The vibe was super cute! I love local and farm to table stuff. Cute tables, mismatched chairs, vertical indoor herb garden? Yes, please! I got the tacos. I split the beef ones and pork ones with my mom. Three yummy, little tacos. For one, they were PACKED with meat! Both the pork and beef were sooo good! The tacos were also topped with a salsa and a sweet cabbage slaw type thing. That slaw was so good! It wasn't cream based, rather an oil base. It gave the whole thing a fresh taste. They were in corn taco tortillas, which had been cooked a little be on the crunchy side! Downsides? 9$ for 3 tacos in Hurricane, WV. With no sides. I would have really liked a side dish. Plus, if you had wanted cheese or guac, you would have paid top dollar for those tacos! Although they did not need those extra toppings. What really bummed me out was it was FREEZING! They have a hood vent and apparently if it's not open, it gets super smokey inside. All of the customers were wearing winter coats. So go prepared for it to be chilly! I'm also not a huge fan of the name. It reminds me too much of Bridge Road Bistro in Charleston. I understand their concept, "bridging the way between farm and table" but it's too close to another local name. Another thing I thought was weird was they acted like I was crazy when I asked if they cooked the meat in butter or had dairy in the slaw. You must eat or get coffee here! I've only eaten breakfast here so far, but I plan to remedy that very soon. First, the establishment has a great atmosphere. Essentially, a small indie restaurant with a relaxed but sophisticated vibe. Second, the food served at breakfast has been consistently excellent. Try the Carnitas Napoleon, its fantastic! The food is also well presenyed on the plate. The coffee is unique, but very good. I should have come here as soon as it opened, but I'm making up for it now. This is a fantastic breakfast place. I had the BEST Breakfast (bacon, eggs, sausage, toast) today. The bacon was good and thick (1/8 inch thick), the sausage patties were very tasty, the scrambled eggs with white cheddar were delicious and the toast came with honey butter. Best breakfast meal I have had in a very long time. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and nice. Interesting art on the walls. This is my new favorite breakfast spot. read more

The neighboring quilt shop pulled us off the interstate, with it being so convenient, we had to give this place a try. We ordered two pork loin sandwich specials at the counter with sides of greens and vegetable medley and sat down to wait, and wait... cute little cafe. My sandwich was pretty good, would have been better I'm sure, if all the ingredients had been added. I had the pleasure of eating the greens my husband took off his sandwich, and it had some cheese and caramelized onions, mmm. I enjoyed the greens as a side dish, just enough pan time to lightly wilt them, and seasoned with a touch of vinegar and a bit of heat, tasty. My husband enjoyed the vegetable medley of sautéed cabbage, carrots and some red bell pepper- an unexpected but pleasant combination. Overall, this cafe is easily accessible from the interstate, and the food was pretty good, but the service was slow and I think it's over priced for the portion size. read more

How did I not try this place sooner? First of all I thought the Butter it Up thing was just a coffee shop. I was very wrong. I went with family for breakfast and was blown away. I ordered the Carnitas breakfast and it was one of the tastiest and original breakfast dishes I have ever had. My sister ordered a veggie omelette with sweet potato. She said it was amazing and it looked like it. Now that I know where and what this place is I will be a regular. The whole place has a Brooklyn hipster vibe with cool decor and feel to it. It certainly doesn't feel or taste like our normal fare. Excited to learn they are open for lunch and dinner as well. read more

What a treat! This is a small diner in a small town, but it is worth the effort to find it. They serve only locally sourced food. The food is incredibly delicious. We were a party of three. We each had a different type of hamburger. Those were amazing. The sauces and spices are unique. The beef was high quality. We also had potato wedges. Those were the best potatoes that I have ever eaten. The spice on the potatoes is unique. My wife and father-in-law had coffee, which they said was excellent. I had hot chocolate, which was one of the best that I have experienced. The service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was country-like and comfortable. The prices are moderate. Amazing restaurant! Visited this place after a Spartan Race and have to say it was exactly what was needed. The mashed sweet potatoes were sweet potatoes! So happy to have discovered this delightful cafe!! While searching for something new to try for breakfast on the weekend, we found this place on Yelp. Don't be put off by the unassuming exterior tucked back away from the road; the interior is clean, friendly and inviting! You order at the counter from the chalkboard menu on the wall, and after paying select your table amidst the funky (local?) artwork in the dining room. Our drinks arrived promptly. I ordered the mimosa which was made with fabulous fresh squeezed orange juice and served up in a mason jar! My companion selected the butter coffee from among the many available coffee drinks. It arrived hot and frothy in a copper mug - you have to try this! My omelette with veggies was served alongside diced potato/sweet potato mix. My companion had the Hurricane hash - a generous portion served with a fried egg atop. The homemade biscuits completed our meal. Five stars for excellent, fresh-tasting well prepared food served up in a relaxing atmosphere. Definitely give this place a try. They also have tap beers on the menu, sangria and some wine. There is a nice looking bar with several seats which also looks very inviting. We'll be back soon to try some of their other menu items! read more
