I have three young grandchildren with August birthdays and ended up buying just one item. When I walked in (I was the only customer in the store), I remarked that the store layout has changed, but the salesperson didn't ask me what ages I was shopping for or explain how the store is organized. I found a book I was going to purchase and noticed two pages were torn, which I pointed out to the saleswoman. She first said that's because the book isn't new, but then acknowledged it is new. I had to request that she look in the back for another book (she said she didn't have another). I found a toy in a box and left it on a table, and the saleswoman said she was cleaning there and would put the box at the front. I asked about another type of toy and was told it wasn't available. Tired of mumbled responses from a woman with cleaning spray in her hand, I gave up. At check-out I requested the present be wrapped, but I changed my mind when I saw the wrapping paper is thick brown paper that looks as though it should be at a fish or meat counter. I used to go to this toy store pre-COVID, and yes it could be a little chaotic. But the updated store is too far the other direction, not welcoming. I have six (soon to be seven) grandchildren age four and under, and the store wasted an opportunity to serve a repeat customer.

My sister now owns a summer house in Rockland so I can visit here frequently in the summer. With all of the small stores in Piermont closing in the past 2 decades I was afraid that this store would soon be shuttered. It is still here and I am happy to be a customer hopefully for the rest of my life! Unique and handmade toys along with more modern toys enrich this store and the adorable design and entrance are enough to make your day. I wish that they still had as many stickers as they had in the 1980s. Is there any chance that the sticker rolls are coming back? It would be cute if they added a tea and sandwich nook attached to this charming little store, but I won't dream too big, or, will I?

You'll find everything from modern fandom pieces to classic toys from the '80s, which adds to the fun of browsing. Some of the more common items can feel a bit overpriced, but it's also clear that some of what they sell is harder to find, so pricing likely reflects rarity on certain pieces. It's the kind of store where you're as much there to look around as you are to buy something. I ended up walking out with a cute Wolfman plush, so mission accomplished. However, Walmart had 1 suitcase left, sold through the third party, Toywiz. It looked like it was repackaged but I did not think that would be the case with something purchased through Walmart so I let my hunch go. Imagine how devastated my daughter was when she opened the dolls and one was missing her shoes and another was missing bracelets. I reached out to Walmart who said that they would reach out to the seller on my behalf. I also reached out to the seller. The seller stated that the pieces are not guaranteed but rather this is part of the "surprise." Now, that is LOL! I reached out to the manufacturer who said all pieces should be there and did not have replacement pieces in stock. I reached back out to Walmart and spoke with Rhea who told me I could keep the product AND receive a full refund. When I did not receive any notice, I called Walmart back and spoke with Louis who said he would escalate my issue. I am still waiting for a response and will update this review once I receive one. In the interim, two words for anyone reading this review - Buyer Beware!

The store was empty and as we walked toward the back, there was a gentleman sitting in a small office. He grunted at us when we greeted him. When we told him we were there to see about some free comic books he said those were just for kids. When we told him why we were there - seeking donations for Comic Books for Justice, he grunted again. Whether he would like to donate or not, or agrees with our mission or not, it was the rudest customer service I have experienced in a long time. Had he shown even the smallest inkling of kindness, my wife and I would have shopped the store and likely made some decent purchases. In any event, be warned. This is not a nice guy and not a very nice place.
