Other pools my daughter came away itching all day - not here. They are about safety and FUN! I have no aspirations for my daughter to be doing butterfly in a year. I want her to develop her own love of the water and learn while doing so. When I taught 2-3 year olds how to swim so they could do laps, we always played with toys. They have a similar philosophy here - toys and songs can get kids moving well in the water. I've been impressed with their management team as well. I hope it continues on this trajectory.

Part of the benefits of these lessons are that there aren't any other lessons going on at the same time. There are no distractions, just absolute focus from the instructor who also finds time to give the parent a brief check in at the end of the lesson and lots of positive affirmations for the student. I only wish we had tried their lessons sooner! The office staff is also very professional to speak with and keep you up to speed with any changes. The ability to choose the location of the lessons is also helpful as it keeps me out of the higher traffic areas of route 1. I would recommend Making Waves to anyone.

They don't allow noodles, floaties (which my sister needs to swim) or ANY pool toys in the pool, but they allow kids to throw balls, which almost hit me in the face once. At events with food, you are forced to "bring ingredients." The food is not prepared by the pool. You also have to pay for EVERYTHING at every event you go to, including pizza which is usually handed out and ordered by the pool. The snack shack has most items sold out. Lifeguards never know any details about any event...for example if you want to know the time of an event, you ask, and they won't know. They will then promise to let you know, but never get back to you. Lifeguards are nice though, and there is good visceral discipline. Overall, I give it three stars.
