The rooms were gorgeous and the food some of the best we have ever tasted. Thanks for making such a special occasion so memorable for us all.

Just a quick update to shower further praise upon Hambleton Hall following a recent meal. First,…read morethe food was just as amazing as usual. My 'Assiette of Spring' was a celebration of the season with purple sprouting, asparagus, morels, wild garlic and a slow cooked hen's egg combining into a wonderful visual and sensory delight. This standard was more than followed in the following courses of locally reared Veal (with sweetbread raviolo & more morel mushrooms) and a white/dark chocolate pave. Second, the wine was superb. The sommelier managed to find the perfect match for my relatively light veal dish, and my companion's richer duck and venison mains which was so delicious that I have already looked up where I can buy some more locally. Third, a member of staff went far above the call of duty by driving us the ten minute drive home when we were left stranded in Hambleton with no taxi available for more than 1 1/2 hours. This kind of commitment deserves to be shouted from every corner and I duly intend to do just that!

This review is for both the hotel and the restaurant. The…read morerestaurant is a lovely restaurant, it has an appreciation for the history of the building with the comforts of modern day decor. Definitely upscale, nice for important family events. Seems geared to the 50+ crowd (which is fine by me!) The food is good and if you're staying at the hotel, it's quite convenient. My Royal Eggs Benedict was nothing exciting, but fine. Maybe my expectations were too high. The fried fish sandwich was also good. Coffees were good. No complaints, just nothing that made me think "Wow!". The restaurant just updated their menu for the Fall season - so if you've been here before, maybe take a look again to see what's new. This is our second time staying at the hotel. It's always very clean and the staff is attentive. It can't be easy running a business out of a centuries-old building. I give them credit for keeping the historic feel while maintaining the standards of 21st century hospitality (and plumbing!) Our shower, in particular, was luxurious. Also there's a nice set up of teas, coffee and Nespresso, with milk packets and biscuits (cookies). We overlook the path to the car park outside, there's good natural light along with blackout curtains for when you need to sleep in. If you need a place to sleep several guests/family members, and then host a brunch in the morning, this would be perfect.

The breakfast is surprisingly good and is well maintained by the staff. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes, baked beans on the hot side (plus a waffle machine) and then the usual muffins etc., fresh fruit, yoghurt and a pretty decent coffee machine. Definitely worth a stya if you need to be here at any time (I came for the point rate!!) They had a live band on Saturday night - parking was impossible!!

You get a nice room with a comfy double bed, flat screen TV, small desk and chair, L shaped corner sofa and a nice bathroom with a large shower (big enough for two). The staff were really friendly and helpful too. Breakfast was a buffet of hot foods and the usual toast, cereal and yoghurts. And there was also late night bar for those drinks after work. But expect to pay hotel prices. Nearby there's a Dominoes pizza, Greggs and Subway, if you're peckish, or a Wetherspoons next door for more meal options. Overall I enjoyed my stay there, although the whole hotel had the Air Con on a bit too low for my liking (some rooms were centrally controlled). It's a lovely place to stay if you're in town for work, and would even make a good place to stay if you're out for day trips. But the lack of other local amenities makes it less ideal for more relaxed stays.
