First time visiting although I have passed by a thousand times. Was in the area and was brunchy so I decided to read the Yelp reviews, thank you reviewers I love y'all, and I ordered the Kolache with sausage and soft sc ramble egg. The kolache was okay. I wanted something different and it certainly was. Basically it was a sweet type roll with cream cheese but I was told it was cheddar cheese and I had no choice because it was in the roll, with a Jimmy Dean type sausage pattie topped with what I asked for was a soft scrambled egg but it was more of a fried egg. All in all it was tasty and the drip coffee was good. Will I come back again?I Probably will because I try to support small businesses. I enjoyed the dining setup and cleanliness. I was happy to see the constant flow of customers that's a good sign and my desire is for Brew to remain a part of Five Points. The service was quick and efficient. Hint to management, whenever you have new customers for the first time it would be nice if your staff would explain how things work such as once you receive your coffee there's the cream and sugar over there or if you want water it's over here luckily enough as a old lady I was observant enough to watch what everyone else was doing. Cute little cafe if you are looking for fun coffee + pastries! The plum maple scone was not only beautiful but also delicious!! I so enjoyed both of my visits to Brew. I had a cinnamon roll and iced coffee the first time I went, and a mango cake the second time which was actually today. Both the sweets and the coffee were truly fantastic. The employees were all super pleasant and masked, and it was easy to maneuver as a handicapped person. I was running out of breakfast options one Saturday morning until I started searching in my Yelp app. The reviews were great so it was an easy decision. I had no idea that you can have liquor and coffee at the same time here. The cashier up front was extremely efficient but quite robotic. It was my first time and he was helpful. I finally settled on Everything Kolache Sammy and my friend ordered two breakfast tacos. The Everything Kolache Sammy was quite amazing. The bread was soft with cream cheese baked in the middle with an over easy egg. When you bite into it, the slightly sweet Kolache, cream cheese and egg just exploded in my mouth. Wow! It got quite messy good thing I had utensils and lots of napkins. My friend's breakfast tacos chorizo and migas were also delicious. Coffee and mimosa complimented our meal. 1/2 price on refills (not free). Overall a nice experience. I will be back to try other Kolaches and sip nicely brewed coffee with a mimosa. read more

Parking on a Saturday was a hot mess. This area is the place to be. I ended up finding parking behind the building. It was a short walk around it to find it. The space has ample seating and a bar area as well. It was not the most cool, but it wasn't as dreadfully hot as outside. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie per all the reviews I read about them as well as an iced cinnamon & honey latte. I was not impressed with the cookie and wouldn't get it again. It was a bit dry and lacked flavor. I would however, come back for coffee. The iced latte was delicious. read more

After yoga in the park, I enjoy coming by here for a coffee and a bite to eat. I have ordered the Southern AF which I feel could be better if they make hot rather than served cold. Nothing says Southern AF as hot and humid, so that sandwich would be better as a grilled cheese and a dash of hot sauce. ;-) On another visit, I purchased the Texas Toast Sammy which was so tasty and full of flavor. So disappointed. Came here based on the photos and reviews and were so excited but totally let down. We ordered the OG, Migas and Chorizo with sweet potato. Sweet potatoes were so blackened so they tasted burned, the eggs in both tacos were rubbery and it was shocking how all of them had no flavor even though they had lots of toppings, mostly of the pickled variety... so all you could taste was pickled red onion. The Kolache was o-k... mostly dough with two little slices of sausage and barely any cheese. I think this hipster spot needs a little refining. Per the comment by the shop- we did ask for no cilantro- which apparently was a chimichurri. Not sure that makes up for the other issues that came along with poor cooking. Yeah. I've always enjoyed various baked goods and lattes from Brew. Great location in 5 points, it's a must if you're looking for a good coffee on that strip. I loved the mint basil latte but it's seasonal and not available today. I settled for the salted caramel which was tasty and not overly sweet, which I prefer. I also enjoyed a strawberry rhubarb pastry and sampled the Intuition Fruit Salsa Lager on tap... which def was super interesting with a lingering salsa almost peppery aftertaste. If you're in 5 points, hit them up! I want to try their various toast (saw one that had me at miso butter). read more

I've walked past Brew several times and it never crossed my mind to enter. So today I decided to #yelpitout and find a brunch-y place since I skipped breakfast and it was past noon. Brew came up on the list and I was surprised. Located in Five Points, Brew is a place that features beer and coffee.....got ya covered day and night. They also have some pastries and light eats. As a matter of fact, they serve brunch everyday until 2pm. How cool is that!! I had a vanilla chai and the blueberry pecan French toast bake. Sounds awesome right?!? It was!! I'm not the biggest blueberry fan, but I don't mind it. My French toast bake was not overpowered with blueberries and the pecans were a great compliment. It was topped with fresh whipped cream(which I LOVE) and warm syrup on the side. Can we take a moment to appreciate restaurants that serve warm syrup....they're just wonderful people. I didn't get a chance to try any brews...but there looked to be a good local selection on tap and in cans/bottles. Brew is nice and quaint and will definitely be back. read more

I come here constantly to grab a drink (Chai latte or a Chai PA depending on the type of day I've had of course), and it's a nice hip spot to get some work done. It's not the quietest place, as sometimes people get loud. But one notable thing that made me post an updated review is occassionally they play some...intense music. A lot of N bombs and F bombs, just an odd vibe to come to in the evening when trying to unwind, and definitely awkward to hear when a sweet old lady is sitting next to me sipping her coffee. Other times it'll change to some sort of weird garage ska or something. Not even sure what to call it but its a bit jarring. However, I tried the Chai PA and it is by far the best craft beer whatever I've ever had, and I'm not much of a beer drinker at all. Well I have to say I was not really impressed I went here with a couple friends who wanted to try it out...they ordered hot coffee with lavender syrup/oat milk and one with vanilla syrup which they enjoyed but were not really raving about...I wanted decaf iced coffee but that was not an option at all! the only way they could do it was some decaf hot expresso poured over ice which I don't want so I was going to buy a bottle of GT Dave's raspberry kombucha until he went to ring it up and it was $6 so I said no thanks!! how about decaf iced tea? so I was able to get a decaf Triple Berry iced tea which was refreshing but it tasted exactly like Celestial Seasonings red Zinger so this was a fail for me because I could go to Publix and buy the kombucha for $3.49 or go home and make tea lol but I do have to give them props for the minimalist hipster atmosphere and the witty drink names like "hipster speedball" which I assume was probably something with espresso...oh and also they serve beer, light bites and some pastries, cookies etc. Update: I thank the business for responding and their emphasis on small batch quality and local sourcing! read more

This place has a great vibe, friendly staff, and awesome coffee drinks and pastries. I ordered the lavender cold brew with oat milk, as per the barista's recommendation, and it was delicious. I also got a cinnamon roll warmed up, and it was so yummy - possibly the best cinnamon roll i've ever had. We sat at the bar, and the ambiance was very chill. Several people sitting working on laptops and chatting. They also had a wide selection of beers and cocktails to choose from, but unfortunately I didn't try any of these. I visited twice on my first trip to Jacksonville with my wife. We had drip coffee, iced coffee, and a latte for beverages. The coffees were strong and not overly bitter to even drink black. Latte was pretty standard but would order again. We tried some savory kolaches which were unique and make this business stand out. We tried the sausage, jalapeño, cheese kolache and the pimento cheese one (for the vegetarian wife). I actually enjoyed these more than traditional breakfast sandwiches and will certainly be back to sample some more. Got the cold brew (on the strong side, which I like) and my friend got the chai, while we both got the everything with cream cheese kolache. So tasty! We sat at the bar and started talking with one of the workers while he was brewing their chia. Yes, they make their own chai tea from actual tea, herbs, and spices! It smelled fantastic. He told us about their breakfast and showed us the menu. Well... I returned the next day for breakfast! Got to different breakfast tacos (the OG and the Black Bean - damn they were good!) and a pour over. Also got a strawberry cream cheese kolachi and a cookie to go. Delicious. As a new Floridian, I've been looking for a place I can nerd out to download my movies, type up reviews, and occasionally do my homework while I sip on a cold beer or coffee. I have finally found it here in Five Points and I will never go back to the run of the mill coffee shop. The vibe is super chill and you can park your ass on one of the stools on the bar or grab a seat at one of the community tables and get lost in your own cyber world. The bathrooms are always clean and the baristas are always friendly. In my two months here I've probably spent over 48 hours total already! The bass from the adjacent movie theater could be frightening but it's also entertaining...imagine you're updating your face book status and you think that world war Z is happening right behind you! There's coffee. And beer. And bread. And some awesome unique sodas. In other words, all of my favorite things. Cool, sleek, clean... a part industrial, a part rustic... with fantastic pops of color. There is a long bar and community tables for catching up with friends, or grabbing a caffeine fix after your selected dinner destination in Five Points. After scouting a few pics of the menu on Yelp, I wanted to try a few things: The artisanal toast, a cold brew and the Bruce Cost Jasmine Team Ginger ale. The cold brew was perfect for this sweltering day. Bold yet smooth, it disappeared before I even knew what was happening. The ginger ale had nice hints of jasmine with a spicy ginger kick and finish. I had no idea ginger ale could be so good. Now, to the highly talked about toast. My mom made homemade bread all of the time for us growing up. While my 6 year old self screamed for white bread... I look back now, with a grown up palate (stole that line from you Daisy D) and am so extremely grateful to have been raised with such fantastic farm to table goodness. Imagine thick slices, made with love and filled with flavor... layered with gourmet and fresh ingredients. Few things can beat a freshly baked slice of bread, so when it's Community Loaves Garlic Rosemary, slathered in Kimchi jam (spicy with a hint of sweet), with goat cheese to mellow it out and peppery arugula on top, it is simple, sweet perfection. I did find myself surprised of how the one piece filled me up. Like Mandie M said in our Talk thread the definition of artisan is one that produces something in limited quantities often using traditional methods. Even better when it's done by local folks. But hey, the best thing to do? Check it out for yourselves. Why 5 stars? Because coffee and beer are the perfect marriage. --- --- --- I'm very jealous of Jacksonville, in that, they have two places where you can grab local beer, and/or local coffee under the same roof. As far as I know, that's two more places than we have in all of Tampa Bay. At this particular spot, they even had cans of Big Storm beer, which you can barely even find in TB yet. Big time kudos to them for carrying brands that are just getting started up. The coffee is great here, with beans from bold bean, which is near and dear to my heart. On top of the great coffee and beer, they have tons of high-end sodas as well. I'm not sure if you call them high-end, rare, craft, or something else along those lines, but you know the type I'm referring to. Ginger beers, espresso sodas, sasparillas, etc. The people at BREW (employees and patrons) were both really cool and personable as well. The look of the place is majorly kick-ass... so much so, that I kind of want a concrete counter top in my house now. read more

It's half past midnight and I'm yelping. Why?!! (you might ask). Well, it's because I made the happy error of having a Lavender Cold Brew coffee at 4pm. It might've had a smidgeon of caffeine in it. It definitely had an unusual and wonderful flavor. Curious about by the Lavender Mimosa but as the designated driver of a car full of teens, I opted for the coffee--which I didn't regret then. (Of course, being bright eyed at bushy tailed at 1am will have the exact opposite effect at 6am which means, I'll be headed back to Brew for a triple espresso anything in the morning). I have only the one drink upon which to base my review thus far. The blonde lady who served me was helpful and nice, the bearded dude was not. So, 4 stars for the one drink and the one barista and because I like the cavelike calm of the interior space. I'm glad I grabbed a brew from Brew upon the urging of my friend. She didn't withhold any evidence, even if she is a lawyer. The jury is still out about the other menu items but I've reached a favorable decision in regards to the Lavender coffee. read more

3.5 Stars I admit, when I first heard Five Points/Riverside was getting yet *another* bar I rolled my eyes because that's what Riverside needs----another bar. However, I was intrigued when I heard everyone raving about their "Artisan Toast." It's true---it's very good! The Rosemary Garlic Sourdough was warm and the perfect amount of chewiness. The Toast was covered with goat cheese, kimchi jam, and arugula. All in all a savory and sweet combination! My sister could NOT stop raving about how good the toast was! I ordered a Cappuccino and it was alright. It wasn't so strong that I needed to add some sugar but at the same time I didn't do my "Cappuccino Swoon." It was a good Cappuccino but In the future I'll probably just stick with Bold Bean. They used to have a deal where you could get a piece of Artisan Toast *and* a Cappuccino for $5. That is no longer the case. The Cappuccino was $3 and the Toast was $3.75 I believe. What sets BREW apart from other bars is their Artisan Toast and their Beer Cocktails. I haven't tried it myself but I've heard good things from Jessica F. Would I go back? I doubt it unless I was really craving that Toast. Maybe in other parts of Jacksonville BREW would stand apart as being an innovative establishment, but in Riverside there's just too much competition in similar fields. read more

There are some cool things about BREW that put it up there. Besides having beer they have a things on toast and other drinks but the variety of beer is really nice. There are a few tables that are long enough to fit about 8 people or so otherwise it would be like community seating for those 2 longer tables. My cousin had purchased a Groupon a while back and finally got around to using it the evening we were roaming 5 Points. For 12 bucks we were able to get a flight of 4 samplers which itself is regularly 12 dollars, 2 additional pints and a selection of toast snack. The menu for toast had a bunch of different things served on you guessed it, toast. I didn't try the appetizer but it had arugula and goat cheese and butternut squash and some sort of honey. The flight sampling was arranged from light to dark the light being something I forgot while the dark was a stout. I had preferred the amber colored pale ale before the stout and ended up getting another 2 pints after that for our additional pints. My wife ended up trying some sort of bubbly thing with lavender while my other cousins had a coffee of sorts and some special soda I've never seen. No doubt BREW has some cool and different things I've not seen while bringing in beers from all over and having some local craft brands as well. It was rather enjoyable but I found it hard to get the attention of the servers at times. It did take a while for some of the drinks to be served. At one point we were unsure if some of our orders were actually forgotten or not. read more

This team has BREWed up a great place to hang out & expand your beer drinking palate. Made my way across the ditch (two, in fact) to meet some friends to try out some beer cocktails. Justin is 'DA MAN when it comes to teaching you about beer. He really knows his stuff and he can explain the reasons behind the ingredients in their cocktails work so well. The toast. It's stirred up a lot of interesting feelings in the Jax Community. What can be so special about toast? I have to admit, I was among the skeptics. That was until I had my first bite. The wheat toast with chocolate & cashew spread was delicious. It's a healthy piece of toast both in size and ingredients. While part of me envisions something a little sweeter when I see the word chocolate, it was really good and definitely filled me up. I balked at the opportunity to try the rosemary garlic toast with kmichi jam & goat cheese as I am not a fan of kimchi. However, I must admit, my internal barometer is a little discombobulated now. I have tried the rosemary garlic toast in all it's glory and I am a fan. It was delicious and I could easily put a piece of that toast down my gullet at any time. While I wouldn't make a special trip from the beaches for it, I would happily meet a friend and definitely stop by when I'm in the area. read more

What a great little spot smack dab in the middle of Five Points off of Park Street. I met my sister there this morning for a little quality girl time. Neither of us had been before, so we asked the cashier to tell us about the coffee options. We were intrigued by the cold brew, especially the lavender, so he offered to make us a sample. We graciously accepted! Let me tell you--it was SO delicious. There is a subtle, delightful hint of lavender that hits your palate. The drink is sweetened with a sugar syrup made in-house. We both ordered full size cups of it. We also opted for two freshly-baked "kolache." This is a traditional Polish baked good that we grew up with, so were delighted to see them on the counter. We have only ever had sweet kolache, but BREW offered savory variations, so my sister opted for the spinach, caramelized onion, white cheddar and I chose the jalepeno, sausage, white cheddar. Let me tell you--it was the perfect accompaniment to my lavender cold brew. Soft, slightly sweet dough with a yummy, not overdone filling. The place has several shareable tables. They offer free Wifi too. My sister and I spent hours catching up. She even asked me to be Maid of Honor in her wedding, so that made for an extra special visit! The one thing I didn't care for was the change in the volume of the music. I liked the music playing, but about mid-way through the morning, they jacked up the volume and it made conversation difficult. I looked around and noticed some folks working on laptops who also appeared somewhat annoyed by the volume adjustment. Brew has been on my radar for some time now, since I don't reside in the 904 anymore I haven't gotten a chance to try it until the other day. I had been salivating over their artisan toasts for months. It's a cozy joint that serves up coffee, beer, craft sodas, and artisan toasts to name a few. I met with some friends around noon on a Sunday and surprisingly we got a table. You order at the counter and they give you a number for your table then wait for them to bring it out to you. I had a mango orange soda and the John Lemon toast. It was so refreshing and delicious! The toast had lemon curd, honey, and an assortment of berries on it. I tried my friends dill cream cheese salmon toast then a prosciutto, arugula, pears and balsamic toast. All of them were super tasty! Service was great and its dog friendly too! What bad service. Went there for coffee and pastries fairly early, It wasnt that busy and got the worst service ever. We had two orders, a smaller one, and a second larger order. The first small order for my daughter was okay. The second order they brought out a few of the edibles, but then ? lost ? their way and didnt bring out any of the other 3 drinks and edibles. When I asked them, after waiting politely for 20 minutes, they said, oh, we will get you those items. But They made most of the drinks wrong, and items were still missing. Evidently they didnt believe me that I had not got all my drinks and they checked their receipts, before finally making them for me and my daughters. They still made the drinks wrong. Worst matcha ever. My daughter had her coffee drink remade and it was a bit better, but I hadn't realized that my drink was made badly in trying to get everything ordered. I was sorry I had left a tip. All i wanted was some decent coffee drinks and a nice pleasant experience, but it was anything but. And they didn't even apologize in the slightest! read more
