I almost did not come here because if the negative service reviews and I'm definitely wishing I had listed to my gut now. They waitress was fairly rude and you could tell that she clearly did not want to be there. Halfway through our meal she started pushing us to get to go containers. We ordered the carafe of mimosa (here for bachelorette brunch) and received it in a water container because they were out of carafes AND champagne glasses. The amount was definitely less than what is served in the standard pitcher but we were ignored. When we were almost finished with our plates (but still eating..) the waitress came back and immediately started ringing us up. No offer for another round or anything. (Which we had originally planned on doing a round or two more with some appetizers to enjoy our Sunday) we decided to just leave though because of the experience. While trying to finish what was left of our drinks we were ASKED 3 times if we "needed anything" as they tried to hurry us out of the restaurant. For reference, there were 5 of us and we were there for about 1.5 hours total after waiting almost 45 minutes for our food and drinks Food was decent. The patio was darn near empty, and the inside appeared about the same from the hostess post. First, we were told we'd have a 30 plus minute wait, and we went with it although I felt a little puzzled about the wait. We then asked if the wait would be the same if we were to eat on the patio. We were seated and we ordered a London fog and the Thai-Licious and it paired beautifully with the fresh pastry basket! Gastropubs! Love them! Even though the name sounds like an invitation for stomach problems. Brewed is one of those places that's so good, it seems like a given that everyone has been there, which I've found to be generally true. I've never lived very close to it, but always find a reason to make my way back. I was introduced to Brewed as a "Coffee shop on Magnolia". The area has a good enough rep that I'm up to try any eateries among its storied blocks. I went there for the first time to meet someone in the morning for coffee and immediately saw that Brewed is much more. A full bar, several dining spaces with varied feels to them, including two rooms that can be closed off for private meetings or parties, decor that keeps me studying the walls with interest, the coolest natural wood long table ever, and ample outdoor seating with fire pits. The coffee is served in large, bowl-like mugs and is smooth and robust. And, they serve breakfast, lunch, AND dinner. What *don't* they offer? On my second visit I met someone in the afternoon and opted to try my first Temptress by Lakewood on the server's recommendation, leading to a long, faithful relationship with this dark, sexy, Texas masterpiece. $4 a pour during happy hour, can't beat it. I will always think of Brewed as the place I found and fell in love with the Temptress. I'm sad to say I have not tried any food at Brewed, though the menu is full of items that look and sound freakishly good. Seems like I'm always here between meal times. Service has always been great, in a "real people" kind of way. This is not the place to come expecting slick, highly professional wait staff. I'm giving it five stars only because of the food because the service was absolutely horrible. we went in this morning for my cousins birthday. It was a party of four. I ordered the mixed berry Horchata. It was good. We also got the queso as an appetizer. Which was a nice surprise that it came with salsa as well and then I ordered the fried eggs sandwich and that was probably one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Server was kind of rude asked for straws multiple times and she wouldn't bring them so we ended up having to ask somebody else and my sister ordered gravy for her mail and didn't receive it and she let her know and she forgot to bring it out and she finally brought it. As several other reviews have pointed out, service is hit or miss. I've never had bad service per say, but they often seem too busy even when there are very few people eating here. Staffing problems maybe? I like most of the things I have tried on their menu and the food seems to be consistent. I am a regular here because of the location. It is close to my apartment and across the street from my oncologist office. I haven't ever tried any of their cocktails because I don't typically drink before 5 and they are too busy on the weekends for my liking. read more

Also, the drink of the month Matcha Lemonade The devil eggs had more sweet than fire; the candied side was the dominant flavor. It did not land any heat/spice, mainly sweet. A disappointing experience. The two stars was because the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, there isn't much I can say positive about the food. I had the Texas Breakfast(eggs/bacon/grits/biscuit). I asked the server for crispy bacon. The bacon that I was served was undercooked. It was still soaked and bathing in its own grease. From a consistency perspective, it resembled jerky more than bacon. I'm not one to leave bacon on the table - but it was just inedible. The grits didn't have any flavor - not sure where the "Serrano" part of the grits came into play. The biscuit was teetering between cool and warm. The butter was served cold - so that didn't work so well. Lastly, I'm not sure if it was a server issue or the restaurant doesn't do refills on coffee. But if you're serving the $4 drip coffee we had - for that price refills should be included. I can only hope this is an exception and the kitchen/restaurant was having a rough morning. After being here 3 times, and each time we would stay for almost 2hours or more, it's only the right thing for me to review them now ;). Conveniently located near bunch of restaurants (I don't hang out in Fort Worth much to know what the area is called lol, Medical District?), the main reason for us to come here each time, to get something sweet after our dinner, plus they stay open the latest compares to all the other coffee shops in the area. They have very decent parking area. Their restaurant/shop is extremely spacious with bar area, regular dining area, semi private area for small groups, nice outdoor seating with bonfires, and our favorite-the cozy couch in front of the fire place inside. It's a full service place, so wait to be seated, then someone would come and take your order, unless you want something to go. We have only gotten the coffee and some desserts from here, haven't tried any of their food yet. Their coffees are strong and full of flavor. Their service is even better. Our servers always have a smile on their face, attentive but not overwhelming. We usually stay until they close and still, with such friendly attitude, they don't make us feel bad about being part of the last customers to leave lol. it's definitely our go to place to grab some coffee, small desserts after our dinner, and especially to just sit, talk, and have some quality time together :). read more

Let me say I love the opportunity & privilege to try new places, especially when it comes to breakfast, breakfast is my favorite meal! So when this place was recommended by a co-worker (who really likes this place) I was really looking forward to this place. My server, Grace, was a great person & unfortunately the only thing I can really say good about my experience at Brewed. When my chicken fried steak & eggs arrived, the steak was very greasy & the batter tough (couldn't chew some of it, my teeth wouldn't break it!), the gravy gloppy like glue & no flavor, my eggs were very watery & the much lauded cheesy grits likewise was lacking in both flavor & seasoning. When I asked for a knife for my cfs, I was told they weren't sure they had one for me. Who has a cfs or any steak on a menu & doesn't have a knife for you to use? Finally my server came back with a small paring knife (I took a pic but it didn't come out) & asked if I could "make do" with that. Other disappointments include the ridiculous charges of $4 for a small glass of OJ & $2 for a single piece of toast! After not being able to finish my meal, I thought I'd give their "special" baked goods a try & ordered them to go. For an "ube" danish & an "ube" muffin it was $7. You can see in the pics by the size how ridiculously small they were & not only that there was no real "ube" flavor, they were just dyed purple I think. Like I said the service from Grace was exceptional, but unfortunately that's not going to be enough for me to return or to recommend anyone in patronizing this establishment. I really hope they improve & take my review to heart. Had been in Brewed about 15 months ago for "dinner", so while driving down Magnolia on Sunday afternoon looking for brunch inspiration, decided to stop in ... And GLAD I did. What a wonderful experience. 10 minute wait at about 1 pm gives you an idea how popular Brewed can be. First, the menu is deceptively simple, but so satisfying. There's a bit of everything with a clever twist to satisfy anyone in the family. I opted for a traditional Texas breakfast, but prepared with the housemade made sausage that was just outstanding, I think with sage. I also ordered a fruit bowl, which was filled with berries, sliced apples, and grapes, very little of the Unripe melon that fills most fruit bowls. I had to select this from a bunch of other choices that made it hard, including a chicken and waffles entree I saw go by our table just as I was making my choice. There is a separate coffee and tea menu that gives you lots of choices including a couple exotic Kombuchas that were so good, we took a 20 oz growler home filled with one of them. There's normal brewed coffee, presses, all the espresso based drinks you would expect, green teas and some specialties, like a cold Thai coffee with condensed milk. After our entrees, we sat for a bit savoring our coffees, and ordered these little donut holes that were served with a raspberry dipping sauce. Service was excellent, friendly and helpful. Food was brought out hot and promptly. With tip, we had all the above for about $25 per person, not a bad deal. Now that construction is largely finished, there is plenty of parking around back. In summary, a great little gem on Magnolia. Give it a try. read more

BREWED has worked it's way back into my heart, and my stomach. I'm very happy to see two changes: 1. Happy Hour : Tuesday - Friday 2:00pm - 6:00pm 2. Bar Menu : Tuesday - Saturday 2:00pm-5:00pm & 10:00pm - close Although I took advantage of neither on my most recent visit, I did thoroughly enjoy my visit. There was a large group of us taking advantage of the yelp drinks week specials. Although I did not originally plan to eat, I gave in. Several people around me ordered food, and after taking in the aroma of it all, the "Bacon Mac n' Three Cheese" (Texas aged cheddar, smoked Gouda, and Parmesan cheese, served with Béchamel sauce, macaroni, bacon studs, and roasted tomatoes) smelled the most tempting. The fact that it's a "small plate" is perfect, as I did not feel like a glutton after consuming it. It was quite delicious and the perfect bite on a cold February evening. I never did venture out to check out the fire pits, but they sure looked nice through the window. BREWED is definitely one of the more unique offerings on Magnolia and is definitely worth a visit. read more

Went here for brunch [ FOOD ] Chicken and Waffles -- I audibly said, "Oh my God this is SO good" after I took my first bite. The syrup tasted very unique, but with the perfect amount of sweetness. Not too sweet Duck Fat Fries-- We were given the option to mix up 1 order with 1/2 sweet potato fries, 1/2 regular fries. The space in which we were located was extremely loud with each table trying to be heard over the noise of the other tables. They need to install some noise baffles to overcome the loudness of the concrete floor. Two of us ordered and eggs Benedict dish easy over and they were delivered hard. And, there was not sufficient sauce to overcome the condition of the eggs as served. There was no confidence in singing the back because you never know what someone May do in retaliation. The mimosas it were served for breakfast or brunch or very light in their mix, being almost totally orange juice. Very over priced for the product delivered. The server was very inappropriate. I was hosting the table and she announced out loud the amount of the ticket and ask I wanted to pay for it. My guest told me later that it was embarrassing. Will I go back? Very doubtful read more

This was an interesting concept. Overall, pretty good food-wise. I got the sriracha burger, and while the burger itself didn't excite me, the toppings were interesting, especially the combo of beer cheese and sriracha BBQ. I enjoyed the sweet potato fries. The flavors were good but I wish they were a little crispier. As noted in other reviews, the espresso pull was rather watery, and the shot we had in an americano was acidic without much flavor and balance; I suspect that the shot wasn't tamped correctly, and hope if I return that this issue will be fixed. We also had issues with the service. Trying to get someone to wait on us was difficult, and when we were seated, 3 different people told us they'd be with us "in a minute", and we waited quite a while before anyone actually took the time to greet us/take our order. The food came quickly, which caused a discrepancy in front of house/back of house timing, and our drinks arrived after our food. The service could use a bit of help, but the food was good. read more

They don't typically allow patrons to sit at the bar during breakfast, but one of the servers overheard my request and said he'd take care of me. He did, and was very attentive. I ordered the press pot coffee. It was a bold coffee with good flavor. For my breakfast, I ordered the biscuit with the IPA sausage gravy. The biscuit is quite large and cut in half and smothered with the gravy. The gravy itself has a good amount of sausage in it, cut up into sizable chunks. It had a great flavor. Yum! I can only speak to the beer, coffee, and dessert. We only had that because when we tried to eat brunch there earlier (on a Sunday), even the bar area was full. We could have sat outside on the patio, but the wind was a bit too chilly for me. We returned on Sunday, late afternoon, grabbed some bar stools, and enjoyed some of their amazing beers, a fantastic latte (expertly made with almond milk), and scrumptious ricotta fritters with caramel apple sauce. This sampling just made us really want to go back here for to eat a full meal. There was a beer flight for only $10. The samples in the flight were sized larger than I've seen in a typical flight. That's way cool, because when you experience a drink flight, you want to really be able to taste and savor each sample....not just take a sip. Service was very friendly, but you could tell they were understaffed today. It took a while to be served, but the bartender and wait staff was very attentive and friendly. I don't mind waiting for service, as long as staff acknowledges me, explains the situation, and is friendly......and, that is exactly what I experienced here. The restaurant has a very hipster-cool, laid back vibe. I totally loved the fact that this spot attracts a very diverse crowd - every age, gender, and ethnicity seemed to be there, which is a plus. Met with coworkers for a working brunch in the back room ... 20 min to get cold coffee and another 25 min to get hot coffee to replace. My coworker was served a cold biscuit that was hard as a brick ... my food (veggie scramble or something like that) was ok We talked to the manager and he comped our coffee, which we appreciated but she couldn't eat her food so in my opinion that also should have been removed. Quite possibly the worst coffee house I've ever been to. Everything moved glacially slow, despite the fact there barely were any people in there this Wednesday at 12. On top of that we had the most clueless waitress I've ever encountered. She served us water right ght away, then spent the next 10 to 15 minutes ignoring us completely while fiddling around with the register right next to us, even though it was obvious she had no idea what she was doing. She then took our order, and went back to ignoring us for another 15 minutes while playing with the same register right next to us. After this she finally brought our coffee, which had been sitting at the bar for quite some time, or rather; she brought mine. She initially grabbed my wife's too, but then turned around and put it back on the bar counter, and served me my coffee. Which by the way tasted burnt, like it had been sitting since 6am, and was colder than the rain outside. We then sat for another 15 minutes before finally having enough, and upped and left I cannot recommend anything about this place, and I doubt anything would be able to change my mind. read more
