We had a lovely dinner here for my birthday and I was so grateful to the friend who recommended it. Tiny place and easy to miss if you're not looking carefully, but that actually added to the appeal. Everything was carefully made and presented, service was attentive, prices were honestly super reasonable (and I say that as someone who lives in the Midwest). We enjoyed the goat cheese appetizer (like, a LOT) and my husband also had the sardines, which he was thrilled with. For entrees, I selected the gnocchi sorrentina, which was amazing. My son went with spaghetti and meatballs, which he loved, and my husband opted for linguine and clams. For dessert, we shared the chocolate souffle (wow) and the ricotta cheesecake. This meal was the perfect capper to a very fun day and I would definitely visit Briciola again next time we're in town! read more

Visited this place on the way to New World Stages around the corner. Theres no sign outside but the staff, Lu, was incredibly attentive outside and knew exactly what we were looking for, and our waitress Kaya made sure we never had to wait to order or receive amazing service. The vibe between the long tile interior tables, the walls full of wine, the funk gently emanating from the sound system paired well with the cozy and comforting feeling of dining here. There's a separated room which has more tables but not by much. The place is decorated very intimately with brick floors and walls. MENU: Pretty traditional Italian. FOOD: Mista e Pere Salad - AKA salad with thinly sliced pears. Nice & refreshing choice. Burrata Special - Fresh prosciutto and a ball of fresh mozzarella on top and drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Simply delish. Fettuccine Ai Funghi - Homemade pasta in a light cream sauce and topped with fresh parsley. I'm not a fan of homemade pasta as I've never had it cooked perfect. Excellent family style eatery with great ambiance and a cozy location. No alcohol other than wine. I went with my family for a late dinner and we all shared what we ordered and no one left hungry even though their serving sizes are a bit smaller than average(for America). The ravioli was exceptionally good and the specials were really special. The wine was particularly good but they do not have any other alcoholic beverages at this location (though the bar across the street is owned by the same people and serves the same menu. Food came out quickly and was well prepared. It is communal seating so it was a bit crowded and also a bit awkward once it gets full because the people next to you can be in your conversation. I found "my spot" in Briciola. An intimate bar that sets a great tone for a date or dining solo. The food was fast and perfectly portioned so that you can choose between ordering one or two small dishes or continuing to add more as you dine. No lie, this was one of the least expensive meals I've had in the city and is no doubt one of my favorites. Their wine menu is reasonably priced by glass, carafe or bottle so that you get exactly what you're looking for. Two favorites: 1) The mozzarella and tomatoes salad which used creamy and fresh mozzarella with a light drizzle of pesto and oil. 2) The lobster ravioli (which was the same price as all other pastas on their menu). I found myself cutting up the asparagus and ravioli into the tiniest bites possible to make sure I could keep enjoying the taste over and over! Came here with a friend for her belated birthday and we were seated in a bar covered with white tiles. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. The wait was about half hour on a Tuesday night. For drinks, we got a glass of champagne. For the appetizer, we got the Torino di Granchio e Funghi. That is a crab & shrimp cake with mushroom. Came to Briciola for dinner prior to a Broadway show (it's only a little over 5 minutes away!). Based on the pictures on Yelp it seemed like a tight little spot, but I didn't know it was basically just a communal table and a bar. Be warned - seats are very tight and you're likely to rub elbows with diners next to you! There is a large selection of antipasto, pastas and specials at Briciola. Prices are also very reasonable, ranging from $8 - $24, pastas are mostly $14. Specials the day I went was a Lamb Shank Risotto, Baked Branzino Fillet and Gnocchi in Truffle Cream Sauce. We shared the Gnocchi on specials ($23) and Penn in Pesto Cream Sauce with Artichoke ($14). To match the pastas, a quartino of Gavi was split (a delicious fruit-forward, dry white wine). Crusty bread slices were also served together with the pasta, which I supposed serves to soak up the remaining cream from the dishes! This place had the BEST Italian food. It's tiny so beware but well worth it (get there before 5:45pm for a seat). Service was perfect and food was fresh. The lobster ravioli and gnocchi were impeccable, and get steamed mussels for an appetizer if you're feeling seafood. They also give you bread when your food arrives, and I'm always down for bread! Service: Small staff. It's been on my list for a long time! Pre-COVID it was always packed over the weekend. Now it has extended outdoor dinning and it looks nice! Today my friend and I went there for a wine after dinner. What really disappointed me or shocked me was the glasses was very dirty!!!!!!! It was not just unclean, it was oily and with hand prints on it! To be honest I was disgusted! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. The bar is super narrow and reminds you that you're in one of the most crowded yet amazing metropolitan cities in the country. Their original restaurant has one Barry dining room adjacent to the bar area and you feel like you're dining in a winery in Europe. Old wine bottles and candles decorate the walls surrounding the one communal table. The food is AMAAAAAZING! Come with friends so you can order several dishes to share. I have walked by Briciola many times and wanted to try for their tapas and intimate atmosphere. I came in to catch up with an old friend on a Thursday night and after 10-15 min of waiting, we were able to grab seats at the end of their communal table next to the kitchen. We got situated and started talking then a very irate 'neighbor-from-upstairs' abruptly came into the place to start yelling at everyone. He complained about loud music, wanting to call the cops and so on. One of the employees followed him outside and they were getting violent right outside of the restaurant Everyone inside were watching them then proceeded with their dinner as all New Yorkers are unfortunately prone to craziness that the city brings us on daily basis. When the situation was solved(?) the employee (maybe manager) came back inside- he however did not apologize nor did our server for the crazy scene. I get it this happens to them quite often- but there were maybe 10-15 people on our side of the bar. A service recovery comment would've been nice to make people feel comfortable again. Aside from the madness, the food was great and wine recommendations were good as well. I will return for food but next time, I'll ask to be seated far away from the kitchen because it was very loud and difficult to grab servers. the food was absolutely incredible- some of the best ive tried in the city, and our waiter was incredibly accommodating. The only issue was that we had a 6 pm reservation and were not seated until 7. To wait a full hour with a reservation was a lot (the table they were going to put as at ended up staying and chatting the full hour after we arrived) but that being said we explained we had a show to get to at 8 and they comped our dessert + got our food to us extremely quickly. Was taken here for my birthday and was a bit confused. My husband made a reservation and when we got there they asked if we wanted a bar seat or a community table. My husband knowing that for my birthday would want a private table asked for a private table and they said sure! But then walked us across the street to another whole restaurant. Appetizer: Crostini di pulpo (octopus on bread)- loved that the crostini was soft. I hate it when the crostini is too toasted and scrapes the roof of my palate. The tomato, pesto, and the octopus was the perfect blend. Entree: Lasagne bolognese (meat lasagna)- this dish is definitely not plain Jane at all! If you love lasagna you'll like this one. It's Very cheesy, meaty, and just the right portion size. The portion may look small, but it's a heavy dish. Garganelli osso bucco (tube shaped pasta with osso bucco)- This dish was delicious. It tasted like an osso bucco stew with pasta. The meat was tender was and the dish was surprisingly light. Tip: If you're coming in just for drinks you have to sit adjacent to the bar. For our annual girls NyC weekend we were looking for an Italian restaurant in walking distance from our hotel on 55th Street. One of our girls found Briciola on Yelp and thought we would give it a try. Soooo glad we did! Very small place, you can sit at the bar to eat if you want. In a separate room is the dining area which is one community table. We were seated next to a nice friendly group of 20somethings. They offer gluten free pasta. I had the linguini and clams (I would have loved more clams, but for $16 I wouldn't complain. ) Friends had orichetti with broccoli rabe and sausage, Ravioli, and Pasta with spicy grilled shrimp. We also ordered a side of fagiolinI! We cleaned our plates! Perfect portion sizes. Bottle of Chianti went well with all of our meals. Highly recommend this restaurant. One waitress had it all under control. We will be back next visit and I've already recommended to friends! read more

I wish i could give this place a 3.5 stars. The ambiance was great, candlelit and very intimate. I think perhaps i had the best sauvignon blanc there. I really reccomend it! As for the food, we ordered a shrimp with lenils over polenta and the baked clams. The shrimp dish was decent, but I was missing the 'italianess' of it. The baked clams were awesome, they had the perfect crunch with an oregano flavor and a lemony touch. For the main course, we ordered the black truffle gnocchi, and I was slightly disappointed. It honestly just tasted like mac and cheese with mushrooms topped on it. I was expecting a better dish. The sauce was just too white and you couldn't really taste the truffle in it. I had an early dinner here with a few friends, and it was a really lovely dining experience. The four of us arrived around 4:30 pm and were proposed two different seating (note these are the only two options available): communal high table in a room surrounded by wine bottles, or the bar stool in front of the bar. We opted for the communal table which was pretty nice and quiet. The menus is pretty vast in the options of pastas and wines. We all opted for four different type of pasta to share, and four different glasses of wine. All delicious, I particularly liked their orecchiette with broccoli rabe and salsiccia. We also ordered two desserts to share (chocolate lava cake and tiramisu) and four espresso-- which were made across the street at the owner's sister restaurant, Aria! (Aria has tables and chairs, if you look for a more standard accommodation.) Overall we were really positively impressed by the food and wine. The location is also to remember since the place is facing 51st street, a lovely quiet street with trees, compared to the restaurant craziness on 10th Ave. read more

Among the worst pasta I've ever had -- would avoid at all costs. I ordered the vodka pasta but asked for a different (i.e. vegetarian) noodle rather than the lobster ravioli. They gave me rigatoni with pink vodka sauce, and it was definitely among the top 3 worst pastas I've ever had. The rigatoni tasted like cheap boxed pasta that was way too al dente to the point that it was almost undercooked. The pink vodka sauce was so runny that it was more like soup, completely dripping off of the pasta. My boyfriend ordered the actual lobster ravioli with pink vodka sauce and also thought it was absolutely terrible with poor quality lobster and bad sauce. Aside from the terrible food, the vibe was also really bad. We were seated inside at a communal table that was really cramped and we had to yell to even hear each other. Overall one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had and would not recommend coming here. read more
