lameness so we culled and sent for necropsy. They were just diagnosed with Marek's disease and MG, a bacterial respiratory infection. We have never had any other birds, they have a huge open yard, a very clean coup, great feed.... None of the neighbors have sick chickens, just us. Now we have to kill the whole flock and our yard will not be able to be used for chickens for at least a few years. I have no evidence that it was due to the breeder, but another review here states that their chocks developed lameness and the breeder said it was "a genetic condition." Nope! That's Marek's. And it's highly contagious and not treatable. Also, our white Bresse do have spots and various colors, which is fine, but all the roosters (except one) are also highly aggressive! They try to kill each other at 11 weeks! All-in-all, this has been the worst, heartbreaking experience. read more

Wished I had read the reviews before moving forward with my order for hatching eggs. The package was shipped priority mail and took almost 10 days to arrive (postal service). Upon receiving the package I noticed there were no lables that indicated there were live eggs inside. No fragile of handle with care labels either. Of the 25 eggs two were borken on arrival. Of the 23 remaining it was determined that 18 were infertile and the remaining five did not completely develope. An expensive lesson and I won't be visiting their store in the future. read more

I got Bresse and Marans from Justin last year. They were scrawny and unhealthy and many died right away. The Bresse I got were from a bloodline that seems to be notorious for being bad tempered. My roosters literally killed each other, they were so aggressive. It was awful. In many years of keeping chickens, I've never seen anything like it. The "Marans" he sent me looked nothing like Marans and the eggs they laid were a pale tan. This year I ate all of the birds I had left from Bresse Farms and started over with birds from a conscientious Bresse breeder and my new birds are calm, healthy, and well built, as Bresse should be. If you're considering buying from Justin, join the Bresse Facebook Groups and search for "Bresse Farms" before you do. My experience was not unique and there are much better places to get Bresse. (And note that many of the 5 star reviews were written right after people got chicks and don't reflect quality of growouts.) ETA: I tried to work things out with him for a year and didn't hear anything back until I posted this review on Google. Then within 5 minutes of posting he suddenly found my number and called and texted and offered to refund my order if I'd take this review down. No way. I spent far more feeding and housing his crap birds for a year than I did on chicks. I don't want others to make the same mistake. But, the reason you don't see more poor reviews is because he's bribing people to take them down. read more

This has been such an easy and wonderful experience! I'm unable to find a more local option for these rare breed birds, and was nervous being so far - but this has been a great experience. Our order was processed fast and as expected, we had tracking and notifications for delivery - no waiting for surprise calls from the post office! We ordered chicks from Bresse Farms late this Spring of '22. We placed a moderate sized order of 92 birds. Half were supposed to ship in September, but I was grateful to have found birds and knew that going in. Our order was to consist of 45 Bresse 35 Surprise (some variety of the following) Black Copper Marans Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Cream Crested Legbars Rhode Island Reds Swedish Flower Hens Americana's Speckled Sussex Blue Bresse ​ Black Bresse 12 Leghorns I got a weird e-mail about our order shipping as a full order so I called Justin (The owner) to check in and figure out what was up. I was told it was a computer glitch, but that our full order could ship in June instead of two parts, one in May and one in September. I said great. When the birds arrive they looked ok and we started sorting and counting. I was short 9 birds. Being the variety I ordered it was hard to tell what we were short exactly, but we didn't have our full count on Bresse (they have blue legs and are easy to decipher). I called Justin and let him know we were short and how many. He told me I should have had at least that many extras and not that many short. He said he could send me 9 Americana's in two weeks. He ended up sending 12. We've had chickens for years and this is by far the fewest extra chicks I've even received in an order. That's not here nor there, just an observation. I have a close friend who raises Bresse specifically and I called her to verify that I wasn't missing something when counting the Bresse chicks because it seemed like so many were missing. She went through the chicks with me with photos and questions and confirmed that we only received about half the Bresse we should have. We started losing chicks left and right well before the rest of our order even came in. We didn't receive a single Leghorn that we needed for quick layers and half the Bresse we should have. We planned to use the best Bresse as part of our breeding stock and bring in a couple other lines from other breeders for diversity. Missing half of them is a pretty big hit when you are paying $10 a chick! I chalked it up to an accident of the correct birds not being included. Then I came across a post from another about this particular business and the same issue. They had ordered specific breeds as well and were just sent a hodge podge and not what was ordered. After finding that post I started looking for others and I found a whole treasure-trove of them. Post after post and feed after feed of people saying the same thing. The only good reviews were upon initially receiving the birds. I have yet to find a positive review about grow outs. As others have said, our roosters were horribly mean too. We named one @ssh*le he was so aggressive. Of the 95 birds we received we had about 40 make it. We were planning to have that many Bresse and we have 12 of them. They are not breeding quality and I would be ashamed to sell eggs or chicks from the minuscule flock we have. We ended up with We've never had such a pitiful rate of success with birds. I hope you read this review and find birds ANYWHERE else. I would never buy from this company again and unfortunately it seems poor quality birds and orders of whatever they have on hand are a regular way of business for them. :( read more

We ordered from Bresse Farms and they shipped exactly when promised. I was even allowed to change my order while in progress. We experienced a 100% survival rate upon arrival and are still at 100% after 5 weeks. Very pleased. read more

I wished I could give 0 stars and should have learned after the first time ordering but gave Justin the benefit. I ordered 12 Bresse hatching eggs,. A month later received a email saying they were out of stock and he was sending 6 1 day old chicks. They arrived and he gave me 7 but 1 died in route. I got 2 hens and 4 roosters. That cost me some 80+ $$$. Because I can't have 2 hens with 1 Roo I figured I would order 12 more Bresse hatching eggs on 8-1-23. They came boxed nicely. Placed them in the incubator and after 21 days no chicks. Nada, nothing, not 1. I candled them 6 and 12 days and no signs of life but noting I could do so I let them go full course. Here it is 23 days and still nothing. Another $80+ bucks and no chicks. I emailed him and then he called me and said if you buy 6 chicks I'll ship you 12. So here is another 80+ bucks. I have over 35 years raising chickens and have incubated countless and never less then 6 have I got except now. What a racket !!!!!!! $240.00 total !!!! if I were to order the new chicks. I ordered 10 white Bresse and 10 mixed Bresse chickens. I received 25, the 5 extra were black Bresse. All arrived healthy. The owner text me as soon as he received message they were at the post office and wanted to check that they arrived safe. My chicks are now 5 weeks old. Only 1 chick with deformed feet, she is otherwise healthy. All are growing and in great health. I plan to order from them again once I can afford more chicken coops lol. read more

I ordered 12 speckled sussex hatching eggs from Bresse Farms. Of the 12 , one chick hatched out. The hatching eggs were in the mail far too long for they were not shipped out priority mail. I think I ended up with a Rooster ( he is getting big ) , and because he was alone for awhile ( I ordered more chicks from a different hatchery ) , he is very friendly. I will say that I have no idea what breed it is , because it sure is not a Speckled Sussex! It looks like a mix breed. read more

I bought 4 chickens starter pay close to $200 at Bress Farms and I am very unhappy because 3 of them already died due to disease. already gave the owner the chance to do me right by send the replacement but the owner seem to ignored my email. I make the owner aware that these bird don't look right. their wings are saggy and hang very low look like they are having flu, also gasping for air all the time as soon as I received these birds. Three of them have died and so far only one survived. I have tried try to find the health department information to report these people as they are selling infected birds to other people which can potentially cause a pandemic to the poultry industry if they all shipping sicked birds to everywhere. read more

He earned 1 star for the first purchase, because he talked me into buying Blue Bresse too; which seemed like he was being nice; but breeding for blue Bresse, I had to buy another order to get enough blue breeding stock... So what seemed like a consideration from a stranger, turned out to be a sales technique that required me to buy another $200 worth of chicks. In July 2018 I purchased six juvenile (3-4 week old) black Bresse chicks from this farm. What I received was not only the wrong color, but the wrong age. They were white, and DAY old chicks. Okay, so I contact the farm and Justin said Oh no problem we'll send you the correct ones, mistake is on us. Great! WRONG. When the "correct" order arrived, they were way too small for the age I requested (3-4 weeks old remember). These chicks looked like the same age as the mistake-order which were day-old chicks. By this time, one of the chicks in the first order died. That happens, so I let it go. But immediately, these supposed 3-4 week olds had issues. They were dying off one by one. They showed signs of coccidiosis. I emailed Justin back and he denied the age being wrong. He denied them being sick, and that is must be from the shipment. He also says if I lose more chicks and decide to order again, he'll treat me right and include plenty of extra chicks blah blah and sorry about your loss. He also said if I decide to order more chicks, to consider day old chicks and that they ship better. No, I will NEVER order from them again. In the end I had 2 chicks survive out of the 12 sent to me. read more

I bought chickens at Bress Farms and I am very unhappy with the politics. 3 months they made promises. Then I transferred the order to spring. called in January and asked if I want chickens now? I agreed because the chickens hatched from my chickens. When I opened the package, one was dead. I took a photo and sent a letter. but there was no answer. 10 +2 promised, but came 10-1. Chickens are very weak and poorly eaten to buy chicks. After 5 days 2 + 2 + 2, today has died even more. Don't buy! This is an infection! My chickens got sick too! Started to die! read more

I ordered 2 female Creme legbar chicks and they messed up my order and sent a male Creme legbar with a female. How can you mess up sending the wrong chick on an auto sexing breed? They screwed up my simple order. The owner lied to me an assured me twice it was a female Creme legbar even thou I told him there's a white spot on its head & sent several pics. He blatantly lied! Don't ever buy here. Read the reviews they've messed up people's orders. The owner told me not to ever order from them again and even threatened not to give me a refund if I give a bad review. I had a terrible experience with Bresse Farms (bressefarms.com) in Pototoc, MS. I ordered 20 Swedish Flower Hen chicks @ $9.99 each on 2/9/21 totaling $259.80 (including $60 for shipping.) I contacted them about a shipping date and Justin (owner) said they were shooting for shipment on 3/8/21. All good! The chicks actually ended up shipping two months later on 4/6/21. So shipping got delayed by a month. That's okay, I know things happen. They were received on 4/8/21. There were 21 chicks - 1 deceased on arrival, 20 others active and healthy. Shipping box was great. Two heat packs and four cups filled with growgel. I thought everything was great until I started inspecting these chicks more carefully. I soon found out my order was completely wrong. Here's what I received: 11 Rhode Island Reds 6 Swedish Flower Hens (2 with vaulted skulls) 2 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes 1 Blue Bresse 1 Mystery Chick (Deceased, did not examine) Once I realized I had a bunch of Rhode Island Reds in the order, I contacted Justin (owner). I sent him high quality photos of the chicks and asked politely if there was a mistake because these look like Rhode Island Reds. Keep in mind this farm also raises Bresse (black, blue, white), Rhode Island Reds, and Blue Laced Red Wyandottes. He reassured me there was no mistake and that I had 20 Swedish Flower Hens. However, contradicting himself he did say there should be 4-5 RIRs there for additional warmth. Well, I only received one extra chick. He said to let them develop and if they made a mistake they would make it right. I left it at that for the time being, but started speaking with Swedish Flower Hen breeders. All of them confirmed these were definitely not Swedish Flower Hens. I then examined the chicks further and found two Blue Laced Red Wyandottes in the group. Their flat combs made it obvious. Lastly, I realized a blue chick was growing larger than the others and had blue legs and beak. Swedish Flowers legs/beaks should be yellow or white. It is definitely a blue Bresse. There were also two chicks with vaulted skulls. I believe these are Swedish Flower Hens. However, this is a trait culled for, but normally you would not get these in the first place as it comes from breeding crested to crested. Only non-crested should be bred to crested so you do not have this problem. The remaining four chicks appear to be Swedish Flower Hens. After learning all this, I contacted Justin for the second time and called him out on it. He finally admitted that they were Rhode Island Reds. He claimed my order got messed up from a computer system error and that I instead received 9 RIRs and 11 SFHs. Well that was not correct either. When I sent him photos clearly showing 11 RIRs and 2 BLRWs, he admitted that the 2 were definitely BLRWs. He did not comment on the 11 RIRs (NOT 9) and the 1 blue Bresse chick. Not only did he reassure me the first time I asked (and sent photos) that there was no mistake, but the packing label on my box also says 21 Swedish Flower Hens. I do not believe this was an accident. I believe he did not have 20 Swedish Flower Hens to fulfill my order, so instead sent what he had on hand. My order had been delayed one month and he also told me in March that they had poor hatch rates at that time due to weather. I have since been made aware by other Bresse Farms customers that they've had similar experiences. Bresse Farms refunded me $139.12 of the $259.80 I paid them. To say I'm disappointed in my experience with Bresse Farms is an understatement. I'm now left to care for and find homes for almost all the chicks, along with being out about $120! read more
