We came in without an appointment and although there was no one else in the store and four assistants who seemed fairly unoccupied, they completely ignored us other than to tell us quite rudely that they don't help anyone without an appointment. Although they have some nice designs and are one of the only places around Brisbane that make custom designed dresses, we refused to go back simply on the basis of how rudely we were treated the first time.

It was a rather formally dressed wedding, so we had a mad rush around Brisbane all day trying to find a formal gown and we came across this shop. The service I received from Winnie and the team was absolutely amazing! We literally stumbled into the shop - had no idea it even existed, and almost walked straight out because I thought it was only bridal gowns. The lovely gentleman greeted us though and encouraged us to come in when I advised that I was looking for a formal gown and showed us the full range they had to offer. Each of the designs were all made by Winnie herself, and were all unique. After a couple of dresses, I found one which was perfect - no alterations required! I am so happy with my dress and the service I received. I recently got engaged, and I'm planning on flying back down to Brisbane just to go to their store again because of the service we got. I had issues from the moment I tried to book an appointment myself online. Their website did not…read moreaccept the Australian format of entering a date and kept just say the date is invalid. I should have seen this as a sign not to bother booking at all. I emailed the store and was pleasantly surprised when they offered to book the appointment for me. This is where the niceties ended. We arrived for our 3pm appointment and from the moment we walked in it felt like nobody cared. We were told to have a look around and someone would be with us shortly. 45 minutes later a lady hurriedly came over and shoved me into a tiny changing room and told me that we had no time left to have a proper appointment and once I book another appointment, even though I had pre-booked the current appointment I was attending, I will be able to come back and try the dresses on properly. These people do not give you the time of day and will just tell you what you want to hear to get you to buy one of their gowns despite them not looking even half decent on you. Needless to say I will NEVER EVER be booking another appointment to come and see any of their over priced dresses ever again. I am so glad that I have decided to get my beautiful dress from the wonderful ladies at Wendy Makin who did nothing but make me feel welcome from the moment I stepped foot in their store.

I believe if more people knew just how good the service and quality of workmanship was here all of the other alterations businesses would soon be out of business. I often come here and ask If I could get my pants/jeans etc altered within the hour and irrespective of how busy they are they always achieve this without a hassle. They are always friendly and accommodating and I have never been disappointed with the result, on top of that they offer some of the cheapest alterations around. Even the more complex and time consuming alterations like those associated with suiting and leather goods they seem to do it with ease and for an exceptional price. I have had friends get wedding dresses made and altered, clothes made from fabric cut offs they have had lying around, silk saddles put into jeans, moth holes repaired and restored, everything you can imagine they offer. Sew Master Fashions continues to get the Stampy of approval year after year.
